Thanks binand for the information.

Hi Tejas,

Can you please elaborate on this. Whats the ratio of cashback of Rs1 to reward points? My spend can very well go beyond 3L and this sounds really interesting

4 Reward Points mean 1 Rs. Reward Points can be encashed in multiples of 2000.

There used to be reward points estimator based on one's annual spends. With the new website of SBI Credit Card, I am unable to find it. But you can go and check out the Visa Signature Card on SBI Credit Card Website.

You earn reward points as under:
  1. 10 points for every Rs. 100 on dining, departmental store and international spends
  2. 2 points for every Rs. 100 spent on all other categories
  3. 10,000 Bonus Points on reaching each milestone of 2L, 3L & 4L Spends in a year
  4. 20,000 Bonus Points on reaching 5 Lacs spends in a year

Wow, I am suddenly feeling like a Credit Card Salesman.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Hi All,

A quick question, anyone used Airport Lounge Services in Bangalore Airport ( either of the lounges ) using their CC?
If yes, which CC's provide the access, for the basic fee? Any recommendations?

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Just renewed my Prestige card for the second year. I can't be happier.

I get the following benefits with it -

1) Etihad Gold
2) Hilton Gold
3) BA Gold
4) Taj Gold
5) Priority Pass VIP

Apart from this, 5000 bonus miles on Etihad. 2500 bonus points every year. And 10k worth of coupons for ITC or Taj each year.

There are loads of other benefits. Anyone looking for a premium card should get this without a doubt.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Slightly off topic but useful for all the Foreign travel guys.

Oriental Bank of Commerce Debit card (Proton written on it) charges only 1% as markup fees on foreign currency transactions.
It is definitely the lowest as compared to credit cards (2 to 3.5%) and other debit cards (2% normally).
I used it in US, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and confirm the only 1% markup.
Sometimes cheaper than prepaid travel card (corporate travel)
For all my personal vacations abroad, I use my OBC debit card rather than search for Forex dealers, fill forms for Travel cards etc.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Recently got a prepaid foreign currency card from Axis bank. There is absolutely no markup or charge etc. on it's usage, further if one loads it for $12,000/- then the ATM transaction fee is also waived off.

What one pays is the day's exchange rate x the amount in $ + Rs.150 + service tax on the 150/- and you are good to go. Alerts on mobile and an account on axis bank.com complete with protection against misuse of upto Rs75000/- prior to reporting and unlimited protection afterwards along with free replacement anywhere in the World.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Good to know about the axis bank travel card. Thanks for the info. The rates are very reasonable. I feel the 1) initial documentation and paperwork is a hassle 2) The reload is a pain as it has to be done in India manually by visiting bank; no online transfer 3) $12000 is very high for personal travel. For corporate travel, travel currency card is highly recommended as there is very less paper work. I used Amex, Axis, Hdfc earlier. For personal foreign travel, I would prefer debit card.

I was having a superia HDFC credit card and they replaced it with one "ALLMILES" card with a small flight logo inscribed !! In the call, they were saying reward points will increase, but ALLMILES card ? What is the use of that?
Mine is not "Frequent flyer miles", but I dont know the use of "ALLMILES".

To be honest, ALLMILES is a deceiving nomenclature by HDFC. One might think that you can convert the reward points from this card to Frequent Flyer programs of all airlines, but this can't be further from truth.

Both Superia and ALLMILES reward points can be transferred to Frequent Flyer Programs of Air India, Jet Airways or Singapore Airlines. Indigo does not have a frequent flyer program of its own, but you can get a cash voucher for Indigo if you so desired. More details here.

Mastercard has lounge access program. Check with your card issuer if your particular card variant has this benefit.

With eligible Mastercard variants, you can access any of the lounges in this list (http://www1.mastercard.co.in/content...ge-access.html) unlimited number of times. They swipe the card for Rs.25 as authorization but it is refunded, effectively it is free of cost.

Visa too had similar program with one visit per quarter or something but I guess that program has been withdrawn.

At BLR, I prefer the 'Above Ground Levell' lounge than Plaza. The former has more food options and relatively less crowded.
