It's probably the no-ball issue.

Apparently an enquiry was conducted and it was found that Ishant Sharma had overstepped at least once every two overs in the last match.

He was told to fix it, and is probably playing on his mind.

Quite rare for an Indian team to go with only pace bowlers. Also if we had to go with 4 pace bowlers having Bhuvi would have added some variety as he is a good swing bowler apart from adding depth to tail in batting department. Also having Jadeja would have addressed spin department along with adding strength to batting.

I feel Kohli Shastri combo went wrong with their team selection yet again.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Indian bowlers are done with the easier part, now is when the real struggle begins, getting the lower order out!

A lot of grass was shaved off the pitch compared to yesterday. Part timer Vihari has already bowled 14 overs, just shows how much Virat missed a spinner, though he will never admit it.

India don't have a proper no.8,9 & 10. All are frontline no.11 !

Re: The Cricket Thread

I think Bhuvi instead of Umesh and Jadeja instead of hanuma vihari could have been a better selection. Bhuvi and Jadeja together can match up batting given by vihari at 6 and more than make up for bowling of vihari and Umesh.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Opening woes continue for India and already reduced to 15/2!
Pujara and Kohli get to bat so early in the innings so many times that sometimes I think we don't really have or need any openers
Just hope we can get a total of at least 300 from this stage (very long list of tailenders this time).

In whole of Australian innings, Indian bowlers bowled just 6 deliveries that were hitting the stump. But in 4 overs of Indian innings, Australian bowlers bowled 4 deliveries that were hitting the stump and were rewarded with 2 bowled outs.

Australian bowlers are bowling a fuller length than Indian bowlers.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Most Probably we have seen the last test of Murali Vijay unless he scores big in the second innings. Sad but true !!

He was such a class act!! He is in the playing eleven, just because Shaw is injured.

Re: The Cricket Thread

The test matches against West Indies was a golden chance to try out both Mayank Agarwal and Shaw as opening partners.

KL Rahul is an exceptional player but lacks the solidity . He had an amazing run where he hit consecutive 50's . But needs to make it count. Tough conditions to bat but still needs to work on his technique by playing County cricket. Just see what it has done to the likes of Pujara.

What is a non-performer like him doing in the playing XI in the first place.
Cant wait to see his back.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I am done with all talents now. So much so that I hate the word now. First Rohit and not Rahul!!

What use is all the talent in the world when you can get some runs for the team!

Time is running out for KL Rahul.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Rahul is a LOI hack. People who think he has it in him to grind it out in a test match are delusional to put it mildly.

Still a long way to go in the match. India will never get such a chance to beat this Australia team who look quite flat and inexperienced.

Definitely. India is still in 150+ deficit. Very long way to go, especially with a long tail we have (from no. 8 to 11).
I won't be surprised if we are bundled out, giving around 50 runs lead to Australia. If that happens, we can assume we're done with the match.
