Team-BHP - Accident in Noida, Ambassador vs 407

This happened near our apartment at the crossroads. Late night, traffic signals switched off, a speeding 407 hits an ambassador and the car turns turtle. Luckily few injuries.
In noida even when traffic signals are working people zoom through, with the signals off, these kinds of accidents are frighteningly common.

This is the first of the series of 2 signals(when coming from delhi side) where two high speed roads intersect. Its near sector 34/35/36 near PVR.
So if any of you are driving here, be careful, esp at night. I always slow down even if the light is green. At night one has to be doubly careful.

After this accident the 407 which was at very high speed lost control and went off the road.
Police arrived in about 15 min, which is quite an achievement for noida.

Incidentally these roads are also used be wannabe boy racers who zoom late at night. Its not unusual to hear free flow exausts of many bikes and cars revving late at night.

The amby is on its back, with the boot open..

People (including the educated ones) ignore the signals now a days.. everybody seems to be in a hurry... and the countdown timer in the signal need to be removed..

Cars almost 50 ft away from the signal start honking for the ones in the front to move at 5 seconds.. always in a hurry..:mad:

Hmmmm .. where are we headed...

I know this stretch TSK & agree it's dangerous even in the day since the Cabbies, Bikers & Truckers are always jumping signals on these crossroads. This happens from the sector 34 to the Flex red light. Even if I'm travelling in the day on ths road I slow down at the signals.

People simply ignore the red lights on thsi stretch & that is why I prefer the road which comes from the Sai Mandir in Sector 61 to the Golf Course. It's got less red lights & less traffic too.

Recently I saw another accident on the same junction, late at night.
A call center Sumo and a Tata 407. The 407 had the front smashed up and the Sumo was turtle with one side totally smashed. There were few police cars there, and lot of blood on the road, but no dead bodies, I guess they cleared it all.

this junction sees a couple of accidents every month. I have seen bikers zooming through without looking left or right, even while jumping red lights.
Is it a genetic defect, bravery, suicidal tendency, or boredom from life?
A truck guy doing this or a Blue line doing this is understood, he will live to tell the tale, but what chance does a guy on a bike have after being T boned, or for that matter a car has?

Noida people have a flare for jumping red lights.

i remember once i was driving back from sec-18 last year(when newly shifted to noida) i stopped at a red light cos the signal was red.

people were honking and looking furiously at me as if telling me to jump the signal. that was crazy

and i'm sure JUMPING RED LIGHTS is the worst habbit in city driving.

There was an incident in Delhi I had seen as a child.

We were at a crossing stopped at a red signal and there was a cream colored Fiat beside us on the right side.

The signals hadn't changed colours, but the Fiat just jumped the light and turned right at the intersection, oversteering in the process and zoomed off.

But what happened behind the Fiat was interesting.

A Dyna was actually making it thru the intersection going in the cross direction towards the direction where the Fiat went.

Seeing the Fiat making the Move the Dyna driver lost control and the truck slid sideways (he initially pulled left and seeing hte back oversteer he pulled right and the truck now was oversteering on the left and was goind sideways with the left side of the truck leading) and hit a couple of those harley-davidson converted thingy's (I forgot what they call them) before coming to a rest.

Our driver took us away from the spot soon, so did not know what actually happened post the accident.

AND then will build speed breakers on this road.

no one will try to regulate traffic, fine the offenders, educate the drivers, post adequate police, put a speed gun and challan the speedsters.

but they will build speed breakers.

They were called 'phatphati'. Phat-phat sewa is the new word coined for the Boleros that phased out Harley convertibles as they were belching smoke like nobody's business.

Before youngsters get the wrong impression it should be clarified that those "Harleys" did not have their original petrol engines any more. They had all been replaced with gawdawful 1st generation diesels. But yes, till the mid seventies or so those phatphatis were run on the original petrol engines. All I can say is that they were never short on power! And they used to seat only 4 people as opposed to 8 later on.
