Only place where i could try is the Electronic City toll and it worked without any issue. Like most of the folks here said, Fastag system in Attibele is not working. But they let you go through that dedicated lane and You wont be charged for it

I have also submitted all the documents and called Mr. Nagesh. He informed that my application is processed and i would get an sms with my fastag customer id. But i havent received anything yet. Did you get it? If so, how long did it take?

The article doesn't explain how it works. Is it prepaid, like cell phone sim cards? Can we top up and use it like the public transport cards we buy abroad for daily commuting

Yes. You can read through these pages which contains all the info. http://www.icicibank.com/Personal-Ba...tag/index.page

Re: Government launches 'FASTag' - Electronic Toll Collection

After buying the tag went out on a first trip to Trichy last week. It's disappointing to note that none of the toll plaza has this enabled. In fact - they don't even let you in the fast tag lane to check if the tag works or not - saying it is only for monthly pass holders. I did a double check in this link (http://www.icicibank.com/Personal-Ba...page?#toptitle) and ICICI bank says all the toll plaza in this road are active.

I did top up with 1000 rupees before starting - looks like it's going to earn free interest to ICICI, because I can never use it anywhere.

Shame. I am going to call Nagesh & his manager and ask for a explanation of this wrong communication in their website.

I would highly recommend people to hold-on to purchasing this tag - until you get a confirmation that those lanes are active with FastTag.

Along with that I feel it is better to inform NHAI also of this problem. Because ICICI is just a service enabler. They can't ensure/enforce that all toll booths accept RFID. That responsibility is of the NHAI which is implementing the Fastag system.

A letter/complaint to NHAI that the specific toll plazas on the road you took are not allowing Fastag, may bring in better results. Honestly I feel, the toll booth operators/road contractors are not very happy to enable Fastag (due to ulterior motives).

Indeed - I have written to the grievance team in NHAI as per the detailed provided in their website; http://www.nhai.org/Grievance.asp

Let's see if that works.

I have also spoken to Avinash Jangra (+917899747387, avinash.jangra@icici.com) and as per him all the toll plaza's listed in their website is indeed active and he can see vehicles using Fastag in these toll plaza's. I asked him to come with for a field visit and see it by himself. Post that, he mentioned - he would speak to his team and let me know by tomorrow on what can be done, in this case.

I would urge everyone who have bought these tags and are unable to use it in any tolls - pls. do speak/ write to ICICI and also to NHAI. This will ensure that people won't take it lightly.

Does that mean - whatever is mentioned in ICICI's website (http://www.icicibank.com/Personal-Ba...ll-plazas.page) & the news article (http://www.deccanchronicle.com/15072...gh-toll-plazas) is incorrect?

Tweet to union transport minister Nitin Gadkari as well apart from writing to NHAI I am sure that will have positive impact.

Yes it's incorrect. Only a handful of tolls are active. You may go back a few pages and read about the experiences from other users. Bangalore-Chennai route has a few active tolls, while Bangalore-Salem and beyond has just one.

This is at Chennasamudram toll(Bangalore - Chennai ), again the Fastag lane opened for all vehicles. Maybe they are doing occasionally, but not a good idea at all.
