I did watch this video earlier. Quite an easy mod. I liked the mods done on the Seiko 5 too. There are quite a few of those.

Re: Which watch do you own?

My vintage Favre-Leuba Sea King mechanical (manual winding) wristwatch. It must be around 60+ years old. A gem of an inheritance. This is considering Favre-Leuba in its current iteration is expensive.

Its a timeless classic design and is an ideal dress watch. The size is absolutely comfortable and once on wrist one forgets about it being there. Thanks to its slim design. This watch is exclusively reserved for my suits and formal settings. Although looks a little old yet the patina gives it a classic vintage look.

Works like charm and has a 50 hours power reserve. Being such an old watch it keeps amazing time and accuracy (of course not up to the COSC standards) but very commendable.

Which watch do you own?-img_20210122_122334.jpg

The attention to detail in such an old watch is amazing where they have engraved the watch model name, "SEA KING" on the case at a unique place.

Which watch do you own?-img_20210122_122421.jpg

It also has a Gold Plated G20 stamping on the other side of the case. It means plated with 20 microns of Gold.

I have a very old Rolex and an Omega (Both hand wound) which my grandfather used. Planning to get them restored. Is it ok to give to them or get in done somewhere in Europe?

I was also looking at a Tag though something cheaper as my 2nd luxury watch. But as per reviews, TAG's are only to be bought if they are on massive discounts. Don't know why but most YouTube reviewers are not very kind to this brand.

Please PM me if anybody likes a specific watch, prices are reasonable.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Got lucky and picked up this HMT when I was in India last month. Keeps time nicely and it was serviced very recently. Put a simple 18mm leather strap over it and done! I prefer this look over my other dress watches.

I plan to polish it myself soon.

Love the blue gradient Samurai. The Monster is also on my wishlist, especially the blue coral dial which came out last year.

I had the Pepsi Samurai which I sold and upgraded to the Seiko Tuna. Given the status of the your collection, I'd strongly suggest that you take a look at the Tuna. It is three or four leagues above the Samurais and turtles when it comes to quality and build, not to mention lume intensity which is absolutely nuclear. Of course the Tuna is in a much higher price bracket being a Marinemaster Professional 300 watch, but an absolutely fantastic timepiece.

Here is mine on my wrist - wears like a dream. One of the best wearing chunky tool watches I have come across till date.

So good to see another Favre Leuba Sea King. I have a Favre Leuba Sea King from the 1950s given to my Father and then handed over to me. It has been with me from 1995 and still kept proper time the last time I checked. It is at my home in Kolkata. I have to get the strap fixed. Only problem is that it is a bit small for my hand.

No you didn’t miss it. But, having close to 200 watches, I hardly worried about a specific model from any brand. The picture here shows the top two tiers of my watch case that I rotate. Lot more watches are in India.

There are few more vintage Seiko watches from my collection that are missing in these pictures.

Two other modern Seiko watches that aren’t in these Pictures are Seiko Sumo SBDC031j1 and a Seiko 5 blue dial Pepsi SRPD53K1.

In the pictures above you can see a Seiko with Pepsi Bezel, that is baby tuna (Solar 200m). Here is the picture of the tuna on my son’s wrist

The solar Tuna is a good entry level watch into the Tuna range. I was debating on this piece, but ultimately decided to splurge for the full fat Marinemaster Tuna 300 and emptied my wallet considerably

On another note Sir - 200 watches, woah !! Do you manage to wear all of them ? When I started watch collecting a few years back, I wanted a similar high volume collection but a couple of years down the line, I realised I wanted a very small concise collection that I would wear regularly. So, my current collection is only 6 watches, all of them Japs (Seiko Alpinist, Seiko Sarb 033, Seiko Tuna, Orient Mako 2, the G-Shock 5600 and Orient Bambino as my office dress watch). I ultimately want to distil it down to 3-4. Cannot think of selling any of the current watches though, love all of them!

You can see how my watch collection grown from this very forum. 60-70 out of 200 are wearable watches. My collection also includes vintages, lady’s watches, Pocket watches, Ring watches, Necklace watches, Brooch watches etc.

The wearable collection got almost all the well known brands from India, Japan, Germany, Swiss, US in Steel, Sterling, Gold and Bronze metals.

Generally I don’t like to sell things so it all stays with me. I’m targeting to get one watch each from the holy trinity of watch brands in the coming years. i.e. AP, PP,VC

The familiar brands in my collection are: Seiko, Citizen, HMT, Titan, Timex, Ball, Tag Heuer, Longines, Cartier, Ulysse Nardin, Panerai, Rolex, Omega, Zenith, Jaeger LeCoultre, Glycine, Junghans, CCCP, Franck Muller, Tissot, Hamilton, Breitling, Roamer, IWC, Casio, Rado, Baume et Mercier, Orient, Bulova, Concord and Chancellor.

Having said that I keep watches in India and US and rotate them whenever I visit to home. So, they all get “some” wrist time.

Mate the size of Favre-Leuba Sea King watch may look small but once on the wrist it blends really well, considering my 8 1/4 inch wrist. Maybe our generation was born when watch sizes were a minimum 42mm and upwards. Nice to know a fellow Favre-Leuba Sea King owner.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Has anybody ordered from https://www.creationwatches.com/. They say 'DHL Express Priority Shipping with Insurance and Duties / Taxes pre-paid (2-4 days)' at checkout page but I wanted to be sure there won't be any customs liability here.

Yes you are absolutely correct, the new big watches have become the norm and as a result the older watches look small. I need one information, is there a Favre Leuba Sea Chief model as well, because I believe my watch might not be the Sea King. I have to check once I go back to India.

Yes mate indeed there is a Favre-Leuba Sea Chief model as well. I believe it came after Sea King model while both were being sold simultaneously. Both models donned the famous Favre-Leuba twin power manual winding movement that gave them an impressive power reserve of 50 hours. Those were the days when Swiss Watches used their own inhouse movements instead of ETA which has become a norm today for most mid range as well as high end swiss watches. Favre-Leuba was at the top when it came to movements and innovation during those times. Their watches were slim as well despite being mechanical.
