Sapphiro is pretty much useless. If you have it as LTF, then dont bother much, else cancel it or see if you you get an upgrade to Emeralde Metal Private.

IDFC Wealth is LTF. So again, no need to put anything on the card. Also, I think IDFC has now downgraded the card and put some minimum amount to be spent in previous month to avail lounges at airport terminals. It's PP is also chargeable. (Infinia takes care of travels/lounges etc. in any case.)

Eazydiner - Probably useful on dining out and some additional discounts on the Eazydiner app.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I got the HDFC Regalia via a promotion call in 2018, which was upgraded to Regalia Gold in 2022. I find the card to be fairly good in terms of rewards for Flights booked on Smartbuy/PayZapp and has been by primary card for all my spends.

My current Spend split is as follows:

1. Travel (Flights/Hotels) - 2 Lakhs
2. Amazon - 1 Lakhs
3. Shopping - 50K
4. Subscriptions - 40K
5. Dining/Drinks - 1 Lakh
6. Food/Grocery - 3 Lakhs
7. International Purchases - 1.5 Lakhs
Total Annual Spend - 8-9.5 Lakhs

My limit was 4.75 Lakhs until I picked up the Pixel Card and the limit was split leaving me with just 3.1Lakhs on the Regalia and can't be reversed. Tried enhancing limit online but shows I'm not eligible, so applied for a limit increase via a form at the bank.

Additionally got the American Express Platinum Reserve for Golf privileges last year, but they changed their terms for golf eligibility subject to Rs 50k spend in the previous billing cycle, hence decided not to continue the card this year.

My basic needs are:

- Travel Rewards
- Amazon Rewards
- 2% or Less as Markup Fee on International Transactions
- Movie Tickets and Similar Benefits
- Golf Privileges
Need suggestions from experts on what other cards I can try.

Also a few questions to get the Maximum out of my usage:

1. Can rent be paid through a credit card, even thought it might not give reward points but can qualify for minimum spend?
2. I get milestone benefits of Rs 5k+5k for spending above 7.5Lakhs per year, is it better to split spends on multiple cards or to stick with one card for maximum spends?

Thanks in Advance.

Under normal circumstances; yes. But since it's linked to my NRE Savings, I can't use NRO funds to pay off the bills. If I could do that, it would be the only card I use for everything.

Both the Saphiro cards are supposed to be LTF. Let's see when I get the physical cards. If not LTF, I'll cancel.

This is very unlikely as I have no accounts with ICICI.

Don't companies cancel cards if you do use them? My SBI and Bobcard got cancelled because of non usage.

This and the Scapia have 10K and 20K monthly spends to avail lounge access. Not sure which is 10K and which is 20K. I use Infinia for lounge access but want to keep this option open if I'm travelling with my wife and son as Infinia will only allow me and my wife.

They have given me a Dream Folks card.

We don't have many options in Goa for this. I'll ask them to convert to LTF or change to some other LTF card. Otherwise I'll just close it.

I'm able to use Axis Ace card with Gpay without any issues. In fact, I used it for my electricity bill payment just yesterday. I remember hearing on some youtube channel that some users had issues with using Ace credit card with Gpay .Recommended solution if I remember correctly was to uninstall and reinstall Gpay and add the card again. Please check if this works.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Any suggestions for a good LTF Rupay credit card for UPI purchases?

I tried applying for an Axis Myzone Rupay LTF card (I know it isnt great, but hey it was LTF and the twice-a-month Swiggy offer also works for me), but Axis bank rejected the application citing some "internal bank policy". Not sure why. I have a pretty good credit score, 3 credit cards already with Axis (Ace, Flipkart LTF & IndianOil LTF) in addition to other ICICI, HDFC & SBI cards. Not sure if Axis bank has a policy to not issue more than 3 cards to one person.

Bingo! You have to close one of your other 3 cards before applying for another.

Kiwi Credit Card is great for UPI use. It's issued through the kiwi app by Yes Bank.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Finally got my Diners Club card upgraded to Infinia by HDFC Bank. While I did not meet the new ITR requirements post their eligibility criteria update recently, I did have an existing HDFC card with over 8L credit limit and spends of over 9L in the last 6 months. Sent an email to their grievance redressal ID and got the card upgraded in 5 days. Hope this helps anyone who’s trying to move to Infinia ☺️

Check your TataNeu app if you are eligible for the LTF HDFC TataNeu Rupay cards. The basic version is free, Infinity is 500 annual charges under normal circumstances (And waived off on annual spends of 3L). If you get a referral link, it might be LTF as well. Irrespective of that, TataNeu Rupay is a good card for UPI spends and the returns far outweigh the fee.

Yes. Axis has a limit of 3 cards. I was lucky to have 3 Citi cards as well so when they acquired Citi, all my Citi-branded got converted to Axis as well. So have 6 Axis cards now with almost all LTF

True. They also send a reminder so a 100 bucks spend once in a while should take care of this

You are right, I just checked again. It's DreamFolks. It can also be used in Domestic (i.e. instead of the CC, swiping the DF card at domestic terminals doesn't incur charges). Spend criteria is 20K in previous month on IDFC. Good thing with IDFC is Forex markup is just 1.5%

Ok that explains it. I was wondering why a card that is almost always LTF for everyone was denied for me.

Well I tried applying the Kiwi card, but this also got denied with the same "due to bank policy" statement. I see that Kiwi has a partnership with Axis bank and I assume that's the reason. Because at almost the same time, I got an ICICI Bank Sapphiro LTF card approved with 9.5L credit limit, so it's certainly not my credit score or history.

I checked this, but it's showing only 1st year free, not LTF. Also my history with HDFC is less than a year old (got a Swiggy HDFC LFT card recently) with a credit limit of just 1.5L. It shows me an option only for the basic version (not the Infinity) with first year free and 500 annual charges. It's not even showing me the Infinity card. Normal version with just 1% return rate is not worth it. Let me try contacting customer care to see if they can offer me the Infinity version. 3L spend per year should be ok if I shift the spends from Axis Ace to this card.

Generally how is the comparison between Axis Ace & Tata Neu Infinity? Most of my spends are regular household spends (supermarket, grocery, bill payments, limited eating out etc). Looking for the best cashback. Tata Neu looks better to me overall considering it has the same 1.5% returns for spends as well as 5% back for bill payments - and works for UPI as well.

I usually spend a small amount on all cards at least every 2 months but sometimes I forget when I'm sailing.

Hopefully I can use it for my son and my wife and me can use the Infinia for lounge access.

Thats not bad. Anyway I have spent it this month so I'm covered for lounge access next month. 20K on this means that Scapia is 10K.

Scapia is 0% markup so that will be my default card for purchases abroad. IDFC has Ashwa and Mayura metal cards with 0% Forex markup. Their entry level Wow card is also 0% Forex markup.

..... As long as being restricted to the Tata ecosystem doesn't bother you ....

It's the very reason the Tata Neu cards have never interested me.

I would stay with
  • Regalia to realise ~5% and 13% reward rate for flight & hotel resp and near 2% back for non INR spends
  • Amex plat travel for grocery + amazon to realise 8.5% reward rate
  • Indusind Eazy Diner for dining to realise 25%(1k max per bill) off at select restaurants / HDFC Swiggy for the rest.
I don't Golf, not much idea there

Icici usually offers a LTF UPI card within a few weeks of getting any other card from them. If your ICICI card was taken recently, I'd say you wait for a few weeks and you should find a pre approved UPI card in the cards section of the app. Just a few clicks and it will be activated. The limit is shared with other ICICI cards and so are the reward points. The statement is also clubbed, so no need to track another card.

T-BHPians,

Which card would you recommend for availing discounts/cashback on non-Movie Events on Bookmyshow ?
