I guess this rfid is used internally during manufacturing of the vehicle when it goes through the production line. Atleast this is what my SA told me when i got my new car 6 months back

Hello Ravi, Krishnagiri toll was working last to last week, when i came on Monday it wasn't

However, Attibelle is configured perfectly and the lane let you to go with thanks message.

I see no difficulties until Electronic city elevated highway, where it is not enabled.

About recharging the account

http://fastaglogin.icicibank.com/CUS...l=%2fCUSTLOGIN

This URL will lead your to FASTag's website (this is not ICICI site)

Once you register with your TAG ID (not the one which you get in SMS, that is account ID) you will be able to transfer money to account,

As of now, there is only the internet banking allowed, the Credit / debit card payment is likely to be started soon (as per the FASTag rep on call)

Hi, I know the PoS was listed in different places, But i got one from the Sriperumpudur toll gate which is near my home.

This process starts from getting application, filling and submitting with

1. RC book photocopy
2. License photocopy
3. Any Address proof (if the address in your license are not current)
4. Cheque payment for initial deposit (this helps them to see the IFSC code etc)
5. One passport size photograph

All the above process is to get a TAG for individual, not for corporates with multiple vehicles

The process normally takes about a week and you will get and RFID enabled sticker which can be stuck in your front Windshield.

Hope you get one soon, All the best.

, I felt that these toll people are not interested to sell this product just to make extra bucks !!, Simple math, on "change nai hein sir" 1 rupee per vehicle * 10000 vehicles passing every shift. OMG !!

Re: Government launches 'FASTag' - Electronic Toll Collection

Just back from a trip to Melukote, via Hassan road. The two toll booths we crossed have a dedicated Fastag lane with cameras and readers
Not sure when they will start operating though.

BTW, are cars fitted with a Fastag RFID tag allowed to pass if the system has malfunctioned?! That should ensure maintenance.

Its been there since months now. I noticed FastTag lanes all along NH4 as well. So its a nationwide initiative.

Regarding how it can be a time saver, well you see what happens on a crowded weekend in the second pic. The whole purpose is lost when educated fools jump queues.

If your/their RFID system has malfunctioned you the lane will simply be barricaded and you will pass through the cash lane and pay for the toll. I don't see any complications there.

Re: Government launches 'FASTag' - Electronic Toll Collection

Well decided to apply for fasttag at Bommanahalli Branch of ICICI. None of the staff had a clue and after moving from desk to desk, back and front, finally met up with Mr. Sai Krishna the Branch Manager; eventually identified Mr. Avinash Jingara who is actually handling this. Had taken the required documents and a cheque leaf and handed the documents to him. Well assured that in a week we would get the tag and after that we could make online payment. Anyway paid an estimated one trip amount for Chennai as expect a trip the coming week. Keeping the fingers crossed about getting the Tag before that. I shared the names here so that anyone TeamBHPian wanting to apply can contact these people there. Cheers

Re: Government launches 'FASTag' - Electronic Toll Collection

Well this morning made my maiden trip to chennai post FastTag and a huge let down. Except 2 toll booths everywhere, it was manual and I had to queue like others; well 2 booths let me thro' without charging as their reader was not working. Well that was the only upside. Yes the SMSs on the charged amounts came but not exactly in the same sequence! In spite of the big lettered signage at every toll, no one cares including some trucks about separate FastTag lanes. Will it work as it is intended, I doubt very much. May be it is early days. Cheers

Re: Government launches 'FASTag' - Electronic Toll Collection

@Waxeloquent, I agree with you in principle, but please note that the current population having FASTag stickers is may be less than 1% of all the traffic passing through the tolls. What i heard is, hardly 5 or 10 vehicles with FASTag sticker are passing the tolls in a day. Hence from business perspective, it is not viable at the moment to dedicate one lane for such low population. However, i strongly believe in next 6 months or so, when more & more cars get FASTag stickers ( i believe ICICI is working hard in delivering FASTag to more customers in Bangalore ) and when it comes to a break even point where more cars are passing the tolls, at that time they must remove the cash counters in the dedicated FASTag lane to simply zip through the toll. Until then, we may have to wait. For today, the preparatory work is done to have dedicated lane, but not fully beneficial to zip through as we wish. It depends on the luck as well in number of cars in front of you in that lane.

For now, only savior is that you don't have to deal with cash payment and simply drive through it, although got to wait in queue behind cars.

Hope you agree with me

-Ravi

Did you end up paying at those places where there were vehicles ahead of you in the Fastag lanes? Or were the automatic gates manually, after the sensors read your RFID tag?

Hi,

Does the RFID given by BETL work on other Fastags? Anyone who has tried it?

The BETL one is such a breeze!

Re: Government launches 'FASTag' - Electronic Toll Collection

Back from a trip to Palakkad and our maiden experience with Fast Tag.
Onward
Electronics city elevated road down ramp - long lines here and the attendant was clueless when I asked about Fast Tag but as I was speaking to him, the barricade did open up briefly and the display showed "Thank You, Proceed" and closed down immediately! The toll attendant asked me to pay cash - this was the first experience with Fast Tag so I just paid up, will need to verify if this was indeed deducted from the account, haven't received an SMS yet for this toll transaction so maybe it wasn't deducted ?

Attibele toll - This was the next toll and there were long lines here as well. There was a separate lane for Fast Tag but it had a barricade with wheels and was manned by an attendant who let me in after I showed him the tag. Worked like a charm and I was off in seconds, definitely saved 15 minutes or more

Return
Attibele toll - There were long lines here, used the separate lane for Fast Tag that had a barricade with wheels and was manned by an attendant who let me in after I showed him the tag. Again, worked like a charm and I was off in seconds, definitely saved 25 minutes or more! *wow*

Electronics city elevated road up ramp - short line for the Fast Tag lane here but tag was not recognized so the attendant tried using a scanner and it still did not work and he told me it was because there was insufficient balance I told him that was impossible since I'd loaded it up before the trip and would have used up under Rs.100 at most! Anyways, the toll attendant asked me to pay cash which I did. Will need to verify if this was indeed deducted from the account, haven't received an SMS yet for this toll transaction so maybe it wasn't deducted ?

From Krishnagiri toll onwards, there are dedicated marked lanes for Fast Tag (they seem to have standardized on Lane #3 as the Fast Tag lane as I saw this at all the other toll plazas on the Coimbatore route).
However, it is still not operational, one of the attendants mentioned it may take 2-3 months. For the time being, these lanes are being used as regular cash lanes.
There is also some signage at these lanes mentioning about a penalty in case non-Fast Tag vehicles use them, but for now these are normal lanes.

Re: Government launches 'FASTag' - Electronic Toll Collection

The Electronic City elevated road is not part of NHAI hence fasttag will not work
