GHOSTBUSTERS: FROZEN EMPIRE - 2.5/5

I'm a huge fan of Ghostbusters and I absolutely loved Afterlife, so it really breaks my heart that this was not at all at the levels of any of the previous movies.

The story for Frozen Empire doesn’t rely heavily on nostalgia, as the story focuses on both the new generation of Ghostbusters and new ghosts. But, we are still rewarded with seeing the surviving 1984 Ghostbusters give the Spangler family a hand.

Nicely put. We liked that movie because how its not only about Godzilla's rampage through out. The humans in it have a chance to make connection with viewers because the director has dedicated enough time for them unlike typical cheesy monster-destruction movies.
Most Godzilla movies show destruction for 2 hours and end. Gets boring pretty fast. I was never fond of those movies until -1 came.

8/10 for sure.

Also, this feels on topic since Godzilla is always shown in the sea wrecking havoc before he calls it quits and stations on land.

Saw John Wick:Chapter 4 on Lionsgate Play, it’s full time pass for Wick fans. Endless roller coaster of violence with a slick almost western movie type ending. Thoroughly enjoyable.

If anyone wants to do any brain application in John Wick movies then stay away.

Cheers

The Watchers
The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-unknown.jpeg

Rating: 2/10

There was a time when M. Night Shyamalan the name was enough to get us to the theatres. He specialised in simple movies with a twist, packing an emotional wallop very few of his contemporaries could. So when I read about his daughter turning to directing, and him producing and presenting the movie, I was hoping for something interesting.

The premise was, for sure. A woman gets lost in a forest and is taken into the woods to become a 'show' for 'The Watchers'. No one knows who or what they are, but they come each night and just watch from across the window. You are trapped inside a room, you cannot go out after sunset, you cannot leave the forest and you cannot let anyone inside. OK, I'm game.

Then a few minutes into the movie, I'm happy to see an old Jimny 3-door that she is driving into the woods! Gets lost, gets picked up and taken to the room. All good till then. Good atmospherics, decent direction.

And then suddenly, it's like there is nothing else to do. It's just 4 strangers, all of them caught, you are never really told how they got there or what is keeping them. They just literally sit and stand, one of them dances for the Watchers, but that is it. Listless.

And then we, as watchers, start to pray for the movie to end. Convenient trapdoors are found, nothing really happens and then when they manage to get out of the predicament, there is so much emotional vapidity, you don't even care. And by the end when we come to know about who the watchers are, you're just plain bored.

In case you like the premise, do me a favour and look for a show called 'From'. It is astoundingly good, has a lot of story, lots of episodes and is pretty much a similar idea but done really, really well. And will genuinely scare you in places each episode.

As far as 'The Watchers' go, don't watch it!

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5177120/

"The British military recruits a small group of highly skilled soldiers to strike against German forces behind enemy lines during World War II."

Nice fun movie to while the time away. Some really witty moments here and there and has me hoping for more movies with Cavill and Ritchson together

My World War history is a bit weak but was surprised to see all the armed forces generals of Britain advocating surrender in the movie!

3.5/5

Nothing ground breaking but not boring either.

Beverly Hills Cop - Axel F

If you have watched the first in the series, you will enjoy this as it has some discrete recreations of scenarios and people from the previous movie.

I enjoyed it - great time pass movie!

Agreed. Its a one time fun to watch movie although this edition is dedicated to all the aging actors. Eddie Murphy still manages to bring out the loud cop mannerisms and some good one liners. Joseph Gordon Levit and Kevin Bacon support ably. The story is not anything different from the previous movies. I hope they end the franchisee with this movie.

That BGM is so haunting and still appeals a lot.

Rating: 3/5. 1 point only for the BGM.

Movie was off to a slow start and wasn't working for me. They spent too much time reintroducing us to his mannerisms. I will try and catch the rest later.

Silent Night

Streaming: Amazon Prime

Same old story in same old bottle, nothing new. The action scenes are so weary and looks like John Wick in slow motion. The only good thing about the movie was there are hardly any dialogues, true to the movie title. Best to be avoided.

Rating: 1/5

Freelance

Streaming: Amazon Prime

A wasted John Cena in a movie with no plot, pathetic action comedy, wooden acting and the list goes on. A below average movie and can be totally avoided.

Rating: 0/5

I am surprised why are movies like Shazam: Fury of Gods, Blue beetle, Flash, Dune 2 etc not being aired on any OTT. Surely the returns must have already been recd I guess.

Surprised to see Kalki at 8th Position in Top 10 American box office for this week.

Fully agree with you on the plot, acting and pathetic action comedy with but sometimes these movies also need to be made Just for passing the time away.

But I felt that Juan Pablo Raba as President Venegas did a brilliant job
