A DYI Thread (Non-ICE)

Hi,
I just thought a thread on simple DIY's might be a good idea. I tried to search and could only find it in the ICE section.
The thread can hold simple stuff you can tinker around with in your car/bike, like changing the oil, or cleaning out carbs (on bikes or old cars), cleaning out or installing air filters.
Just a thought.

Legal advice from Team-BHP?

After reading the posts of a civic owner who got a repainted car and another ford owner's story of getting a car with mechanical defect, why cant teambhp give legal advices through a lawyer in the forum (or appointing a lawyer if the concerned person wishes) to help the bhpians facing problem like this. alternatively a weekly answer to members queries can be posted with the help of the experts in the concerned fields.

A car owner right from purchase till he is disposing it, faces several problems with dealers, manufacturers, banks-financing the loans, insurance agencies, police, service stations, natural calamaties, etc. the service is like what newspapers doing in their editions but w.r.t automobiles TeamBHP site is doing great and so this suggestion. this i am writing after reading this site for three months and found that in any issue/any post there are several views regarding a particular point and members discussing themselves, agreeing/disagreeing with one person but the same point is counter corrected by another.. like dragging too much, i feel. for any thread (the name itself tells what it is for),a detailed discussion is good, i know but 6 persons discussing somepoint and seventh one correcting it, is something like.. sorry if i am wrong ) ofcourse money would be an hurdle for this, but with contribution from fellow bhpians something can be done, i hope.

(P.S. if i know something regarding cars, that is because of this site and i am not hurting anyone).

Very valid point, correct legal guidance would help a lot of victimised customers. Now that consumer courts are really helping consumers, awareness & knowledge of proper laws is a must to knock at their doors.

How about a contribution from team-bhp

This one is for GTO
We get a lot of people writing in, suggesting all sorts of things to various bhpians, whenever there's any dillemma that faces them. "Metallic Bonding" is it? . Having said that, what would you say if there was a contribution from you as well, to people who contribute significantly. For eg: Just saw a post from dadu about ECU (TechSpec® : Understanding On-Board Diagnostics, also known as ECU, ECM, EMS). It's a huge and i mean huge and detailed write up. Must have taken him a couple of hours, even if it were copied and pasted. ( Just kidding here dadu). Won't it be nice if a suprise "gift" came for him in the e mail or at his home address as a "Thank you". Doesn't have to be expensive. (perhaps a pair of glasses for dadu after his post). And this doesn't necessarily apply to dadu. Could be for anyone, who's contribution has a "telling" effect on someone & since this if implemented would be a suprise factor, it won't be a "greed" or "motivating" factor but a sweet gesture & worth the smile when the present/ token of apprecaition is received.
Your thoughts on this?
Cheers!
M2S

This is about the wierd and whacky mods thread.
I honestly think that stupid stickering on cars should be allowed in this thread. I for one love clicking pictures of anything whacky on the road from body kits to slogans and posting it here. It gives you a good laugh. Please let us restart posting funny things that we see on the roads again!!

Also I honestly think that one liners that people use in that thread should be deleted and dealt as spam. It ruins the continuity of the thread.

We could certainly have one, probably as an extension of the ADVICE section itself. However, common problems and the relevant solutions have already been discussed in the Technical forum. In fact, answers to the most frequent automotive issues are already present on our archive. We may consider this at a later stage.

There are several limitations to Team-BHP offering specialised legal advice, liabilities notwithstanding. I have already created an article on what to do in case of a problem with the car, dealer or manufacturer. Further procedural advice is best left to experts in the legal field. We have provided links to non-profit consumer forums too.

M2S, Thats the spirit of a community, isn't it? Team-BHPians have always come forward to help one another. I think its simply beautiful how we go out of the way to help absolute strangers with issues that they may be facing. I am confident that no one is doing this for gifts and freebies.....a collaborative community, thats what we are!

Stickers aren't really weird & wacky modifications, are they? Feel free to start a new thread on weird stickers. Your comment on spam / one-liners has been noted.

Hi paranoidAndroid,

I like this idea and have thought about it a lot in the past as well.

It would be like our current ARTICLES/ADVICE section - but with more hands-on/technical instructions and activities you can D I Y. Simple stuff, but with details that most people might have overlooked. Eg. How to check oil level, how to jumpstart a car etc etc.

Would definitely love to include these in the near future.

A similar thread that we already have is here :
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/shifti...kers-cars.html

Also, I guess the Weird and Whacky modification thread is not moderated much. May be because the thread is one where TBHP-ians get to have a bit of fun. But if you look at the thread, we have so many pics of similar spoilers on similar cars, some small tweak here, a twist there. And like Cyrsu said, there's lots of posts there that would normally have counted as spam. For me, it's actually gotten boring there.

Only you Cyrus could ask this question with well over 2000 posts under your belt. OT stands for Off Topic. We even have an off-topic smiley.
