Re: Which watch do you own?

So, I am looking to renew or refresh or kind of restore few watches that I have. Only quartz and no automatics. this is just out of new found opportunity to wear watches now that regularly going to office and out. And to be honest, not really was into maintaining watches. But this is new found hobby now since I like watches. So, saving money to buy my first swiss watch in time.

However, need help here. For one of the Fastrack watch, polish of metal case is coming off. It watch with unique dial and still works after 13 years. So, really want to restore it. Where can i get new metal case for any watch. Tried googling but did not help. Will Fastrack SC will be able to help or can I get it online?

second, one of the maxima watches has issue of slowing down by 10 minutes every 24 hours. Is there any maxima service centre in Banglore which can fix this? Old watch but I like it. Would love to get it working fine.

for other watches, looking to order straps from bartonwatchbands. Let us see how this goes.

TIA

Assuming it is the same Fastrack watch:
1. Strap:
That looks like a wrap-around velcro strap. Simplest solution is to remove it, wash it and reuse. Otherwise, try finding a similar wrap-around velcro strap, not easy but possible. Example

You will need to measure the lug width of your watch to find a replacement strap. Lug width is the dist. marked in red in the image below, in case you didn't know. Your watch looks like 18 or 20mm.

Size: 244.3 KB

2. Polishing:
Take it to a local watch repair shop, they often do an okay job. OR you can diy with some 3M polishing compound and a dremel with the buffing attachment. Earbud attached to 9v motor spindle can also be used for buffing. Make sure to protect the glass with some masking tape.

Either low battery / component in the oscillator circuit is out of spec / or needs lubrication. Again, local watch repair shop is your best option. May be just swap the mechanism from a donor watch. Generally not worth the expense.

Try Mooi straps. I have bought 2 NATO straps from the site. I have seen NATO straps on Amazon as well.
I am not associated with Mooi straps but I got the suggestion from the watches thread here.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Finally pulled the trigger and brought this beauty home; The Orient Ray 2 in it's blue dial version. The hand winding feature (which I sorely missed in my SKX) is an absolute life saver and the functionality this piece offers makes it at an absolute bang for the buck daily beater. Attaching a picture that shows no justice at all to the gorgeous sunburst blue dial

Re: Which watch do you own?

After a long wait, I finally managed to snag this beauty. I have been following up for a little more than a year.

I prefer the no date models, simply because I like the balance in the dial. I was very keen on the silver dial because I feel that it will age better with me. This is the Oyster Perpetual 41mm.

These are the daily drivers for me at present.

Which watch do you own?-dailydutieswatch1.jpeg

Tommy and Casio Edifice Solar does the daily job.
The HMT Janta in black NATO strap is inherited from late father which used to be his Friday watch.

Wow, congratulations. May I ask how and where? Price of Luxury watches have gone thru the roof during the pandemic. There used to be plenty of omegas, Tudor and breitling in pre owned market, now there literally none with sensible price tag.

Bought it from the official retailer in Bangalore, Ethos. I have had lots of free time during thee pandemic and during this time I started searching for a Rolex, which lead me to Ethos. There are two retailers in Bangalore, the other one flatly refused saying its not possible to get a steel only model. So, I kept following up with Ethos over the last year or so. Finally last week they were able to source one for me from their December shipment.

I had almost given up hope and was going to buy the Tudor BB58, in the new 39mm size, but since I would have to travel either to Delhi or Mumbai to get my hands on the watch, it was on hold. Surprising that there is no official store for them in Bangalore and even Kapoor Watches does not openly show them on their website. I will finally buy the BB58 for sure, unless I am able to source a submariner.

On the pricing, its gone crazy in the grey market. I have already received an offer for almost double of the price I paid. But I am going to hold on to this watch, unless the AD can get me a Sub.

So over 21 years after assembly, Ol' Faithful got a new battery, a crystal gasket and a cleanup this month at the Citizen service centre in Pune. If it runs the way it did previously the next battery MAY be required when I am a really old man

Cheers and Merry Christmas to all at T-BHP.

Casio released their Carbon Fiber Mudmaster in Dubai, and I picked up one. The workmanship and detailing has to be seen to be believed, on this lightweight masterpiece. Feature list is endless

Congrats on the Rolex. Can you PM me the contact person who managed to get you the watch? I have been following up with Rolex Bangalore (Ethos) as well but as you said it has been pretty much impossible to even get them to admit that they receive steel watches!!

Also - on the B58, that is one piece I have been eyeing for a long time but there do not seem to be any authorised dealers in India. Are you saying Kapoor watches sell Tudor officially? If yes, can you share the contact details for this as well? I am OK travelling to Mumbai / Delhi to get it. My other plan was to pick it up when abroad, but then the pandemic has hit all foreign travel plans out of the window.

Great choice. I have been using the Mako II in the sunburst blue for the last 5 years and it is a solid and hard wearing piece, versatile enough to wear on most occasions. Preferred this over the SKX due to the hacking and hand winding.

This was my first automatic watch, and look forward to use this for many more years to come.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Thanks to Cred jackpot, i won a 40% discount on listed watches at below link.

https://www.citizenwatches.store/products/cred-watches

I always wanted to own a divers watch but wondering how this will be as a daily or occasional wear. I am worried on the weight part now if she will be too bulky.

https://www.citizenwatches.store/pro...ter/bn0191-80l

I prefer big dials & at 44.3 MM case size, fits the bill. Any other suggestion on better watch from above link.

Another question is if this site is reliable and trust worthy.

I have this watch, top row on the right in my watch storage box (Which watch do you own?) (plus the gold 2 tone version of the same model) and as with most divers watches, it is bulky and not really cut for formal or semi formal wear with long sleeves. It lends itself more to a casual sporty look. It is very well made except for the crown operation which seems rather flimsy in comparison with my other watches when it is unscrewed and pulled out for adjustment of date/time. The good points? It's a tested/certified diver model, as mentioned earlier it is well built (with that accompanying caveat) with very good lume. This one is a keeper.

It seems to be the official Citizen store so I doubt you would go wrong

I recently came across full page ad of Tudor in some newspaper. I was under the impression they do not have an official retailer in India, but it seems Dia Jewellery sells them.
