I might be wrong but let me put my thoughts. In the first instance, the add-on you held expired hence HDFC auto-renewed it. No fresh application from your end. As you know whenever a card expires, the bank issues same card number again, but with different end date and cvv.

Second instance, your wife, being the primary card holder got upgraded to new card variant. Along with her upgraded card, your add-on too got upgraded to same variant and the bank sent both cards together. Again, no fresh application from your end. So card number for primary got copied over to add-on but on a new card face.

You can't check it in mycards. This will only appear in monthly statement.

But there is no clarity on who gets those cards and who doesn't.
Others and I have shared some info on how to get add-on cards with different card numbers in the last few pages. You can go through that and try to follow the process.

Not really want to debate but if HDFC has decided to do only for fresh applications, how are they going to serve the existing customers or should they continue to struggle?

I am well aware that there are cost implications for bank and disruption for customer to change every card issued in the past in one go. But they can implement this for add on upon renewal, upgrade or block & replace initiated from end user for existing customers. If I was writing requirements, I would have preferred it this way in fixing the bug.

At last, if there is no communication from HDFC that this option is available, how will the existing customers even know that there is a fix available?

I know it is too much to ask these things for a bank like HDFC which still lags behind digital space but sincerely hope they get better given their size of banking.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I recently got Axis Atlas credit card. Card has accelerated rewards for travel spend.

Card provides 5 edge points for Airlines booking. I am planning to spend around 2 Lakh on Air India. How can I confirm if Air India MCC is within the range of 3000 - 3350?

Also is AirBnB booking considered as hotel booking for this card? How can I check MCC for AirBnB?

Thanks in advance!

From what I have read, any flight ticket bookings on the Axis Travel Edge portal or directly on airline websites/apps will give 5 Edge Miles per 100 Rs. Any flight booking on an aggregator like MMT, EaseMyTrip etc would give you 2 Edge Miles per 100 Rs.

For AirBNB, domestic bookings have yielded 2 Edge Miles and international bookings have yielded 5 Edge Miles (per 100Rs spent) as per multiple threads on Reddit forum. No personal experience.

I am trying to acquire the Axis Atlas credit card for sometime now. One of my applications was rejected because the agent did not submit by documents as he left the company after collecting my records.

I read in this forum that you can apply for Axis Atlas without submitting any docs if you have a HDFC Infinia (which I do).

How did you apply for this? And would you be able to refer me or provide me the contact of the agent?

Thank you!!

Rewards on the ICICI Emeralde Private Metal are better than the HDFC Infinia but it is also more difficult to get. Most Infinia users are likely to hold on to their cards unless they are sure they can get the Emeralde Private Metal.

Meanwhile the ICICI Times Black seems to be targeting the HDFC Diners Club Black Metal but the annual fees are significantly higher.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Hi All, I just realized that HPCL petrol pumps accept fuel payments from ICICI Fastag and tried this method of payment today.
I have bought amazon pay voucher using HDFC Infinia via Gyftr. Recharged fastag using Amazon pay and paid at HPCL outlet using HP Pay(Fastag).
This way, I ended up not paying any fuel surcharge and saved 12-13% in terms of HDFC reward points. To me, it looks like this is much better co-branded fuel credit cards.
Not sure if this method is already known in this forum but I just came across it so wanted to share.

While on this topic, I would like to post a query on the SBI BPCL cc.

I have noticed that the fuel surcharge is 100% reversed if the filling / bill is sub 2k INR. Where anything above this, I lose approximately 5/- as the surcharge during the reversal. Of course, this is kinda compensated by the reward points which then can be used to fill free fuel at BPCL stations; but then I’m kinda amazed by this logic!

Can anyone explain this? And if yes, then is it prudent to always fill below 2k INR to save on the surcharge?

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Just added the Federal Bank Scapia and IDFC Wealth Cards to my portfolio today (still awaiting the physical cards)
Here's my current portfolio:
- Union Bank Signature / Visa / 1999 +GST
- HDFC Infinia / Visa / 12500 + GST
- ICICI Amazon Pay / Visa / LTF
- ICICI Coral / RuPay / 500 + GST
- Indusind Bank EazyDiner Signature / Visa / 1999 +GST
- Federal Bank Scapia / Visa / LTF
- IDFC First Wealth / RuPay / LTF

I'll fulfil the spend criteria on the Infinia and Coral as this are now my primary cards. Coral is only for UPI. I'll probably use the Union Bank Card just enough the get a fee waiver. The IndusInd EazyDiner is not a very useful card and I'm not using it. I have already fulfilled the fee waiver criteria for this year. I'll probably ask them to convert to LTF at the time of renewal and if they done I'll just use it a bit.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Does anyone know the exact status for Axis Vistara Infinite? Although I haven't received the email but I did read that the benefits have been withdrawn (including Air India Gold Tier). Is there an effective date from when that is going to happen? Also, what card does one go for now, considering I have the HDFC Infinia Metal and the only major pull for the Vistara card was the Gold Tier membership

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Hello folks!
Let me start with the fact that until 3 years ago I was completely against the use of credit cards. I believed in spending money we already have hence vocally advocated the use of debit cards instead.

Later, I came across certain websites (mostly international) which would only accept credit cards for payments. So I bit the bullet and got a Lifetime free Axis NEO card from my bank. Over time, I started appreciating the interest free period the card offers, hence its become my go to card since about a year.

Now, I’d like to ask the following question -

- My annual spends (using the CC) for FY 25 have been around 7-8L rupees. Most of this has been for my business like buying assets like computers/ Dmart spends , flight tickets etc.

- Though I am satisfied with the free credit period I get from using the card, I see that i have also accumulated 4000 edge points which are only fetching me a ₹500 voucher from PVR. Since I don’t pay anything for the card, we can assume that the total benefit I have received after spending seven lakhs rupees Is of around ₹1500.

- I’d like some advice regarding how can I get a better return on my spends? Should I go for a paid card ? I see in the upgrade section that they are offering me a Axis ‘Select Credit Card’ which has an annual fee of ₹3000 + GST, which supposedly offers more points per spend.

Or Is there any other credit card which I should check out?

Cheers.

As per the email I received, Axis Vistara Infinite Credit Cards that are due for renewal on or after 18th April 2025 will no longer carry any benefits other than the Maharaja Points earning on eligible spends.

For cardholders whose renewal date falls before 18th April, the existing benefits might still be applicable, but it’s best to confirm with Axis customer care.
Also, note that Axis had already introduced a clause regarding the second-year renewal of Gold Tier Membership starting 1st March 2024.

Now I have a questions for the experts regarding what spends to use which card for. Some I already have decided.
- Union Bank Signature: Will just use it minimum to keep it active as it's currently my oldest card.
- HDFC Infinia: My preferred card for everything but since bills can only be paid from my NRE Savings, would like to use other cards too.
- ICICI Amazon Pay: Only for Amazon purchases when the vouchers purchased with the Infinia run out.
- ICICI Coral: Default card for UPI

These cards I don't know what to use for:
- ICICI Saphiro / Amex / 2L (Shared)
- ICICI Saphiro / Mastercard / 2L (Shared)
- Indusind Bank EazyDiner Signature / Visa / 3.3L
- Federal Bank Scapia / Visa / 5L
- IDFC First Wealth / Visa / 10L

Scapia I'll probably use for purchases abroad because of 0% Forex Markup. I have add on cards for the Infinia, Eazydiner and Coral for my wife. I will be cancelling the Coral add on as she cannot use it with her GPay and she already has an IDFC Rupay Card. Scapia does not issue an add on card. I can get an IDFC First Wealth add on card for 499 + GST per year. Is it worth getting one?

Please suggest what purchases I can put on each of these cards.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I am unable to make any transactions on Google Pay using my Axis Ace credit card (which offers 5% cashback on utility payments through GPay). Apparently Google has temporarily put a halt on this, but it's been around four months. Any idea what is going on? Looks like I'd have to cancel this card soon as it's primary purpose itself is not being met.
