Love it! Can you please confirm if the dial is actually made of khaadi or is it just cheap printed plastic. I read online that it is indeed khaadi but i want to be sure. Thanks.

Re: Which watch do you own?

It is indeed khadi, and that's the beauty of it. Costs a not so minimal price of Rs 4,995, though

Yes Jeroen. It is one of the better quality fakes. I bought an Omega seamaster James Bond edition 14 years ago and it's still ticking ( albeit in my drawer with my other watches as I rarely use them, I don't like wearing watches anymore 🤦‍♂️)

Thanks
Piyush.

Has anybody brought back a watch from abroad. Is there any minimum exempt shopping limit if you want to get back the box et. al

Are you looking at any super expensive watch..? Standard Citizen (40 - 50K INR) is no issue at all if you are bringing in yourself.

Who will buy knowing it is a fake? Is "First Copy" the new name for what they euphemistically call a "Homage" watch? I have seen a few on Watchuseek forum.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Hi,
Is there a market for used watches in India? Somewhere one can reliably sell a watch for fair price.
And how does one ascertain fair price range of used watches?
I used to collect watches earlier and have given away all sub 15k ones.
I am thinking of selling off a Rado Ceramica (2011), HMT pilot (2013/14) a casio protrek (2012). Have boxes, bill warranty papers etc and in mint condition. Also have a rare titan from the 90's ( 3 dials plus moon) which watch shops say is very exotic but in well used condition- was not working for 10 years but finally got it restored in February thanks to an expert old hand. Titan shops never had parts.

Request for pointers if any
Thanks.

Attaching what's left in my collection now.
Will only keep the speedmaster- that's what I wear 95% of the time since I got it.

I’m totally against fakes/replicas but there’s no denying that there is a huge market for them.

And homage watches are completely different. A replica is a copy of a watch design (using the same brand name etc.) and is illegal whereas a homage is a watch inspired by a watch model and uses some similar design elements but the name is different and is legal.

Become a member of various Facebook groups, there are ones exclusively for buying and selling watches in India. I have a sold a couple on these groups, generally most people there are reasonable and understand that high quality watches command a high value. Other option is olx, but lot of non serious enquiries which do not materialise into transactions. Lot of nonsensical enquiries with ridiculous bargaining attempts which might irritate you

It won't be more than 50 k but since it's a friend who will be getting it, I wanted to just be sure.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Any HMT Automatic/Manual Winding Fans here?
I moved from Quartz to 'no watches' and back to Automatics, with a recent purchase of a blue dial Seiko 5(srpe63k1). Going crazy with NATO strap purchases and no Aliexpress is adding to the woes. Ordered a couple from USA, when I found a local company too(mooistraps for those interested).
Next purchase, I am eyeing the HMT Jubilee for the clean white look.
VikramVicky84, your HMT Pilot looks nice too and sent you a PM.

P.S. Folks in Mumbai, any reliable watchmaker who would service Omega, Rado, Rolex and now the Seiko ( Service for Automatics and Battery change for Quartz). Earlier, Time watches at Dadar TT was my go-to shop for regular maintenance and service, but they shut down a year or so ago.

Got a few from Japan last year. Nothing expensive though. A Citizen worth 14k INR, a Casio Baby-G worth 4k INR and a few low cost JDM Casios along with the boxes. The customs routed us through the green channel so the officials did not bother.

I’m not aware of the current limit of the goods you can carry back.
