re: Pune : Roads, traffic conditions, route queries and other assorted rants

@All: Guys, thanks a ton for the concern and the suggestions. The ride has been fixed back to its original glory (almost). Its only because of TBHP that I could find a solution so quickly.

Here's the pic after the job done. Now the only thing left, is to get those reflector fixed. Shall go to Nana Peth this weekend. If not, the showroom is always there.

Damage: Rs 900.

I am a happy man!

EDIT: Shall update the details in the paintless dent repair thread.

re: Pune : Roads, traffic conditions, route queries and other assorted rants

^Excellent value for money, I must say. I had a similar dent in my Zen and I was told it would cost close to Rs. 3000 to fix it (that was not on the bumper, but above it). I have kept it as it is. Now maybe I have a low cost option available.
Is this Rs. 900 only for fixing the major dent that you had or it include any smaller ones as well?

Hey Swanand, sorry to hear about your crash and really happy to see that the car is back to its glory with 13.5 liters of petrol or 20 L of Diesel

BTW, just check if that reverse sensor is working or not. Cheers!

re: Pune : Roads, traffic conditions, route queries and other assorted rants

@Sun: The cost is for the whole dent. It may vary if the dent is bigger/smaller. But IIRC, the highest cost is not more than a 1000 bucks.

@Anil: Thanks mate. And yes, thats the first thing I checked even before the repair took place. More than the dent, the sensor was my concern. Those little buggers come at 4K a piece!

Coming back to the topic of this thread, saw a very similar accident today morning at the same spot! Albiet between two 2 wheelers, and the damage was very negligible.
Why cant the authorities make that lane a one way, where one can just take a left turn from the highway. No merging onto highways from that lane, would avoid many accidents.

re: Pune : Roads, traffic conditions, route queries and other assorted rants

I was wondering if i should post it here or in the Hinjewadi traffic issues thread.

There was a accident on the bypass road just after PRAJ junction wherein a truck had overturned. This blocked one lane on either direction of the road during peak morning hours. As expected long line of buses and cars going towards Wakad caught up in the jam.

re: Pune : Roads, traffic conditions, route queries and other assorted rants

I was caught there too this morning. Fortunately while I was on the connector between NDA Road and the higway, a biker approaching from opposite side gave this information and suggested I keep to left lane. It helped!

I don't understand why the traffic police cannot put cones 50 yard before the accident site so that drivers can start merging much early rather than at the spot.

There was another truck parked there and people were busy moving the goods (tomatoes!!) from the accident truck to the other one. I guess the priorities are well defined

I did not know that you take this road. Else would have called you up as well for advance warning.

re: Pune : Roads, traffic conditions, route queries and other assorted rants

I was caught in this jam too, along with Swanand and a bhpian in a Fiesta, didnt know it was just around the corner near the Bavdhan exit.
I entered Bavdhan and rejoined the highway from Baner. Reached at 10.30.

EDIT : Further, just as I entered Bavdhan, was greeted with a long line of brakelights. Traffic jam on the NDA-Pashan road. Who would have thought! Progress from Bavdhan onwards towards Baner was painfully slow because of the heavy traffic as well.

BTW, has anyone noticed, many of the potholes are square(ish) in shape, so it looks like last years patches were the ones going bad first.

re: Pune : Roads, traffic conditions, route queries and other assorted rants

I enter this road from Bhavdhan side and when I was doing so today, I guard asked me to go from the other way. So I took the sus-chande road from behind and it took me all of 50 minutes to reach Phase 3. Not a bad bet and I loved chucking my car into the gaps between the pot holes.

This was around 10:50.

Looks like all Kothrudkars were stuck in that god aweful jam this morning.
Amit had called me and warned about the accident, but then, the Bavdhan road was even more chaotic to venture that way.

@Amit: Ive uploaded a similar pic on the accidents thread.

re: Pune : Roads, traffic conditions, route queries and other assorted rants

I was stuck for more than 45 mins today.
Bad start of the day with 45-50 mins in traffic Jam -really frustrating.

Hail the traffic gods ! Stuck between Chandni chowk to Praj (right turn) for 45 minutes. Good that I decided to take this right turn and come out of Pashan link road. Reached hinjewadi office after 1.5 hrs .

re: Pune : Roads, traffic conditions, route queries and other assorted rants

On your way to Chandani Chowk, there is this side road which comes from the temple and joins the highway - somewhere near the Pashan lake. Does anyone recollect if this overturned truck is before the road merge?

I am just looking at alternatives to the return commute in case the truck has not been cleared.

On a side note, the big wall kind of thing adjacent to highway has been painted recently. I still don't know what it is for though.

re: Pune : Roads, traffic conditions, route queries and other assorted rants

Hello Pune Friends,

Please help me to find best, non-confusing byepass road from Ahmednagar Road to NH4 (Bangalore Road). I want help on byepass route, which goes somewhere near Hadapsar and come out near Katraj. If such information already discussed, please point me Thread or Post.

This route info I need as I am going to Shirdi via Nagpur from Bangalore. From Shirdi, I will take Ahmednagar route and then reach Pune outskirts. From there I want to move quickly to NH4 for Bangalore return.
