A poll makes better sense in meet threads. But I dont agree if we have to just make a "meaningful sentence" with our creativity just to meet the 20 char requirements...maybe the mods should find a way to skip this as & when required.

I just saw the new skins: TBHP Silver & TBHP Black. I love them! I've now left my default as TBHP silver. I've been a standard-blue guy all along, but these new skins have made me shift loyalties

Great work, Rehaan & the rest of the team!

BHP Black is good. But perhaps we should have a skin that has minimal use of colors and images except black text on a white background. Something that be used to browse from office without getting dirty looks from the colleagues

New skins look cool.

But I feel that they are not as easy on eyes as default blue skin.

Love the new default grey skin. Was pleasantly surprised when bhp opened today.

Just one of those rules where the pros outnumber the cons. This cant be altered; sorry!

Thanks hydrashok, Eddy, Netfreak and Xehaust for the compliments. Rehaan will be delighted.

I think the standard blue comes closest to meeting this requirement. Or you could try the "cyclic" style and switch images off (if you browser supports this. Opera does).

Hold it in there for a little time, sport. This is the first time that I have changed over to something other than standard blue. Only a matter of getting used to the phenomenal BHP Silver.

Rehaan,

Hats off to you on a magnificent job done. These skins and Team-BHP were made for each other (pun intended).

Thanks guys. Gotta hand it to GTO for coming up with the idea etc, and the Support team for being the test-team and providing feedback , and ofcourse James for coding.

Me too! Silver
Infact Standard blue was by far the most usable, viewable and popular with BHPians - hence we built the new skins on that basic framework. (Same fonts, same fontsizes and bars etc)

The black takes a little getting used to - and the silver is (IMHO..lol) just as good as the blue...give it some time.

Also, the advantage of these skins is that you can switch seamlessly between the portal and the forum (still working on the "seamlessly" part, but will be done soon.)

The forum does not allow words of upto 3 characters be searched. Is it possible for the search engine to ignore all such short words and display results for other legal words?
What happens now is that an error is displayed saying you entered words with less than 3 characters.

Hi Eddy,

Prior to a recent update, three character words were not allowed either. Realising that there are a good number of valuable 3 alphabet words (BMW, GTO ), we enabled this a little time back.

However, 2 character words are just too small to be indexed, and will result in the search index becoming unnecessarily large. What I suggest is:

1. Use a search phrase which relates to the two character word you seek (sample analogy of Michelin with tyre). I could make some suggestions if you outline the two character words you are searching for.

2. Use google! (xx site:team-bhp.com). We are pretty well indexed by the search giant.

This seems to be your ISP related problems. Erratic connection?

I have been using teambhp without any issues for well over 3 months now and started facing this only since yesterday morning.

Eddy, i see your point.
However, it does have its advantages.
Earlier it used to fail silently (ignore the 2 character word) -- but now, since it throws the error, it lets you know that you should think of another way to search since some of your search terms are not fit.

Hi Mission_Safari,

Sorry about this. It is a temporary problem when you use IE6 & 7 with our new skins while browsing the forum.
It will be fixed soon.

In the meanwhile, i suggest :
> Use a browser other than IE.
or
> In IE, avoid scrolling over the MAIN Menu (Home, About us, Forum, TestDrives....) only while the forum below is still loading the page. After it loads the page completely, you probably wont get the error.
