I never understood the hype around Charlie. It was an ok watch due to Dulquer and Parvathy. Tried to give Maara a shot and quit after 30-40 min. Did not click with me in any manner.

On a different topic, happened to watch Drishyam for the nth time again yesterday. Never fails to enthrall. Eagerly waiting for Drishyam 2, although I have a feeling that it has been done just to make some money. I hope I am proved wrong.

I agree. The songs are appealing, though.

Not keeping high expectation since the director himself said it's just the story of the family undergoing the effects of the murder and it's strictly a family drama.

Looks like everyone is behind a sequel now. Anjaam Pathira is coming with Aaram Pathira too.

With Murali Gopy in place I don't believe it will be a simple family drama. Fingers tightly crossed. Release just a fortnight away

Being a "KATTA" Lalettan Fan I will definitely miss those FDFS ambience

Cheers!

True. Won't be the typical family drama. There will be some element of excitement but guess it won't be as exciting as the first edition.

Guess we will have to wait a bit longer - Reports say they have pushed the release to Feb 12th. Not sure though.

The Great Indian Kitchen - Brilliant movie. Nimisha sajayan lives the role.
After a long time watched an intelligent movie that was not pretentious or an assault on the senses.
Must watch to understand the other view.

The Great Indian Kitchen (Malayalam) - Neestream

Signed up to the Neestream streaming service on a 4 day premium plan to watch this, based on the trailers as well as word of mouth reviews. The movie surely did not disappoint.

A movie that depicts the everyday life of a newly wed woman in a traditional household, with no attempts made to gloss over the chores that are associated with being a housewife. For the viewer, every scene is relatable, and Nimisha portrays the role to perfection. You'd notice there aren't many dialogues spoken in the movie, but when there is one, it is striking. Suraj essays the role of the husband in his own unmistakable flavour, and kudos to all the actors involved in ensuring there is no OTT acting.

Definitely worth a watch.

As a non-Malayalee who loves Malayalam cinema, would I be able to get English subtitles with the movies on this streaming platform.
I have AHA Telugu streaming platform and most of the new movies have English subs. One excellent job they have done is, they have dubbed a lot of Tamil and Malayalam movies into Telugu with English subs for streaming there.

Thanks in advance.

Wasn't aware of this plan. Thanks for the info.

They also seem to have a Fire stick app.

They do have English subtitles on this platform, but its provided slightly differently to for example, Netflix or Prime. When selecting which movie to watch from the list, make sure you select the option which has a banner saying English subtitles. The movie is shown as two separate tiles on the movies list, one specifically mentions English subtitles.

I didn't notice this till we had watched the movie (being the first time I was using this platform). My daughter would've preferred having the subtitles.

Even I wasn't aware of this platform till this weekend. I installed the Neestream app on my Android tv to watch.

Thank you for the prompt reply.
Understood that I must choose the movie option which has English subtitles in the banner.
Will subscribe for this service.

Your thoughts on another Malayalam OTT - Prime Reels?

I haven't checked out this platform as yet. I'd be interested to check the content on there.

Thank you for suggesting the 5 day premium plan which cost me $2 or ₹140.
Opted for that plan to have a general idea of the content available and if English subs are available.

Watched "The Great Indian Kitchen"
Excellent movie and superb performance by the lead whom I last saw in "Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum"
It is a difficult movie to watch for anyone reading the title and hoping for a cookery based show.
Thank you once again for suggesting the movie and streaming service plan.
