I am happy to inform that I got an HDFC Infinia Credit Card even though I was not eligible.

How did I get it?

I have been an HDFC salary account holder for the last 9 years. I had a personal loan and a plot loan from HDFC and closed them much before their tenure ended. Another good point is that I have had the same relationship manager (RM) for 9 years.

When I opened the salary account, I got the Diners Credit Card, and after a few years, it was upgraded to a lifetime free Regalia Credit Card. I was happy with it and did not try for any other card.

I went to Austin, USA, in the last week of December 2023. I tried to use my card for lounge access in the T2 terminal, Bengaluru. I was in the queue for 10 minutes, and when I reached the executive, he told me that Regalia no longer had lounge access. I felt very bad. After the trip, when I came back to Bengaluru and checked, I found that HDFC had downgraded and removed lounge access from many of their cards.

Even though I do not travel frequently by flights, I still checked what other cards I could get. I asked my friends and colleagues. One of my colleagues told me about the HDFC Infinia Credit Card. After a few days, I called my RM and told her about my requirement, asking for the Infinia Credit Card. She asked me about my current take-home salary and told me that I was not eligible. I then reminded her about my long association with HDFC and asked her to check with higher management. She obliged and told me that she would try and let me know.

After a few weeks, she called me and said she had convinced her higher management and asked me to send my last 3 months' payslips. I shared them with her. After another few weeks, she called me and informed me that my application had been approved and my current card would be upgraded in a couple of weeks.

After a couple of weeks, I got a call to sign the upgradation form and received the card on 9th June, 2024.

I was impressed with the package, which was similar to Apple's packaging.

I've been using my HDFC salary account for more than 10 years now. I'm still stuck with Millennia card

Whenever I asked for an upgrade, my RM keeps giving the same canned response that she is checking with her management. Basically, they are expecting me to show 6-7.5L spends within 6 months (which is impossible for me).

Yes, do make use of this! Also vouchers on Gyftr give really great points. I buy all Swiggy / Zomato / Amazon cash from gyftr with infinia, and at times it gives me over 10-15% returns.

Interesting. I have had a Preferred account with HDFC for 8 years and they have been after me to upgrade it to Imperia banking. I have been reluctant since the service levels have dropped. I have been after my RM for almost 4 months now and he keeps saying that it is by invitation. I am eligible and have the necessary spend on my LTF Regalia to qualify for Infinia. Still, no response after multiple follow ups.

I am on Imperia. Absolutely no use - other than you are marked for their insurance products and ULIP calls.

I am eligible for Infinia based on salary and spend - but not being offered Infinia , even though I asked for it several times.

Hey Congratulations....you are lucky it seems, as its an invite only card.

Despite having an HDFC salary account for around 15 years and very high credit limit, couldn't get my hands on it. Though i keep trying with RM's, whenever a new one is assigned , but no luck.

It's a wonderful card and one of the most rewarding cards in India.

Even I did not meet the criteria but HDFC still upgraded because I use the card regularly, consistently meet the 10L spending limit per year for the past few years (that's some expensive years), maintain multiple relations with HDFC - Salary account, Home loans etc and good credit score.

Also, I heard from a colleague that they are sending mails to Infinia holders who are not using the card that much that they might downgrade if not used regularly. So use the card wisely, consolidate the spendings on this card and enjoy all the benefits from Smartbuy!

I think for Infinia official requirement is 42L ITR -or- (10L credit limit on an existing HDFC card *AND* 8L of spends in last 6 months).

Instead of asking for Infinia, try to get higher credit limit on your existing card. Then you will be automatically be eligible for Infinia.

If none of that is working and you truly meet the requirements then try the following:

* email to imperia support email
* escalate to "PriorityRedressal.CreditCards@hdfcbank.com"
* escalate to greiveance redressal
* escalate to level 1/2 escalation
* escalate to nodal officer

Keep your RM in cc at all times, he/she will face the pressure and help you get this done.

Ofcourse only do this if you actually fit the criteria.

Been an Infinia user for half a decade. It's a fine card specially the metal version.

Feels good to hold and HDFC’s point system has been cool and has had minimal devaluation (the point to ₹ ratio has stayed intact but monthly caps on points has come down). I remember the times with 10x offers on Amazon/Fk with 25k point monthly cap that used to translate to 33% off and 75k₹ appliances would come in at 50k!!

Bonus: one would accumulate points in 6 digits and they could be used on flights / hotels at 1:1 value. Been using the points reservoir for 5y now

This is a news to me, I haven't travelled for the past 5 months since I changed my job. Is it only for Regalia, they removed the Lounge Access? Because I have a Regalia Gold and I managed to get the Longue access in the month of Feb'24.

Me too recently joined the Infinia metal club. Was using a LTF Diners Black and my RM who has been of no real use till now calls me one day to say he can offer Infinia to some of his clients as he completed some milestone internally.

Grabbed the opportunity even though DCB is a good card and I had it LTF. Just the additional rewards on Amazon smart buy should help cover the fees !

Been with HDFC since 2009, have an Imperia relationship and have moved from Regalia --> Diners Black LTF --> Infinia Metal FYF

Yes all Regalia lounges are available for free in Regalia Gold.

I was on Regalia till September 2023. Post that I got two upgrades. First to Diners Club Black LTF and then to Infinia Metal in the 7/8 months after that.

On this very thread someone mentioned about the Institute offer where you get DCB LTF. I just dropped an email in September and after sharing the degree certificate I had DCB LTF by the end of the month.

It was a good card but somewhere I felt I am losing out on earning additional points and also I was unable to set recurring payments for streaming service like Netflix. It used to fail every time and I had to do it manually.

Again someone on this thread mentioned that he got Infinia as his Google drive payments could not be processed with Diners. Again I dropped a mail to informing failure of Netflix payments as well as acceptance issues with another cloud service (Idrive) that I use. No fuss, I got upgraded in a week. BTW, my RM is a useless chap. I had dropped an email but he never replied. I also rarely pickup his phone . The upgrade was through Grievance Redressal CC.

And for the record, I don't meet the ITR numbers mentioned here or even don't think I met the 8L spend in last 6 months. I do have a salary account with HDFC for 20 years but then don't keep much money in it. Forget Imperia or Preferred, I don't even qualify for Classic tier. I didnot even refer to the long relationship in the Grievance email.

So upgrade seems to be a pretty arbitrary decision. BTW, I am still not sure if it was a right decision to upgrade from DCB LTF to Infinia FYF. Numbers man in me keeps playing spend scenarios to recover (through additional points) the 12500+GST fee that I may have to pay at the start of the second year.
