Blue Beetle : 3 / 5

Basically, it's an introduction (movie) of another superhero into the DC universe; and there's not a lot one can expect from such movies. However, what's interesting to watch is the Mexican culture that's thrown in as the protagonist and his family showcase through and through the movie. Worth an OTT watch at most.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Reptile- Netflix

The movie is a thriller and a murder whodunit starring Benicio Del Toro, Alicia Silverstone and Justine Timberlake. The movie has the elements of a capable crime thriller and succeeds to a great extent but the open ending leaves it to the viewer to make the call about who the murderer can be. It was good to see Benicio Del Toro with Alicia Silverstone after long. Good one time watch.

Rating: 3/5

P.S- Bone Collector- a movie I loved during the late nineties when I was in college has showed up on Netflix. It is a definitive movie on how to solve a murder by looking at the clues from the crime scene. I remember back in the days, the Guwahati police had arranged for a screening at one of the cinema halls for the entire police force. If anyone has not seen the movie yet, please do give it watch. One of the masterpieces starring Denzel Washington and a very young Anjelina Jolie.

The Equalizer 3 - 3/5

Except for the assassination scenes at the start and towards the end, there is nothing much in this film. Good photography makes up for the otherwise a melodramatic movie. For me, it was more like an Italian version of KGF.

Reptile - 3.5/5

Benicio Del Toro has done justice to his role. The plot is good for one time watch.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched a pretty cool movie that just hit Netflix.

Fair Play = 4 / 5. Extremely engaging, sometimes dark, movie about a young couple climbing up the ranks at a hedgefund. They are happy in love, until the woman gets an unexpected promotion. This creates turmoil in their relationship.

Excellent movie with great performances! Lots of adult stuff, so not family-friendly.

Talk about coincidences! Watched it last night and definitely agree with everything that you said.

The end really had me wanting more.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1 will be available to rent/buy on Book My Show stream from 12th October. So in all probability, it'll be available on one of the OTT platforms, mostly Amazon Prime on rent. Similar was the case with Top Gun Maverick.

Granturismo was a surprise.
Had good CGI, a decent storyline which is inspired from a true story. Acting was good for large parts. And the cars, drool worthy. A time well spent. Should have watched it in movie hall. I am a little biased too cos I play GT7 regularly.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

No hard feelings

Streaming: Netflix

The movie belongs to Jennifer Lawrence for her undeniable charm and its a joy to see her show the emotional and playful side of the character. I was surprised to see Mathew Broderick (Inspector Gadget fame) as he was unrecognizable. Rest of the cast were pretty unknown but did play their part to the plot. One time see is recommended only for Jennifer Lawrence.

A Good Year
2006 ‧ Romance/Comedy

I like Russell Crowe as an actor and this is a nice feel-good movie. Good choice if you are a Russell Crowe fan and need a break from more intense movies. Rental on youtube/apple TV.

After I watched "A Good Year", Apple TV recommended "Made in Italy" (starring Liam Neeson) which turned out be a dud.

Jules

The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-1.jpg

I expected a lot more when they started off with the main instance of the movie, but they just carried off with the same pace. But never disappointing but definitely could have made it better. Ben Kingsley was really good and others supported him well. Overall, it's a good watch.

Rating - 4/5 (Available on a 3rd party streaming provider). Recommended one time watch.

No one will save you

The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-2.jpg

Like others had mentioned, it looked like a mix of different movies but this is more of a cat and mouse game. It started off well, then it was a disaster I would say. As the movie progressed, I increased the speed of the playback (1x, 2x, 5x etc). Since there are hardly any dialogues, you can skip and yet understand it.

Rating - 1.5/5 (Available on Disney Hotstar). Skip it.

Reptile

A slow burner, but it was a good one. Story isn't anything new or great but it does make you want to finish it. Great acting by all especially Benicio.

Rating - 3.5/5 (Available on Netflix). Recommended one time watch.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Fair play

Streaming: Netflix

The movie started of well and I was expecting something of the "Billions" but it fizzled out midway with lot many personal equations coming and less of the competition expected. There was no Cat and mouse game thing happening in the plot.

Oppenheimer:

A bit late I know but watched it on imax yesterday. Honestly did not see what the big fuss was about and at 3Hrs long it was a bit overboard for me.

Would rate it a 3/5. Could have easily chopped off 30mins or so from the movie and it would have felt taut!

But amazing acting by Cillian and Robert.

Was the USA that paranoid about communism back then?

Nun II:

What a snoozefest it was.

2/5

Less said, the better.
