No? Maybe its only me, then
Beware there are huge movie spoilers going around net.

I am quite excited for this due to comeback of doctor octavius.

I am also excited for TOP GUN Maverick next week. I saw Top Gun first time in 1990, I was 9 years old and my first English movie ever. Needless to say I loved it and it remains a very fond memory. This will be a sure shot IMAX watch.

The Gentlemen | Amazon Prime

4/5

Typical Guy Ritchie movie with a stellar cast. Watching it for the second time today. For those hooked on to Succession note that it has Jeremy Strong as well. Lots of plot twists in classic Guy Ritchie style.

Tides (The colony) | Amazon prime

2.5 / 5

It is a Sci-Fic mashup with WaterWorld (sans Kevin Kostner)
Timepass movie.

Is it that bad? I was planning to watch it in theatre as I feel 3D movies are best experienced in imax. Been 1 year 8 months since I last visited theatre (thanks to covid) , so wanted to break the streak with something fun. Maybe will skip this and wait for spiderman-no way home

This was one fun movie and I agree with your rating. Good twists and brilliant acting.

Also caught up with Wrath of Man. It's a 3.5/5 good watch.

Red Notice
Typical Rock movie. Cheesy and expected storyline. The twist could be seen from mile away. Ryan Reynolds was the only good part of this one. Timepass but easily avoidable.

I watched the movie in 2D but I don't think even the 3D effects of IMAX can save this movie. I went for 2D because I watched No time to Die in 3D and in all honesty, the mask and 3D glasses aren't a good combination.

Shang-Chi:

While it was a watchable movie, felt it was a bit too long and ultimately once the movie was over, it was forgotten.

3/5.

The Wave (Norwegian: Bølgen) is a 2015 Norwegian disaster film directed by Roar Uthaug. The movie is about a geologist that discovers some weird activity in the mountains in Akneset (Norway). Later they discover that unless they evacuate the whole city in time, a piece of the mountain will fall into the water and create a monster wave of 80m that will crush everything in its path.

Milla Jovovich as Kate Abbot is a State Department employee newly posted to the American embassy in London is charged with stopping terrorists from getting into the U.S. That puts her right in the line of fire and she is targeted for death and framed for crimes. Discredited, she is forced to go on the run while she tries to clear her name and stop a large-scale terrorist attack in the US.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Shang chi

I think Marvel got this one wrong, nothing felt like this was a super hero movie. The cast is unknown, the lead actor doesnt anytime feel like he is ready to be a superhero. The lead actress hammed a lot. Michelle Yeoh has aged and doesnt suit doing some martial stunts. Above all my son was disappointed on seeing a Marvel movie, says a lot. Can skip if there are better options.

Rating: 1.5/5

Jungle Safari

Watched this movie just for Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. Story is nothing interesting, the usual stuff of Amazon adventure, the ending though had a twist. But the movie is one time watch. Wacth only if you are fans of lead actors.

Hunter Hunter

Someone recommended this to me as a Man Vs Wild vs Man horror flick. The way the movie took off was just crazy. Nothing like any movie I have seen recently and recommend it highly for any fans of this genre

Rating 4/5

Not saying much on the plot to avoid any spoilers - its about a family who resist moving to the town and are holed up in a remote cabin in the woods and what they encounter .

Shang Chi & the Legend of Ten Rings

Rating: 2/5
A big snooze fest and the most boring Marvel movie so far (yup, considering Thor: The Dark World too). The action choreography is good but the storyline is hideous. The entire cast feels disassociated with the audience. Give it a pass.

I wonder how bad would The Eternals be is it is being panned by the same critics who hailed Shang Chi.

Red Notice

Rating: 3.5/5
A typical heist masala movie. Rock is playing Rock-typical law enforcement guy & Reynolds is pretty much a costume-less Deadpool.
Still a much better time-pass movie than Shang Chi.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched The Big Short on Netflix.
Enjoyed it thoroughly, nicely made and explained accompanied with great acting and some great actors.
Will give a solid 4.5/5

It is about how a group of people made profits from the 2008 sub-prime crisis.
You do need to have some basic knowledge on how bonds, mortgages etc work or else may find the film too fast paced and everything going above the head. I had to pause and go back a few times to properly understand and also Google a few things here and there but if you go through the pain then you will enjoy the movie, how people identified an opportunity and made riches while taking huge risks!
