I couldnt help laughing when I saw the picture. It does seem like the car has been placed in a net bag.

Yes , a net , so that they dont climb from the front. They had already spoiled/torn 2 covers and made some pretty visible scratches. Its not a net bag completely but a net fixed on the pillars/columns around the car

I had similar problem! In my case they were sleeping on the bonnet most of the time and I have enough scratches on it! For a week or so, I chased the dogs, whenever they came near my car and now I have not seen them doing it!

has anyone tried applying a coat of Phenyle on the car roof, I am sure dogs would hate it.

I think that would damage the paint pretty badly. The net seems to be a really good idea, though.

Apparently the dogs love sunbathing. Book air tickets and have them relocated to Goa! Win win situation!

Have you tried Eucalyptus oil? Dab the roof with it apparently dogs and cats canot stand it.

Have anyone tried clipping the nails of the dogs? It s win-win situation: the dog will be happy basking on top of your car, and you will not be angry at the dogs anymore. In fact, PETA may even give you a certificate of appreciation.

On a serious note, I hope the colony stray dogs here do not start this trend!

My own dog does this, she likes sctraching my car, the moment we open the door she is inside the car, loves to go for long drives in the range of ~300KMS . I was thinking of a cover but i guess its useless.

Yup, use a net and be the laughing stock of the neighbour hood. What next, haul it up with a rope and hang the car from your window?

Anyways, these dogs are smart and are not going to give up easy. So you need to use tact here.

1. One option is to silently creep up on the dog and through a bucket load of water on it, every time you see it sitting up. A few days in a row and it will have the mutt away
2. Try a BB gun. C'mon, it aint gonna harm it all all. Just a slight little sting that will make him bounce out.
3. Start by covering your car
4. Get a dog whistle, not sure where you get one, but try a pet store. It is very cheap and emits an inaudible signal to human ears but very highly sensitive to dogs. Couple of blasts and goodbye doggy

Try sprinkling some pepper/chilly powder on roof.
