This is all part of social media marketing which is the buzz now. Ever noticed that most new movie trailer/poster/motion poster releases/launches will appear in almost all of these top celebrities' face book pages as well, and at the same time.

Yes, I did notice that. I follow DQ and Prithviraj, and can see the same updates on both profiles. :p

And to add on – while the ‘thank you’ credits go on for 5 mins, each slide staying for at least 10 seconds, and then the actual credits (names of those who actually worked in the movie) goes on like a quick scroll.

May be this is how Malayalam movies work, but I haven't seen this in other languages. I don't know what ground reality is, but atleast on social media, all stars like DQ,Prithviraj, Mohanlal, Mammuty, Tovino etc. seem to be in good terms unlike say Telugu/Tamil/Kannada film industry.

Operation Java: 3.5/5
This movie isn't the smartest thriller around but at least the instances were different. The long running time doesn't feel heavy to watch. (I took a Zee 5 subscription just to catch this). A closer look at the functioning of a cyber cell, cases are shown realistically. Having said that, the script had scope to take it to an altogether different level. All the actors (Especially the youngsters, playing trainees) have performed well. the subtitles helped since I dont get the language

When discussing the same thing with my wife, her comment was that these are smart people, and they know that supporting each other and maintaining a sense of being a family only goes on to help each other. Also, the current generation has their views on getting along with each other sorted quite well.

[Wolf - Malayalam, Zee5]

Yet another of those minimal cast+single location movies that came out by the dozen during the pandemic. Here, a man decides to make a surprise visit to his fiancée's house and gets stuck there when the nationwide lockdown is declared (the lady is also alone at home because her single parent is in turn stuck elsewhere).

The movie has three distinct chapters, each ending with a twist. In the first the man's ultra-chauvinistic behaviour and the lady's revulsion to it are portrayed. In the second another male character is introduced who in direct contrast to the first, is mild-mannered, soft-spoken, respectful and chivalrous (maybe even a bit patronising). The first can't stand the second and this results in his behaviour and actions becoming progressively outrageous.

These two chapters are decently done. The movie was gripping till this point. But the third chapter went completely downhill. In particular, the final resolution is way too facile. To me it seemed as though the folks behind the movie couldn't figure out how to end it and took the easy, tried-and-tested way out.

None of the performances stood out, maybe except Irshad's, though even his faltered at times, and Jaffer Idukki's, who seem to be becoming the go-to actor to portray the archetypal creepy, lecherous, disgusting male character.

This thread has a dearth of Kannada movies, mostly because they don't make many good ones. Things are changing for the good now.
Here's a trailer of one such promising movie. And I'm not just saying it because my sister is involved in the production. :)
She's handling the post-production and was also involved with this trailer launch.

Which platform can we see this on and when?

That has not been finalised yet, AFAIK.

Actually the finishing touches to the post-production work will be complete by month end, assuming the lockdown ends on 14th.

Hero(Kannada)- 3.5/5

This is a new age Kannada black comedy movie and loved it. Good back ground music, nice screenplay and each character is portrayed very well. Downside, background score can get intrusive and you may miss dialogue, story though good is somewhat orthodox.

Jagame Thandhiram (Tamil) : 1 / 5

What an absolute flopshow of a movie. Started out so well with a fantastic concept - an indian gangster sent 'onshore' to do the same job there. Illogical storyline but could have been a good movie if the movie was done well. Dhanush does a fairly decent job holding the movie together - in fact he's the only reason one can bear the ~2.5 hours of movie time. First half is bearable; second half goes down the hole.

Ignore unless you are a fan of Dhanush.
