Re: The Cricket Thread

Pitch assists a little to spinners.

Indian batsman - Nope. I am outta here

Played 9 batters. Still going to lose embarrassingly. Gambhir has his task cut out.

Re: The Cricket Thread

What an embarrassing Series Loss & a Whitewash with an almost full strength team(which was needless) ! Indian Team & GG are terribly lucky that the entire focus today is on Phogat and her disqualification from the Paris Olympics!

I think matches should not be played in these "win the toss, win the match" lottery kind of grounds. Fairly sure Sri Lanka would have folded up as badly if not worse if the coin had fallen in our favour.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I didn't watch the match. But would be great if ICC tests a 25+25 overs game like test format. It might be a better equalizer in terms of conditions.

Yes. It might also bring back some interest in ODIs, especially bilaterals

Oh long back this format (25+25) was suggested by Sachin Tendulkar to rule makers, interestingly the thought came after the then Srilanka series.

Quote:
I am for 50-over cricket. I think we should have 25 overs a side to start with. I thought of this during the 2002 Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka," Tendulkar told Times Now, an Indian news channel. "In the finals, we ended up playing 110 overs against Sri Lanka. First they played 50 overs and we played 10 overs before the rain interruption. The next day, Sri Lanka again played 50 overs and in the end we were declared joint winners. I thought, 110 overs and still no result.

Morne Morkel appointed India's bowling coach.

His name was recommended by Gambhir, who he worked alongside for two seasons at Lucknow Super Giants. Morkel was Pakistan's bowling coach until last December.

Re: The Cricket Thread

What a strategic mistake done by Pakistani team and end up on the losing side after scoring a mammoth first inning total of 448/6 declared and not having quality spinners on sub-continent pitches is a cardinal sin. Poor Gillispie will have to face the music now.

This is gonna haunt them for long, probably thought of opponent as a weak team and over dependence on T-20 pacers who are only good for 4 overs on the trot.

Well played B'desh, this is their first well deserved test win by 10wkts against Pakistan and cherry on the cake is away from home.

What a match, declaring and loosing well done Shanto and his boys, this is what is called "Ghar mein ghus kar Dhona"

Well as for the Pak team, they can only pull each other's hair.

Re: The Cricket Thread

What a fall from grace for the Pak cricket team. From having an enviable pace attack to such toothless bowlers, who can't take wickets for their lives.

Bangladesh in on the verge of writing history. Defeating Pak in Pak 2-0 is phenomenal.

Meanwhile Pak

Re: The Cricket Thread

This might be the lowest moment in Pakistan's cricketing history, losing to B'Desh and that too on their home turf. It was sad to see Pakistani bowlers struggling for speed in low 130's, when their fast paced bowling had been their USP since long. Tough time for Gillespie, I'm sure he will have the face the chin music.

At one stage the young B'Desh team were 26/6 and ended up with the fighting first innings total of 262, eventually winning the test and the series. I must say excellent tactful captaincy by Shanto, winning overseas test matches is always special for any team.

Would be interesting to watch how India performs against B'Desh in upcoming series (now their tails must be up) and will look forward to England vs Pak Test series.

For Pakistani, Hockey has gone down the drain, Squash has gone down the drain, Billiards has gone down the drain and it seems now its turn for Cricket. They were world champions in these sports once upon a time.

Meanwhile my Pakistani friend was saying that they will only Play/throw Javelin now onwards

Re: The Cricket Thread

After Akram/Waqar, Pak pacers haven't sustained long. Skill wise there have been very good bowlers who shine for some time and then vanish.

Litton Das has scored century 3 times now with Bangladesh in dire straits with 5 or 6 wickets down for less than 50 runs on board
