Berlin ZEE5

A Friday night well spent at home with this ‘hatke’ spy thriller. This isn’t a typical spy saga with cheap thrills but which goes little deeper in its treatment. Brilliant cinematography and visuals make this movie engaging, shot almost like a monochrome film. The story revolves around a deaf and mute man who is suspected of being a spy. Rahul Bose as a suave agent and Ishwaq Singh as the deaf and mute guy are superb in their roles. Aparshakti Khurana is good but has this same sad face going on for some time now. Nevertheless, two hours of good filmmaking. Recommended watch.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Bad Newz
What I liked:
+ Tripti Dimri has a ravishing presence.
+ One or two wise cracks were funny especially the reflexive dialogues about Vicky Kaushal.

What I didnt:

- Too many wise cracks and quick repartees, felt jarring to me as an audience.
- Abrupt scene transitions.
- Lack of emotional depth.
- Vicky Kaushal looked a little too over the top to me. Tripti was alright, but did not have much to express. Ammy Virk actually felt the better of the lot in one or two situations.

What I wished for
The plot had an interesting premise which could led to a good exploration of various narratives, love, parenthood, maturity of character. But they chose to go the "alleged" comedy route that too with excessive wise cracks, repartees and a jarring sequence of transitions. Made me wonder what the hell was actually going on?? All in all, a wasted effort in my view. 1.5/5

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

The Buckingham Murders - Rating 2 out of 5 stars.

Went to see this movie at Phoenix Parel and it was a reminder of why theatre footfalls have reduced, screens are shutting down and there is better entertainment on your home TV (thanks to OTTs).

Except for an initial 30 minutes with a moderate level of engagement, the rest of the movie is a snoozefest, with too many plot twists & turns in the murder mystery. Kareena is her usual good self, but the script doesn't support her talents at all. Also, the movie sure makes UK cops look dumb & incompetent.

Avoid going to the theatre. At best, watch it at home when it comes on streaming.

I want to support the movie industry by paying top rupee for tickets, but they keep letting me down. The entertainment quality is simply superior on the shows of Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV & others.

Tanaav 2 -

Direct rip off of Fauda 2, scene by scene, character by character, they even found guys with the same hairstyle for the same roles.

Kabir = Doron
Al Damishq = Al Maksadi

Everything is the same, you can even predict when the RPG will come, who will be killed, everything.

Just the location is changed from Gaza to Kashmir and Hamas is Harqat.

Chandu Champion - missed it in theatres, glad that I got it on OTT.

What an inspirational story, backed by solid direction and performances.
Sometimes, as the saying goes, truth is stranger than fiction
and there is nothing which is impossible.

I have no clue as to why this movie didn't work at the box office.
Hopes it find acceptance in television and OTT.

This is a movie which everyone should watch - 9/10

Sector 36

The Hindi Movies Thread-sec36.jpg

Inspired by the true story of the Nithari killings of 2006, this is an extremely difficult film to watch. Intensely disturbing, dark and brutal in equal parts, one will need steel nerves right from the very first scene, because the director leaves nothing unturned to keep those gut punches coming. You will look away horrified from your screen more than once.

Vikrant Massey is absolutely fantastic, specially in the scenes he shares with Deepak Dobriyal, who is equally good as a corrupt cop turned investigator. One particular scene between the two will have you squirming in your seats at a very casual yet horrifying narration.

Unexpected from the production house which has brought out the Stree franchise, but Maddock deserves a worthy shoutout.

Not to be watched by family, or those with weak hearts. Fair warning - keep the kids far away from this one. Best for a midnight watch, or when you are completely alone.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Kill is an amazing action movie - probably one of the best ever made in our country in this genre.

It's got lot of violence and gore, but if you loved 'The Raid' movies, then you should like this one a lot.

The fresh starcast has done a stellar job, and kudos to the director for trying this genre in India.

Rating - 4/5, must watch for action lovers.

Request everyone to please mention the OTT platform(if it’s on OTT i.e.) along with the reviews/recommendations. Makes it easier to find out. I for one trust our fellow bhpian reviews more than those paid media reviews, so often refer these movies/tv-series threads

You can install JustWatch app.
It shows the specific movie or series is available on OTT or not.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Kill. 3.5/5 (Hotstar)

Definitely gripping but too much violence and gore. Once started, you may not like to leave it in the middle of it. So, on that aspect alone, it definitely scores the points. Add the stellar performances of all actors. New faces and good work.
Where it lacks is some practicality- one hero kills them all which is a bit too much to digest especially in such a movie which is supposed to be more realistic and practical than what regular Bollywood churns out.
Also, on another note, just thinking that if robbers were allowed to just rob and leave (which was their original intention) then a lot of lives would have been saved and needless bloodbath could have been avoided.

Let's just say the Protagonist was like John wick. He was trained to kill and he did the killings in the most brutal manner. And lets not forget he didn't kill anyone till robbers didn't kill a specific person and then he went beserk which is understandable.

Robbers changed their agenda once they saw they can get more money by kidnapping the girl. So letting them Rob and leave wasn't an option anymore.

I hope Bollywood makes more movies which aren't of same genre and give chance to talented actors than the useless Nepo brigade.

Tanaav is a remake, not a rip-off of Fauda.

Fauda was brilliant.
Do we need to watch season 1 also or season 2 is stand-alone?

It was, indeed. S2 is a continuation to S1.
