I have opted for city. After getting used to bustling life in cities I don't think one can move to any village or hill to spend their remaining life.

You know my plans very well Dheeraj.

Actually yes, this will be one of the biggest business opportunities coming up in India considering the way roads are developing. We badly need some good restaurant chains who operate across India with good parking facility, amenities and a standard menu. Hope some of the existing eatery chains will take it up soon.

Wherever it is, it's not gonna be a City for sure. I'm really getting bored of this stupid city life. Would love to live in a quaint small village on the sloppy base of a mountain, may be a small stream flowing close by with a wooden/stone bridge on it ;-). If not that then my home in my native village is there anyway.

Time to invest in land next to small streams in villages of Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra. :D

You guys know whom to contact when you had enough of the rat race.

A small village on some hill close to a beach not far away from any city would be just fine for me. (and I voted for Hills).

We are in a Tropical country, so,
Its going to be Hills for the summer and beach in Winter. City In between, so medical attention is also readily available.

Positively in Joshimath in uttaranchal near our Holy Shrine SHRI HEMKUNT SAHIB. It is a army base camp also.

Shimla is a dream, Kodaikanal is more practical.

However I'd like to stay in a retirement community rather than take it on as an adventure.

Right now my dad and mom are in that market not me.

@clevermax, A few years back I realized it's not worth being in a rat race to build your retirement if you are not enjoying your present.

I am pretty ok working only 30 hrs a week for next 20 years and enjoying life even if I have to slog 60 hrs a week in the latter part.

Yes I got your point.
But I am working more than 30 hours a week, that's okay even if it is 40 or 50 I don't care much. The problem is that I am working with people sitting in the other side of the globe and most of my evenings are gone in status meetings and stuff like that! I like to work with people in my timezone! (+/- 4 hours :D )

In the hill overlooking a beach and a village lol:.

In my farm house which is near to city.

Somewhere close to nature outside Thane but within approachable distance. Would like to have my own row house with small piece of land where I can do a bit of farming for my survivallol:

How many of you have already started thinking about retirement?

I did think, but eventually decided I'll never retire. Seriously :). The only change will be lesser working hours in a week once I'm over 60. So that I can spend a whole lot of time with the family, kids, grand-kids and CARS!

Maybe work only 6 hours a day once I'm a senior citizen.

rl: Good one. Though, by then, paper stickers will probably be passe. Every car would be wearing a wafer-thin LCD sticker with a customisable Team-BHP message perhaps?
