Re: Government launches 'FASTag' - Electronic Toll Collection

Glad to receive the FASTAG in 3 days, without leaving home/office. I have a question with regards to the applying the sensors. Do we stick it in the centre (behind IRVM) or towards the driver side?
Traveling to Goa tomorrow and would like to test this on the Toll booths.

Yes you should stick it just behind IRVM. Not on driver side or passenger side corners. Look up the NHAI website which shows detailed pictorial guidance.

I have put it on the left corner, so far no issues. I was told that, its better to stick it as high as possible.

The left corner (front passenger side) on newer cars usually has the manufacturer supplied RFID which is mandatory (since 2013/14 I think), so does your Linea have that too ?

No, I don't have the manufacturer supplied one.
By the way, can that be linked with Fastag?

No that cant be linked. Fastags have to be purchased separately..

I also checked the same while taking the fasttag. They said it is not possible we have to get a new tag. I see that usually manufacturer's tag is on the corner of the windshield but the fasttag guyz were insisting to put the fasttag rfid on the middle so that the detection will be easierl

While I did an enquiry about the 10% cash back in Vaniyambadi toll they said NHAI didn't made the discount payment yet . And 15th of every month seems to be the payback day. Waiting for the result.

Fastag was a disappointment on NH4 strwtch from Bangalore to Goa and back. In the overall stretch the only place where I could use this was Karjeevanhaly Toll plaza. Rest all the toll's where I saw Fastag lane's only had excuses on why they have not started the operations yet.

What happens if we stick the fastag to another vehicle which was not registered for fastag. Will the fastag work ?

Re: Government launches 'FASTag' - Electronic Toll Collection

Did a day trip yesterday Bangalore-Erode-Bangalore.
Onward:
Didn't take BETL, FasTag worked like a charm at Attibele. Paid cash at other tolls since the FasTag lanes were closed

Return:
Took the Sankari bypass-Tharamangalam-Omalur route so no tolls till there.
We'd taken the multiple journey option so it was faster at other tolls and FasTag worked perfectly at Attibele and BETL

While i'm not sure if it will work, you shouldn't do it since FasTag is tied to specific vehicle #, so read up the FAQ's. You will need one FasTag per vehicle you own.

It will work without any problems. But:
  • It is illegal to do so
  • The display boards at to tolls will show the number that is linked to the tag.
  • When it displays another number there is a chance that the vehicle may be stopped by the toll attendants if they spot it
  • In a rare case, if there is any accident and authorities cehck this, the vehicle linked might be in a problem
The same points apply to the BETL RFID issued in Bengaluru

Yes, I think we should receive the discount around 15th of every month.

Here is an update from ICICI web site,

Quote:
You can avail a cashback of 10% on all Toll payments using FASTag in FY 2016-17. The cashback amount for a particular month will be credited back to your FASTag account within 10 working days from the end of month.

Any idea on why they were closed in Krishnagiri and Omalur?

And what is the status on the Salem - Coimbatore route?

The group inside the car with me were chatting away and I did not ask the toll attendants
During a short break after the Krishnagiri toll plaza on our return, I saw a set of 4-5 FasTag signboards near the Krishnagiri toll plaza placed by the side where they also have some concrete quality testing equipment.

And one more thing - At Attibele I was charged Rs.25 in the morning for onward trip and Rs.15 in the evening on the return trip which is same as the multiple journey toll of Rs.40
I learnt about this from @ravib's earlier post but experienced it first hand for the first time.
