The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7533152/

"Against all the odds, a thirteen-year-old boy in Malawi invents an unconventional way to save his family and village from famine."

Based on a true story, it's a heart wrenching uplifting movie. Amazing acting by Chiwetel Ejiofor who directed and wrote the script as well.

4/5 for me

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

The fundamentals of caring (2016) - Netflix

A feel-good light comedy starring Paul Rudd, Craig Roberts and Selena Gomez. It is about a kid Trevor who suffers from muscular dystrophy and his care giver Ben, who is struggling through a personal tragedy. To get Trevor out of the house, Ben suggests a road trip to see the places the former collects trivia about. The movie is based mostly around this road trip and the hilarious and touching chemistry between the two main characters. A good watch.

My rating - 4/5

I dont think so - at least, not to my knowledge. It is well worth buying an official version or downloading it because this can be watched tons of times. A typical feel good comedy film.

Where do we buy this movie with an Indian account, not available on Google Play? Any other platforms?

On similar lines, do watch Rat Race, this has a similar theme and a feel good ending.
Good bunch of actors as well.

The Guilty, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, available on web-streaming.

The movie is about a troubled cop answering phones in 911 call-centre, and features no scene outside this environment.
I literally turned off the video, put on my headphones, closed my eyes for almost the entire duration of the movie; and thoroughly enjoyed it.

If You are a fan of a little slow, drama thrillers, You will enjoy the movie.

Tell me about it. Even the cameos (Don Knotts, The Three Stooges, Buster Keaton, Jerry Lewis) are memorable. Absolutely love it to bits.

I think it's on Amazon.com. Not on any Indian streaming sites that I know of.

I had the region-free DVD which a friend from the US sent over. It became damaged during a house shift so I later hunted down the complete 3 hour 17 minute Extended version and downloaded a copy of it.

Seen it. Felt a bit underwhelming TBH, inspite of the ensemble cast. Every time Rowan Atkinson came on screen, I was waiting for him to exclaim "Bean!" in his own unimitable style.

A better option would be Scavenger Hunt (1979). It's a better influence and also has a huge ensemble cast, including Scatman Crothers, Ruth Gordon, Roddy McDowall, and features cameos by Meat Loaf, the great Vincent Prince and Arnold Schwarzenegger. See if you can find this.

I am a huge movie buff since childhood and watch a ton of films in my spare time. Whenever I come across a good one which is worth a rewatch, I note it down and see if I can find a copy of it.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Just watched the 2015 military drama "Eye in the Sky" on Prime Video. An impressive star cast featuring Helen Mirren, Alan Rickman and Aaron Paul (in a refreshingly sober role compared to his Breaking Bad/ El Camino turns).

The movie is based in Nairobi, Kenya and the local cast is also brilliant in their roles (I won't spoil anything- watch it yourself!)

Rated 7.5/10. It's a good gripping, one-off watch is my assessment.

Brilliant performance by the late Alan Rickman. His parting words still ring true -"Never tell a soldier that he does not know the cost of war !".

Not sure how I missed this, premise looks like Rat Race & Dhamal kind of movie. Is this available in any OTT platform?

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched "Prey" on Netflix. I knew what to expect going in and I still came out disappointed and confused.
Lot of loose ends and poor acting. It does actually start on an interesting note and just goes down the hill every passing moment. You consistently start questioning actors' actions and decisions as the movie progresses.

If you avoid it, nothing of value will be missed.

1/5.
