Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Ra.One would easily recover what was invested (heard it was close to around 200 crore INR).
Actually they might have recovered most of the money just by selling rights.
They will also start making toys and other stuff to attract kids.

And the main reason it will not be a flop..
...Its supported by Rajnikanth.

Chitti from Robo is supposed to make a special appearance and help Shahrukh fight some villans.
Ra.One seems to be having some good special effects too.

Here you go.
Mr. Abraham, he's carrying the same expression when he laughs, cries, dances.
Even when he's shot!!
oh, you want to hear something you dont know?

Its a buff expo showcasing the man's physique.
A li'l bit of Genelia thrown, but less than JA.

Lots and lots of fights, unfortunately, none are very well executed.
And there are a lot of them.

Villain is some guy from the south, and has absolutely no presence as a menace.

Has a lil bit of parkour training, and its shown very clumsily.

Story's from a a south indian flick, yes?
well, it seems theyve taken the screenplay directly, since the climactic shots do not appeal.

Its not good, its not bad, its just so so.
keep as second choice.

Noone in the movie stands out, at all.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Watched Saheb Biwi aur Gangster.

A very nice and different from the recent you-watch-it-coz-I -made-it movies which are rather condescending for an average joe's intellect.

The characterization though not precise, was consistent. The acting skills were par excellence and are supported by witty dialogue. The narrative started off steadily and tended to slacken towards the end, but did not tend towards boredom. The plot becomes a bit predictive towards the end, but crisp performances did not let that dent the viewership experience.

While editing and cinematography scored really well, the music could have been better. All in all the movie entertains you and you walk out of the theater with a feeling of money well spent.

I rate the movie 3.5/5 specially for the witty dialogue and brilliant performances by the trio of Biwi, Saheb and Gangster.

+1 anilisanil.

Jimmy Shergill in particular is very impressive.

I would rate it 4/5.

FORCE

Agree with your comments about John's expression. Genelia is a wrong choice, there is absolutely no chemistry between the leading pair and songs look awkward!.

It is a remake of a Tamil movie which came out 7-8 years back. When they planned to make it in Hindi original director refused to direct saying that story is outdated.

First half of the movie was really boring except couple of action scenes.
Second half was OK, at the end it is not a good-not a bad movie. Screenplay was decent.

If you want some inspiration to hit gym, go watch it!!

I do not agree with your comment about the villian, he was a surprise package for all of us. He is a model and his name is Vidyut Jamwal, talk less and straight to action kind of villian. We all liked and few of my friends were telling he was better than John in the movie. Couple of his action scenes were really good. I think his voice is plus point, like Amrish Puri

I went with 0 expectation, my rating 2/5 decent one time watch.

Well, he is no different in the comic scenes in other movies as well.

As for the review, its sad to see the movie does not appeal.
I have watched the same in Tamil innumerous times, and also in the Telugu adaptation.

In Tamil, Surya played a role which defined his career, and was just excellent. Cinematography was a trendsetter and not to forget the music.

Its a pity that the Hindi adaptation doesnt live up to that standard. Anyway, with Genelia playing the heroine, i didnt have high hopes on the star cast.

No, it is not exactly a remake, the name and basic premise may be drawing some inputs from the classic. But Guru Dutt's one is absolute classic and can't be compared to this.

Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster

A good one time watch. Wish it had better songs and a little better climax. I was hoping for some clash between saheb and gangster. There are some minor flaws in script, but its pardonable.

Dialogues are real good. Jimmy shines and so does Randeep. Mahie is unbearable but she does good. Some other actress would have been good. Mahie reminds me Tabu all the time.

Good direction and photography. Overall, good one time watch.

3.5/5

Watched Sahib Biwi or Gangster, nice movie refreshing change from dabang singham ready etc. Jimmy Shergill is one of the most under rated actors around hope he gets more good movies to perform.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Saw Saheb, Bibi and Gangster yesterday. Wifey wasn't very keen but still came along on my insistence. And she was pleasantly surprised.

I agree with the general consensus that its a pretty well made movie with fast moving storyline and apt casting. Randeep Hooda acted quite well. But Deepal Shaw was a waste. Mahi Gill as usual was hot. And the ending was definitely superb!

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Just finished Blue Oranges on youtube movies channel. Well spent friday evening. A very well made movie, excellent screenplay and superb performances. Starring Rajit Kapoor. It sad that such movies disappear without a trace.
