Steel versions sell at 50%markup in the used market, ADs who want a cut of the action make you buy a model you don't want, or in some cases AD specific "warranties". AD - authorised dealer.
Hi
Can you please elaborate on what you mean by “AD specific warranties”?

The AD sells you a not so popular model, then asks you to buy a service package from him. This ensures you're on the list for the sought after models.

Re: Which watch do you own?

I prefer simple, functional and lightweight watches.

Here's mine, SKMEI 2056. Its cheap and gets the job done. It's my only watch and I wear it for all occasions- from going on hikes to attending events

Re: Which watch do you own?

Got this recently. An AVI-8 India Edition. They are a micro brand that make aviation inspired watches. This particular one is dedicated to our Air Force.

Re: Which watch do you own?

My latest acquisition - Casio G-Shock Manga Edition. GA2100MNG.

It’s such a fun little watch. I was quite sceptical about this but then my friend and fellow bhpian, AZ911 convinced me and in fact, helped in arranging one. It looks like something a child would make out paper and perhaps that’s why it appeals to the child within serious adults like me.

I am not sure how often I would wear it, but I will certainly take it out, look at it, smile, and click a few pics of it while I am at it.

Oh God, this is so cool. A bit too young for me but it's hell of a looker.
It's out of stock though at Casio. Any pointers where can we find it? Thanks

This is such a classic as it's directly imitated from a Casio. Can you believe it that this is going for USD1.14 on Aliexpress and that includes free shipping! I kid you not. What a pity we can't shop from Ali anymore.

I had similar concerns that it’s too young for me. Try it at a Casio store if they have it in stock. It’s a conversation starter piece.

Casio’s online store is managed extremely unprofessionally. They cancel online orders of popular models and then their customer service is of no help. Offline stores are much better to deal with and may be able to arrange it for you. Fortunately, it hasn’t flown off the shelves as quickly as it has done outside India.

I know right. I've been using it since 2015 and the ban made little sense to me as most of the stuff we buy has china parts anyway.

I love the Casioak design, but I'm also partial to compact and lightweight timepieces. Wall clock on my wrist is just not my thing, so I chose the classic DW5600 Tough Solar instead a few years ago.

Your post had me looking at the Casio site . My niece is into Manga so I'll be getting her one instead so we'll have one of these cool pieces in the family.

BUT, I stumbled on the Casioak Mini GMA-S2100GA in a new color combination! Low stocks and long-ish lead times on Casio online store, so ordered next-day-delivery off Amazon instead.

Got a fresh June 2024 specimen, ran serial# on Casio Support to authenticate and register for extra warranty.

Perfect size for me, and a sizing comparison with my other compact G-Shock.

I'm chuffed

Re: Which watch do you own?

Here is my Farr and Switt Wayfinder. Got it off a kind redditor and it has been my daily beater for a while now.
The full lume dial is excellent and lasts hours through the night. The vh31 sweeping quartz is a delight to look at.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Casio Edifice. The only watch that I've been using for all occasion since 2011. Changed the battery a few times. It seems it'd last for a few more decades.
