You will have to talk to your company system admins regarding that. That categorisation is done by them, not Team-BHP registry.

Unfortunately not. We do not want too many new sections as it will lead to unnecessary clutter. Feel free to post local events in the "Indian car scene" and foreign ones in the "International" section.

If I make a mistake while posting and the editing time is over,I generally tend to look out for a Moderator who is online,so that things can be done quickly.

I wish the support staff dont use the appear offline feature[Know this is a delicate issue]

Once again, i can suggest that you use the "report post to moderator" button and mention the changes you wish to be made. Or else look for me, as i never use the appear offline feature

If you click on report post, an email is sent to all moderators and anyone who is free enough will take action. But if you PM any one moderator who did a quick peek during work, he may not be free enough to act on it.

Sometimes I do quick peeks through my N73, but I can't take mod actions from it, it is too cumbersome for that.

Closing a thread:

To avoid an old thread from being reopened unintentionally, can a facility/feature be provided where the starter of the thread can close it himself when he's satisfied that the thread has run its intended course ?

themag,

1. Actually, some old threads are great info-tools lurking in the back of their respective forums. I dont think its a bad idea for the good ones to be bumped up. Makes for interesting reading ;-)

2. We have an auto-close feature which has been applied only to the introductions forum. Any introduction thread automatically closes on 30 days of creation. (An example of how much happens behind the scenes. How many of you noticed this?)

3. User permissions cannot be granted to each member for closing threads.
