Apparently, I found Millenia to be better in terms of reward points but the HDFC website does not provide me an option to opt for Millenia. Any advice which one should I go for?

Also, recently I have been getting emails and SMS from HDFC to upgrade to HDFC Imperia from Preferred. What are the T&Cs to maintain Imperia grade level? I checked HDFC website and there is no clear answer to this.

My RM got promoted and I do not have any RM as of today.

Thank you.
As an Imperia customer - I can absolutely tell you IT IS OF NO USE.
If Regalia first is free stick with it. Else upgrade to Regalia gold.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I currently have 2 credit cards in my name and I am extremely satisfied with them.

1. The Kotak PVR card - Me and my wife are big movie buffs and usually spend more than 1 weekends in movie halls. The card is LTF and is very simple as the only reward it gives out is Rs. 800 worth of movie discount at any PVR for every billing cycle. All I have to do it spend 10,000 in that month - which is usually spent on fuel. This means I can easily splurge on an insignia recliner lounge seats in the PVR costing Rs. 2000 for a couple by paying just Rs.1200.

2. The One card in collaboration with Federal bank - The LTF card is slick to use, offers incredible rewards on monthly purchases and has a very good mobile app. My recent trip to hong kong was less painful to the highest discounts available at Makemytrip using this card, in addition to effectively 0 forex markup fee for the time. I have seen reward points being adjusted against cash balances in tune of Rs. 2000 for a payment of Rs. 60,000.

BPCL octane is the best one, it gives close to 6.25% back in terms of reward points with which you can fuel up at BPCL outlets. Few things to keep in mind:-

1. Transaction should be between (including) 400 to 4000 INR.
2. Total eligible spend in a billing cycle for reward points is max Rs 10000.
3. Not all pumps have facility to redeem reward points, like here in Pune I accumulate points with transaction on any BPCL pump but for redemption it’s only 1 BPCL COCO pump I know in the city which does it. So I accumulate a lot and then whenever I am in that area I fuel up.
4. This card also gives 2.5% worth of reward points on offline super market spends which can also be redeemed for fuel.

It’s best return on fuel across cards.

Regalia First is free. Regalia Gold is Rs. 2500 + GST
Marriott Bonvoy is Rs. 3500 + GST.

Try and check if you can upgrade to Infinia.
Else, suggest you stick to Regalia first. The rewards are more or less the same between Regalia first and Regalia gold.
Infact the spend milestone benefits on Regalia gold are not useful.

Hi Naetik30

Is this a LTF card or with a spend requirement?

Thanks

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I am looking to have my understanding validated from the SME's here.

A tankful of petrol for me costs about INR 7k each. If I bought 7 x INR 1000 Amazon vouchers from Gyftr that return 5x MR using Amex Gold CC, I will realize 1000 + 700 = 1700 MR points. 1700 MR roughly translates to INR 850 assuming each MR is valued at 50p by redeeming them for Taj Vouchers(eventually). A return of INR 850 on an INR 7k spend translates to 12% of rewards by paying for the fuel using Amazon UPI.

If yes, then, all UPI transactions will essentially fetch 12% returns. Did I get this right ?

This is a FYF card with 10L spend requirement for next year.
But I think 10L can be easily met and even otherwise the 12500 points for the annual fee takes care of it.

I think you are mixing two things. Amazon Pay wallet and Amazon Pay UPI. UPI payment will come out of your bank balance. It will not use the Amazon Pay wallet balance.

Firstly, this is a surprise. Didnt know we have a credit card thread

That said, you cant use amazon vouchers on amazon upi if i understand correctly.

You wil have to use Amazon pay vouchers added to your wallet for your utility bills, uber, zomato, zepto, etc as a wallet wherever allowed.

Also note that priority pass can only be used at airport lounges outside India. Priority pass will not work at lounges at Indian airports (both at domestic and international terminals). I use my HDFC regalia gold which has, IIRC, 12 complimentary lounge access within India.

I guess this should be true for Infinia as well.
I have been using Infinia for a good 5 years. Rs 10000 were charged at the end of first year and IIRC 10000 points, which were equivalent to Rs 5000 Amazon vouchers were credited. Of course using HDFC smart buy you have the option of converting those points for n number of vouchers.
If your annual spend is 8 lakhs, then these charges are waived off.

Secondly, as I had an add on credit card for my wife, we both were issued priority passes.

These priority passes work during domestic flights and you are allowed to take one guest with you. We have used it recently at Delhi, Mumbai, Amritsar and Srinagar airports, and taken kids to the lounge.

For international travel, there is NO limit to access. As I travel outside India every month due to the nature of the job, I use the priority pass across the globe, no issues.
Ofcourse if you have a frequent flyer status with any of the alliances, those lounges can easily beat the priority pass lounge.

Both the statements contradict each other, and now I'm confused about the usage of Priority (not that I own one ). But for the benefit of all, can someone please clairfy?

There is another workaround, which was mentioned multiple times by our inhouse CC expert, Tejas08. You need to move to ICICI fastag. Once you do that,
1. You can buy Amazon Pay Gift Card and load
2. Transfer money to ICICI fastag
3. Fill in HP pumps and use HP pay. Select ICICI fastag as the payment option.
4. ICICI fastag also says we can pay at BP or IOC pumps but those guys are not clear on the process.

I am using this flow, with Infinia CC.

1. In the first billing cycle, I wasn't charged any joining fees or yearly fees. Also, I got zero reward points. I was under impression that I will get charged with fees and I also get starting reward points, which can compensate. Am I wrong here? Did I get lifetime free card?
2. What is the best way to pay LIC bills with this card? Should I use this card directly on LIC portal or buy gift cards on gyftr and pay on amazon?
3. Can any long term user of this card share their experience on how they are taking full advantage of this card?
4. I also got priority pass card along with it, can I use that for my family while I'm in airport?
5. How is customer support for this card users?
6. One of my colleagues told me that they get 30% off on swiggy dineout. But I donot see such option in my swiggy app.

Thank you very much.
Congrats. You got one of the best cards available.
1) You will have to check with RM or the toll free to confirm if its LTF, FYF or chargeable.
2) Depending on the LIC amount you have to pay. Ideally its best to pay thru bill payment or payzapp. Amazon pay vouchers have a limit of 20k per month thru gyftr.
3) Depending on your needs & usage the best case scenario may vary.
4) If you have applied for addon cards, they can use credit card for domestic lounges and will get priority pass per addon card which has to be used for international lounges. No Caps. However guests (multiple swipe of same card) may or may not be allowed.
5) Customer support is excellent, clubbed with Imperia Banking.
6) You get 15% discount on dineout for making payment using the card. Generally some or the other addon discount is available taking it to 18-25%.
Note that now there are some caps on the number of times you can get the discount in a day.

It's actually very straightforward. Tell the attendant that you'll pay via OTP / Fastag. Ask them to get the machine that has this option (not all machines do). Put in the mobile no. attached to Fastag, and make the payment.

Using HP Pay can be problematic at times, but using the above method is much simpler, at always works.

I can confirm that the Priority Pass card does not work on domestic circuits; it only works in lounges outside of India. Additionally, only one person is allowed per card, and you can bring your child as a guest, with charges varying from lounge to lounge (typically between $6 and $28).
