Yes and Yes. However, more rewarding approach would be to buy Amazon pay voucher from smartbuy gyftr portal and pay the utility bill using Amazon pay. Buying Amazon pay voucher on smartbuy using infinia will give you 5X points ( minus some processing charge).

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Recently got offer to get ONE Metal Card from South Indian Bank.

Have not really heard much about this card and wanted your thoughts.

Currently using Amazon ICICI card and monthly spends vary from 40-60k on it.

Thinking of a different card for non Amazon purchases.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Seems like AMEX silently devalued the 18K/24K rewards collection. Details of devaluation is available here.

I have AMEX MRCC credit card. I have not seen any email from AMEX, informing about the devaluation. Has anyone else got the email from AMEX regarding changes in points redemption catalogue?

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Is there any good UPI card out there, as a lot of transactions happen through UPI? Would like to capitalise them through CC & and earn whatever small reward there is

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I would suggest get an alternate UPI card from the same credit card you have. But do note one thing: Many shops are using QR's which do not recognize Credit card's now. This is what I have been facing for many days.
FYI: I am using HDFC Rupay since a year

+1 to that. My IDFC UPI digital only card got linked to the primary Visa card. The limit gets shared and also you have to do only one payment.

Rupay linked credit card UPI transactions work only on merchant QR codes. So if a shopkeeper is using a personal QR code, then the payment is restricted as per RBI norms.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Thanks for letting me know. This means Rupay as a system can be completely ruined if all shopkeepers use personal QR?
And the shops where these were declined were not roadside ones. The latest one I remember was Mongini's cake shop in Pune. When I asked him, he told the same answer: For credit cards, we need to pay extra and thus we do not keep them. And that QR was from PayTM.

Rupay system is broader than just QR code based UPI transactions. They are trying to compete with Visa or Mastercard. So theoretically even if all the shopkeepers stop using merchant QR codes, your Rupay credit card still works like a Visa/Mastercard on swipe machines and internet transactions.

UPI payments through a credit card is just a lollypop doled out by government to increase Rupay credit card adoption. It's not guaranteed for lifetime.

Thanks.
Well, if that's the case, it doesn't solve much purpose, as I checked my statements, and I roughly do 30-40K of UPI, but mostly to small vendors and mainly online UPI transfers where I intended to use CC advantage. If it won't accept at places where usually CC is not available as an option, it's no good.
On the other hand, if there's an LTF option, I might as well try it for a while.

Hdfc infinity rupay CC is the best for this. 1.5% on every upi transaction to a merchant. I have been using it since last 6 months without any issues even for small transactions. See the ones for today. Hdfc isn't offering this card as ltf now. But if you can do 3lac transaction a year the 1499 fee is waived off.

Ps- in NCR 8 out of 10 vendors have merchant qr codes so this card works mostly in my personal experience.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Finally RBI has issued circular to provide options in card network while issuing new card. It will be interesting to see how its implemented. I believe circular is enforced from Sept 2024.

From the news, its not clear if existing card holder also gets an choice.

I haven't either, this is unethical of them. I wonder if we can raise a grievance with RBI and get it addressed.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Just got a Regalia Gold LTF along with a Priority Pass. How do I best optimise its usage?

My fixed spends are on BigBasket (~6k/month but GyFTR allows only 1500 INR coupons per month), Amazon (do have the ICICI LTF card), Flipkart (have Axis Flipkart LTF), Myntra, FirstCry, flights thrice a year worth ~1.5 lakhs total & offline. Usually ~9/10 lakhs a year. Should I stop using the Axis Flipkart & ICICI Amazon cards and instead go with vouchers purchased on GyFTR for Flipkart & Amazon shopping?

The idea is to upgrade to Infinia Metal 6 months down the line.
