No wonder, I received a weird SMS from PAYTM regarding updating RC or my fastag would be blocked on 31st. Funnily though, I have uploaded my RC already. I have tried opening fastag page of PAYTM app since, the fastag section goes blank.

I honestly don't know if my RC has already been uploaded because I had procured the Fastag through the dealer when I bought the car a year back.

Is this a genuine requirement?

Thankfully it is restored now and working.
I can see a direct UPI link with my registration number to load balance, which I believe was not available before.

I believe it so. But, I would suggest not to go through the link from SMS, but you can do so from PayTM app > fastag page and upload photo of your RC to be on safer side.

I have been handed IDBI Fastag with new car purchase. Is there a way to set up auto reload based on low balance, etc. I had set this up with my ICICI Fastags using the fastag login so that I do not have to do recharge every now and then. IDBI portal does not seem to have any such option available.

Or is it just better to bin this Fastag and go for a new one from another bank?

There are other APPS which will do the recharge if the balance is below a given threshold, try simpl app, phone pe or park

I tried Park+ but don't see option for auto recharge. Can you share more info? My tag is from another bank. Does the tag need to be from park+ for auto load feature?

RBI has imposed some restrictions on Paytm Payments bank which impacts their Wallet and Fastag services after February 29th, 2024.

I assume many of us are using Paytm Fastag. What is your take on this? Should we consider switching to a different provider or is it too early?

Long time paytm fastag user. Was happy with it barring one incident when reaching the customer care turned out to be a nightmare.
While this looks really bad for paytm, topups are blocked from Feb 29, the balance could still be used (time frame not mentioned) to exhaustion.

I think there would be a migration/alternate arrangement done with another provider if the company really goes down the drain given that paytm has issue more than 1Crore fastags. I would wait for more details before switching.

I have some travel lined up in Feb-April (as a matter of fact, one starts tomorrow early morning); I can't have the Fastag service disrupted. So I made an unusually large reload into the Paytm wallet that should see me through the next several months.

In between I hope the situation clarifies and I can decide whether to port or not. I might make another large reload on or around 29/2.

Good thing I did full KYC and therefore can hold up to 1L in the Paytm wallet.

Thanks. I tried doing that too, but I don't see an option to update KYC after logging in. Where did you find the link after logging in?

I did not bother checking too much after the initial fiasco with loading the card through multiple ways. I just got it cancelled and got a new Paytm card. Guess with the newer restrictions looming large on Paytm, I will have to switch to some other provider.

My experience with Airtel wasn't all that great, but it was surely much better than the IDBI.
As recent as 5th Jan, one of my friends bought a new car and he was issued a Park+ card. Haven't heard of any horror stories from him so far. So, I might just get a couple of those for my cars and call it a day.

My Fastags are also with ICICI. Since the bank accounts are already KYCed, is there a need to provide KYC for the Fastag again?
