My Alfa Romeo Concept

Hey guys! I've created a rendering for an Alfa Romeo concept car. I've actually made a timelapse video of how I did it. I'd love for you guys to give me your thoughts, good or bad doesnt matter. You can either comment here or on youtube though I would prefer it if you made them on TBHP. Please let me know what you think.

Re: My Alfa Romeo Concept

Looking fabulous dude !! Really really impresive - so very Alfa !

Just a little feedback - Could you have detailed the Grille a bit more - say with some delicate chrome highlights ??

Great job, keep it up !

Re: My Alfa Romeo Concept

Nice design.
I got to learn a few things from this walkthrough.

By the way I have one question, why is SketchBook preferred by most designers?
I haven't used it yet but have seen that most designers use it and then move to photoshop only for some touchups.

One tool I liked in the Sketchbook was that stencil with which you made the elipses.
In photoshop I can use stroke but can't control the thickness of the lines that much.

Also what tablet are you using?

Well sketchbook is essentially a mix between real-world sketching and photoshop. You can consider it Photoshop-Lite. Its main advantage is that its easier on the resources of your computer. Photoshop is mainly used by designers who have high-powered workstations with literally gigs and gigs of ram along with a photoshop optimized graphics card. So it really isnt feasible for designers who are just starting out.

I use the Wacom Intuos 3 tablet. I'm not sure if you can still get it since it's been replaced with the Intuos 4. If you can find a good second hand Intuos 3 then go for it.

I currently have a very basic Iball tablet. Works fine for me. Also the cost is almost 10 times less than the Intuos.
I checked the Intuos4 on the net and would like to have one someday (need to start earning some money to buy one).

Outstanding. I was glued and very intrigued by the video

Personally, the design is simply great, and as a concept, it fits the bill 100%. AS you are a student, are you doing something related to auto design or this is one well taken hobby

Re: My Alfa Romeo Concept

Amazing video.
Superb rendering there!!
I am very fond of sketching too!!

~
As an alternative to using a tablet ( which, no doubt is very close to actual sketching).
Anyone has any experience with the pen tablet that can double up as mouse (only more suitable for sketching/editing, I guess).

I am thinking of picking up one, (just for hobby purpose.)
I think the pen tablet iBall Will do the job very well at 4K bucks.

Worth the thing?

care,

Ace.
P.S. Loved the sketching!

Hi, driverace

I have been using the iball tablet since a long time.
Its worth every penny (I use the smallest one, had got it for around 3K then)
You can use it as a normal mouse and as a pen for sketching.
Also there are several functions (you need to install a software) where you can use gestures to open, save, close, etc.

But if you really are inclined towards graphics work, I think Wacom would be the best but it comes at a price.

Regards,
SRK
