Re: The Cricket Thread

Rishabh Pant just showed us a newer Avatar. What a hugely responsible innings from him. He fed on the energy from Gill and everyone else. Absolutely a historic moment. Fully worth the 4.45 am waking up today and for the past 4 days. Wow ! Hats off to the guys.

Re: The Cricket Thread

The Gabba jinx has been broken and what a way to do it, by a seemingly "weak" and depleted team deprived of many players who would have otherwise been automatic choices in the playing 11

Australia were loud mouthed, over confident and tried all their tactics during the series and still couldn't win it

Re: The Cricket Thread

Australia's first test loss at the Gabba after 1988. Being beaten by young boys. Unbelievable moments. Unbelievable belief. Unbelievable effort.

India on top, Australia slip to No.3

After the hard fought win at The Gabba, India move to the No.1 spot in ICC World Test Championship standings.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Add little contribution from Sundar in this innings. Also marathon innings by Pujara and all body blows he took + brilliant innings from Gill.

Kudos to bowlers for taking 20 wickets. Amazing..

Haven't been this emotional since we won in 2018.This is even better.. much much better.

GABBA HAS BEEN BREACHED

Pant should be MOM.

Re: The Cricket Thread

What a game, what mental strength. The boys won and they did it so convincingly. Defeating a team like Australia(Rude, Arrogant) in their own fortress makes this sweeter. I have felt an emotion today which I had not felt in a long time. What a sight. What a win. What a team.

India!!! India!!!

Re: The Cricket Thread

What a game of cricket. Pant alongwith Shardul, Washy has outdone Aussies with Smith and Warner who weren't there in 2018-19. Anything else now Aussies like to say? If anyone says this Aussies team is not like the one with Waugh, Gilchrist, Symonds, Hayden, Warne, McGrath, Hussey then we Indians are without Sachin, Dravid, Sehwag, Laxman, Kumble, Harbhajan AND without Virat, Dhoni, Bumrah, Ashwin, Shami, Umesh. Have I left anyone?

Re: The Cricket Thread

What a match!

What a series!!

What an absolute endorsement of/for test cricket!!!

It had been a while I saw matches live. Am glad I got to be part of history by watching this one.

What more, we got to witness examples of all facets of cricket in a single match.

Will need a while to absorb this in full .

Re: The Cricket Thread

"India A" beats Australia and wins the series and retains the Border Gavaskar trophy. Last time when we won in 2018, people wrote they didn't have Warner and Smith. This time we didn't have Kohli, Shami, Ashwin, Bumrah, Jadeja, Umesh, Ishant and that's 80% of first line up missing and still won. This win is bigger than the epic Eden win.

The Gabba fortress of aussies has been pulled down. Pain(e)ful days ahead for Australia.

Isn't it time for the new Dad to just focus on his batting and leave the baton to Rahane? If this is what he can pull off with this depleted side against the best bowling attack in the world and beat them on their own soil, imagine giving him a full strength side ! A bold, calm and collected leader. Hats off to him and his tough boys..

The Gill, Pant era takes off !

Agreed 100%.
Not many ODI/T20 series/tournaments can come close to this sort of drama, isn't it? Test cricket is special. So many special moments & performances from both sides.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Who said Test cricket is boring and dead?

The young chaps are solid, and Rahane led the depleted squad very, very well.

This will be a coming of age match and series for Pant and Gill.

Brilliant, brilliant nail biting cricket overall!

Re: The Cricket Thread

This is one of the finest wins, if not the finest for India. Bigger than Eden Gardens. Beating Australia in their backyard at their own fortress "The Gabba" with "India A" team is a fairy tale. What a game, what a moment.!

Imagine the turnaround - 36 all out to winning the series.

The case of Rahane - the captain just got a huge dose.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Gill and Pant are great going forward. If only we could find a replacement for Pujara ! He did very well in this innings but the body blows he took, I have never seen a No. 3 batsmen not being able to watch the ball as him.
