+1 Got to know about Lee Child here in Manchester. Was browsing for books in one of the shops and found "61 hours"
Read the blurb and it felt interesting. After starting to read it, i was not able to put it down. Bought 2 more of the same author that were available here.
Waiting to see if i can get the whole of the 15 books that he has written.

Very fluid writing style and the print is nice and easily readable. The story telling is gripping as well.

Anyone here use any library services which home deliver?


I used Librarywala (http://www.librarywala) for a year or so.
Overall my experience was 50-50.

Positives
- they have a lot of books
- they home deliver
- plans are cheap

Negatives
- Though they have a lot of titles, I don't think they have enough copies
of each title. There were a lot of books I had at the top of my queue for a year, but they never got delivered. I can understand a book being hot for a few months after it's released, but a year is too much & I didn't even get many books which were released more than a year back also
- The delivery is OK - not horrible, but not very prompt either - Usully it took 2 days for a book to be picked up/delivered, but sometimes 3-4 days also.
- There is no customer service. No one answers your email. No one takes your phone calls seriously. The only time they are trying to keep you happy is when they call for renewal. At that time, they take all your complaints, promise they'll resolve them, convince you to renew & promply forget it.

I read this a few years back - couldn't put it down.

One more Reacher fan! I read 61 hours too and it was fantastic.

One piece of news though - Lee Child is going to get Reacher injured fatally in the next book. That put me in a depression.

Hope you read the "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by the same author. Instills humility by the ton in you. You would count your blessings instead of your troubles after reading that book.

My last 3 were Appeal (2008) which is super (I have read it 3-4 times atleast), Associate (2009) which is decent, Ford County(2009) - short stories, not so good. I think I have read each & every one of his earlier books.

Plan to read his next 2 soon - Theodore Boone & Confession. I think Confession was released very recently (October).

Sorry about the late response. The last book that i read from JG is "The Broker". Havent read anything after that.

I reckon there are quite a few releases after that. Will try the Appeal as you rate it highly.

After Broker & Before Appeal, there are also
- Innocent Man - true story - decent one time read.
- Playing for Pizza - very non Grisham like book - again decent one time read.

Have you checked out the new BBC series - Sherlock? It's a good watch - Sherlock Holmes set in contemporary times. It feels a little CSI-ish at times, but, Conan Doyle's awesomeness shines through.

I read one of them, I think the kite runner and all I can say is that there are a thousand books like this one, all said to be management guru specials, and I found nothing special. Very similar in idea to monk who sold his Ferrari and stuff like that.

Anyway on a different note am reading the new Ken Follet, Fall of Giants, and its pretty decent. I believe this is going to be a three part series. I also love Wilbur Smith. Really nice books and very descriptive.

With Khaled Hosseini, I found that the books were great until you got to about 100 pages from the end. At that point, it seemed that Hosseini was in a hurry to wrap up the book, and the plot/story became sensationalist and Bollywood-like.

Anybody here read the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan? A fantastic Fantasy series. Except that its too long, 13 Books and one final book pending. If you have the Time and patience, do read.

I have been reading WEB Griffin books for a while now. For readers interested in backdrop of armed forces and a saga centering around 9-10 people - this is a great read. Lot of history mixed in.

Brotherhood of Arms is currently in my favourites list. All time favourites are books by Desmond Bagley.
