Awesome! Thanks for the info!

I believe that'll cover multiple entries within that week for that vehicle!

I have used it for my 1st booking to get around 1200/- off.

Man! Zoom car is awesome!

I took to twitter saying that I wasn't getting the first drive discount and then Zoom Car asked me to go ahead , make my booking and share the details with em. I booked the vehicle and sent them the booking ref number & voilą! They just gave me a confirmation that they have slashed 10% off my bill & that the amount would be refunded along with the security deposit!

Not advisable if you are traveling out of state. At least, have a photograph of your license on your cellphone.
Thanks guys. I drove without any problems I was carrying a color copy of my DL and the RTO acknowledgement

I'm thinking of doing the same! Don't wanna carry my original license. Also, I guess it depends on the RTO & the state you are entering!

Zoomcar won't hand over the car to you without checking your original DL/

Ohh, but I was told it was a completely unmanned process.
Carrying the original DL is risky cos if you lose it, you'll have to run around your RTO and pay again to get your license.

Well it is still illegal to drive without your DL. Zoom has nothing to do with it, it's the law of the land. Your insurance won't be valid and if you get in any incident you will almost automatically be assigned the fault.

it doesnt have any mention of Pondicherry. So there may not be any tax.
Isn't it that usually the 1st RTO checkpost of state borders has a huge line of commercial vehicles (goods vans, trucks) parked waiting to pay the entry tax ? Is it the same place where the state tax needs to be paid ? Do they have separate queue for 4-wheelers ?

Really worried after reading this report, since I've booked a Scorpio, and it'd be the first time driving a Scorpio/SUV for me too! It'd be a rather full vehicle with small kids and women folk, and would hate to be stuck in the highway.

re: Zoom Car Reviews - Self Drive Rentals in India

I have personally not paid this ever. I will do it in Christmas time though.
Can someone who has traveled across states in T vehicle and paid this tax answer BDutta's query ?

You need to upload your DL when you are registering. They do a check probably with local RTO on the authenticity and approve. Once approved you can go ahead with the booking. Need not show DL every time you take the car. The DL soft copy will be available in your A/C, even in the app. Its a pretty neat, hassle free process once your DL is approved.

re: Zoom Car Reviews - Self Drive Rentals in India

I once made a booking on behalf of a friend and uploaded his DL at 2PM.
His DL was 'approved' at 2:15 PM.
The car was given to us at 3 PM (original booking time) without the attendant even bothering to check and tally his DL.
Makes me believe this whole Upload-DL-We-Will-Verify-With-RTO thing is an eyewash.

Being completely neutral, all I have to say that in it's urge for expansion and dominance, Zoom Car's standards have nosedived. A majority of their cars are in appalling state. Not my first or even second self drive option any more.
