Pan's Labyrinth:

Pretty good movie. A dark look into the imaginations of a child.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

1. Go! (2020): This is a teenage family movie. It's about go karting and how he overcomes his fears (and daddy issues). I think this movie is heavily inspired from Karate Kid storyline. Don’t expect too much from this movie. An average watch with the family on a Saturday weekend - 2.5/5

2. Spenser Confidential (2020): I think these kinds of movies are becoming too common these days. This is a typical crime drama movie wherein an ex-cop takes down criminals to prove his friend’s innocence. Netflix has promoted this movie too much. God knows why - 2/5

3. Swallow (2019): Well this is a unique and a sad movie that I have seen in a while. It basically revolves around the people suffering from Pica disease. The movie is about a girl who is suffering from the aforementioned disorder. although the disorder has been depicted well, I feel it could have been a lot better. I may tell you that this movie has some very disturbing scenes that may not be suitable to all the audience and this is coming from a guy who loves SAW movies - 3/5

4. Sonic The Hedgehog (2020): All the nineties kids insert one rupee coin here to continue Yes this movie is totally based on the game by Sega that we used to play on our CRT television. Jim Carrey (Robotnik) is just timeless. Actually he is the perfect fit for the villain role in this movie. A perfect one time watch movie the family evening esp if you have boys at home. Stick around for the surprise at the end. - 4/5

5. Richard Jewell (2019): This movie is based on true events (I guess). It’s about how a wanna be cop saves thousands from a bomb planted at a national park. He was first reported as hero but later just because he ‘fits’ the profile of a terrorist, it all goes south for him. It also shows the ugly side of media and police. A good watch. - 3.5/5

6. Guns Akimbo (2019): This is what I call a colossal waste of time and money. It really pains to me to see harry potter (Daniel Radcliffe, I am stupid) stoop to such level. The movie basically lacks everything and plot is too simple to develop any interest. So in this movie, Daniel Radcliffe had guns bolted to his hand and his survival after that. This is loosely based on the movie Death Race (2008). - 1/5

7. Bombshell (2019): With #metoo moment going on, this is a perfect movie to see. I wouldn’t say that this movie is something you would like but its definitely one time watch in terms of awareness. In the movie a group of ladies stood up to their boss who was sexually harassing them. Overall, the movie is mediocre with a good storyline. - 3.5/5

8. Birds of Prey (2020): I don’t even know why this movie was made in the first place. This movie basically should be renamed Harley Quinn movie. Apart from her typical shenanigans, this movie has nothing to offer. Yes good fighting sequences but nothing more than that. A good one time watch perhaps. Be ready for a surprise in the end. - 3/5

9. Grudge (2020): I am pretty sure all of you here have already watched Grudge movies while in the college or school years. This movie well, I seriously don’t understand the purpose of the movie. It neither has a real connection to the original Grudge movie except for the same concept/storyline nor connection to the original cast. There was actually no scare in the movie and I had a good laugh every time they tried to scare us. You are better off without watching this movie - 1/5

10. Star Wars Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker (2019): With this movie, Star Wars Saga has come to an end after 42 years and personally for me, its the worst way the Saga has ended. From some years back, they (producers) have veered off from the original plot and characters and led to a typical sequel/prequel that is a shame to the original star wars movie. This movie in no way was not the rise of skywalker, sigh!. This ending has left so many holes in the plot which I don’t know if they are going to be answered but do tune in a good one time watch with sound scores and visuals. 3/5

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Not exactly a movie but a documentary about the epic fight between Audi Sport Team Joest and Peugeot Sport, both diesel powered contenders, at the 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans. Audi beat a much faster Peugeot by sheer strategy and will power. Classic duels of Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen against an all F1 starred Peugeot team led by Jacques Villeneuve. Narrated by hollywood petrolhead Jason Statham himself!

2008: Truth in 24

There was also its sequel about the 2011 race when Audi again beat Peugeot by just 13 sec.

Also, I bought the UHD blu-ray of Ford Vs Ferrari, love this thing

Semi realsitic, yes, but overall kind of lets you know that there will be no zombies, and there will be no overnight wipeout....

Dont watch with expectation of walking dead, or big fights in saving humankind.
peaople just riot, and victims just die

Overall : 3/5

I caught up with this movie last weekend. No drama and felt like a documentary in the current corona situation.

Work from home is slowly become boring.

Any good mystery thrillers to suggest? In the line of 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'??

Shutter Island

Just finished watching it (Netflix). Typical Martin Scorsese movie and a mind bender. Leonardo's act is excellent.

It's masterful. Do watch revolution road also. Story is a little off, but DiCaprio is a joy to watch.

Saw Alpha Dog yesterday. Will give it 3.5 / 5 stars. A great one-time watch about a drug dealer who kidnaps another drug dealer's brother.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Happened to see The Bucket list Last night, starring Jack Nicholson‎ & ‎Morgan Freeman‎ - two fine actors. A good movie, will give it a solid 4/5 mostly due to the acting and (much used now, but still something that always touch the cords) plot of ensuring to strike out every item in your bucket list before you call it a day on this earth.

The Banker : 4 / 5

Brilliant movie set in the 60s about a true story on how two enterprising black men went about owning one business after another, and then finally realized that owning a bank is the ultimate step; all in a time that saw the black folks only ideal as as workers and not as owners.

Ha ha. I saw it yesterday as well. Echo your thoughts. Very good way of storytelling and did not even realize the length of the movie. Samuel Jackson, though subdued, is a class apart

1917

Watch it for the brilliant editing, cinematography and BGM (just at the right places). Brilliant acting as well. Although I knew it had some clever editing, I was curious to find out more on the making. Some few videos on YouTube and was amazed to see how it was filmed and also the equipment used.

Rating - 5/5 (Must watch)
