Hotel Siddartha also serves descent food. This place is right in the center of the town, just a stone throw distance from the bus stand and next to Harding Circle.
Also, Hotel Ramanashree is right behind this. Both these place are good and easily accessible by folks traveling through Mysore.
Ramanashree is pretty expensive though!

Chocolate Room in Vijay nagar, opposite Vidya Varthaka College is pretty good.. They server continental stuff. Good choice of pastries also. But accessibility can be an issue for non-residents of Mysore.
Another option is Cubs in Jayalakshimi Puram/Gokulam area which servers good variety of sandwiches and pastries.

Mahesh Prasad serves very good snacks. Remember having very tasty cutlets, chats, poori's and amazing coffee to wash it all down with.
Mylari dosa's are just too good and like pointed out by msvg, one person can have upto 3 dosa's with ease. They also have some specialty dosa which i am not able to recollect.
Nalapak is good again for snacks and also dinner. Clean and tasty. Best is their coffee and good thing is they serve mini coffee as well which is almost the same quantity of one coffee of bangalore darshini's. Coffee is available here till about 8:30 in the night.
Ramani's was a good joint when we stopped for lunch. Both south and north thali's were good and so were the roti curries etc.
Outhana is another place where we had breakfast once on the way to nagarahole and man they make some tasty uddina vada and dosa's.

Sorry don't know the area where these places are located. But you can get guidance easily from the locals to reach these places.

Edit: All these are veg only places and don't serve non-veg food

Any reviews of a restaurant called Hanumanthu pulav,
Have heard good things about the pulav and I am planning to go to this place and Mughal durbar, the next time I am in Mysore.

On the road going from Ramaswami Circle towards City court, which is also a one way, about 50-60 meters from the circle, on the right hand side, is a road site eatery. The masala dosa i had there was amazing. I usually stop there on the way back home

+1 to Dasaprakash Paradise in Yadavgiri.
Nice place to stay. Nice veg food.

+1 to this place as well.
I have tried chinese, north indian as well as italian food. Good food.

But please never try eating the kulfi here. It is good but a major ripoff.
My niece ordered the kulfi. We thought they would get kulfi nicely chopped in a plate or bowl. But what he got was the Rs. 15 kulfi from Joy Ice Creams. But when the bill came, we were charged Rs. 90 for the same kulfi.

Whenever I go to Mysore, my first visit is to Hotel Dasaprakash, Gandhi Square, near the clock tower. Board and lodging facility is available here with ample car-parking space. The food is delicious and price is economical.

For me, a visit to mysore /coorg is never compleete with out a stop over at FishLand, on the right side of bangalore-mysore road, before you enter mysire ring road.

The place serves awesome sea food -the prawns masala /fry is a must try for any sea food lover.

Another place I like to eat out is Park lane hotel. They server good food and have some nice starters.

+1 to the recomendations of Mylari dosa and RR.

I used to travel from bangalore to mysore just for lunch @ Fish land - start ride from bangalore by 10 -10.30, reach fish land, have an awesome meal, take a small nap on the road side, and ride back to bangalore.

ritz in new location is still the best place in mysore for excellent food and spot on service. that is the reason why, it has retained all its loyal customers from almost 40 years.
green leaf serves good food with top notch filter coffee.
butter chicken at top stuff is also great.
hanmanthu palav and chicken chops with idli at thegu mess in kalidas road is also great.
mylari dosa is very soft unlike most other dosas which are crispy.
GTR is a decent place for good south indian breakfast.
