Johnny English - Strikes Again!

A typical Johnny series movie with Rowan Atkinson apprising his role as Johnny English. To give him company is Olga Kurylenko.

3.5/5

Available on Netflix starting today.

Angels in the Outfield - 1994

The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-screenshot_1.png

Stumbled upon this movie few days back since it had some amazing names like Danny Glover, Matthew McConaughey, Adrien Brody, Tony Danza to name a few. It was a sweet little movie and really enjoyed it. Pretty good VFX considering it's an old movie.

Rating - 4.5/5

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Hi all, I'm new to this community & thread. And, had been trying to see where, in this community, can I start my contribution from.

Looks like I found it. So, I did a quick search for these below movies on this thread and I must say, I'm very surprised to not find the 'Blackfish' and 'Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father' movies in this thread.

Well, either you guys have been missing out on two real good documentaries until now OR I'm really bad at 'searching' stuff on TeamBHP . In any case, these movies are, both, a must watch and you will not regret investing your time in these. Also, you can thank me later!

PS - Some might find them to be tear jerkers. So, beware!

I am unable to find this in Amazon Prime. Was it available before?

Edit: Ah never mind. It has been removed, saw in the older posts.

My Sister's Keeper : 5 / 5 stars and can be a family watch too . Very emotional story about a young girl who is being used as a "parts car" for her terminally-sick sister. That young girl & Cameron Diaz shine!

It's on Netflix:

Don't know whether this can be recommended or not as many won't find this interesting. But I totally loved it. Not many expressions from Tommy Lee but what an acting - the expression of a concerned father not knowing where his son is, you can really make out from his face.

Rating - 5/5

Watched this last night, thanks for the recommendation, surely a good movie to catch up on. What surprised me was the casting! Apart from the leads Tommy lee jones, Susan Sarandon and Charlize Theron, the movie also had Josh Brolin, James Franco playing really short roles, guess it was very early in their movie careers!

Watched a really nice drama - The Professor - on Prime Video. Will give it 4 / 5 stars. Never been a fan of Johnny Depp, but loved him in this flick. He's done justice to the role of a professor who gets diagnosed with a terminal illness, and how his perspective changes.

Worth 1 watch. Just the final 20 minutes are a bit slow.

Thanks for the tip GTO. Sounds promising.

Wasn't a big fan of Depp either but watching him in this movie was amazing!

BLACKkKLANSMAN 2018 - Available on Netflix starring John David Washington and Adam Driver. Directed by Spike Lee. The movie is based on a true story of how a black cop pretended to be a KKK member and had them arrested. Good watch

Tenet : 5/5

Watched Tenet at Sathyam cinemas Chennai. What a mind-bending movie! Inception and Interstellar concepts are like walk in the park compared to Tenet. Memento could come a close second. Certainly needs multiple watch to fully appreciate the little things and wrap our head around this new concept of time travel limited to an object/person. Must watch in theatres.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Sound of Metal playing on Amazon Prime. Stellar performance by Riz Ahmed who plays a drummer who suddenly loses his hearing ability. The two hour movie is impressive for the treatment and the star cast justifies it brilliantly. Little slow to start with but an engaging watch.

Also, another Riz Ahmed gem is also playing on Netflix. The Reluctant Fundamentalist starring him and including Om Puri, Shabana Azmi, Adil Hussain, Kate Hudson and Liev Schreiber. The movie is something on the lines of another brilliant Pakistani movie named Khuda ke Liye but with a little deviation.

Watched this random movie while searching for horror movies on Amazon Prime:

Dead Birds:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0377749/

A bit boring but ok. We are running out of horror movies to watch

This action movie was surprisingly good though:

Thanks! Will watch. I have a feeling you will love Whiplash, easily a 5 star movie IMHO. On Prime:
