Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched The Beautiful Game yesterday due to Bill Nighy in starcast, but the movie underwhelmed. For me Rotten Tomatoes ratings are better than IMDB, Google reviews or other reviewers except Roger Ebert. But in the case of this movie RT fresh rating of 88% meant shite.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

I just binged on 3 The Equalizer movies (1,2 & 3)on Amazon Prime. What a performer Denzel Washington is! So. effortless.

The Equalizer series will be soon out of Prime by the end of this month. Watch it while you can!

Anatomy of a fall - Prime

An intense drama, part court room and part family. A man falls to death and his wife is the main suspect. Their blind son is the main witness. We, like the courtroom and the people in it, become voyeurs in looking at their relationship. The movie is partly in English and partly in French.

I downloaded the movie for in-flight viewing, guess I will have to search for another one then if it's that bad.

If you are into adventure/fantasy genre, newly launched Netflix movie Damsel is comparatively better than Knights of the Zodiac. It has simple but better story and beautiful to look at.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched Children of Men yesterday, it's a great watch for sci tech that was used in 2006, and the music. Hope & Faith is the theme I would say.
It's available on Amazon Prime.

Got to watch it again. IMO it's easily one of the best sci-fi movies ever. 5/5. The movie has bunch of one shot scenes, all iconic. Clive Owen's top performance too. This and District 9 are my two top dystopian movies.

We are having a Gunfu/Martial Arts fever right now. Next in the lot are 80's action/science fictions types like Escape From LA, Ghost Of Mars, Lethal Weapon, etc.

I am not much into this type of movies but this reminded me there are two movies that I can watch any time again and again : Armour of God 1 and 2 starring Jackie Chan. So much fun. Peak Jackie Chan entertainment. Probably not hardcore Martial arts but just enjoyable!

I think I have watched City Hunter. Definitely not Project A though. Thanks for recommendation, I wasn't aware.

Surprisingly, I never cared to watch these movies as I always thought that Denzel Washington is not an action star but, more of a method actor.

Boy, how wrong was I in that assessment. When I watched Equalizer 1, I was bowled over and just like you watched all 3-movies in quick succession a few weeks ago.

I think the 1st was best and 3rd and 2nd followed suit.

Would rate a solid 4.5/5 for all 3 movies. Must watch !!!

Little correction, The Equalizer series is available on Netflix and not on Amazon Prime.

Antoine Fuqua and Denzel Washington are a match made in heaven. Watch their other collaborations like The Magnificent Seven, Training Day as well. His association with Mark Wahlberg also produced movies like The Shooter and Infinite. One of my favourite action movie directors

Also, Denzel is a fantastic action star, example- Man on Fire

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire yesterday with my monster loving 7 year old who enjoyed it throughout. The movie is everything a kaiju lover can expect from a sequel. No end or mid credit scene though.
