Well said, summarizes my feelings too. As an epic end to a decade of build-up, it could not have been done any better. Subtle references to previous events and cameos by characters from decade old movies, it is full of Easter Egg for an MCU fan. I watched it again over this weekend.

The big question that remains is 'What next?' How will the MCU grow in the coming years? There are lots of speculations and some definite answers. Nevertheless, exciting times ahead.

Looks like Marvel has clear answers to that question, so that people don't close this chapter and move on! They want the young guy to step up and take the lead.

PS: (Spoiler alert for those who haven't watched endgame yet)

There is a lot! Marvel universe has an A-list, B-list and C-list of superheroes based on the popularity of the comics. Remember the Blade series? That was a C-list superhero who practically kicked-off and showed the movie potential of showcasing these superheroes and super-villains in the "real" world; than a makeshift city/world/dimension.

Comics-wise, Spiderman was considered their biggest asset; hence the multiple reboots by Sony and now Marvel. There are many such assets that they haven't explored yet; plus there is always the open rumor of X-Men being integrated back into the MCU.

Remember the Deadpool series? Ryan Reynolds been literally putting out rhetorical questions of him and Hugh Jackman (alias the Wolverine) doing a movie together since ages (can always be a prequel/in the past)

Tom Hardy and Venom haven't seen any movement after the Venom movie. There's a whole scope of super-villains theme that is yet to be explored!

So there is a lot that is possible. And with Disney being the owner of the MCU; there's no way they are going to let this cash cow sit idle

IMO we are set for some interesting times. It was getting a bit redundant and repeated if you ask me (with the Avengers). Time for some fresh ideas and superheroes!

I am a big fan of both Deadpool movies. Sometimes it is such a refreshing/cleansing feeling to watch a movie like Deadpool where the characters say exactly what they want to say and not what the censor board wants them to say. Total riot of freedom of expression !!!

Ryan Reynolds has aced the role, especially the dialog delivery. As Deadpool does not really have any strings attached to the rest of the MCU, they can keep making movies without much "what happened then" logic.

Deadpool-2 made a record of its own, when it became the highest grossing R Rated movie of all time. So there is no category left for Marvel studios to create or break a record.

In this whole Marvel and Endgame discussions, we are forgetting a long queue of movies from DC. I am really looking forward to Wonder Woman-2. So far, in the DC world, I think Wonder Woman is the strongest and best developed character. Gal Gadot did a fantastic job in the 1st one and in my opinion, she was much better than Brie Larson in Captain Marvel, in a woman-centric superhero movie.

Then we have Flash, Green Lantern (Ryna Reynolds Green Lantern was a disaster, thank God he got the Deadpool role), Aquaman-2. However, DC studios got a knee jerk setback after Ben Affleck quit as Batman. If DC can somehow get Christian Bale, they can pull a lot of crowd.

A Quite Place Rating: 4/5
Well made movie with a very interesting concept at its core. There are hardly few dialogues that you will hear throughout the movie. Rest of the movie is all silent, because the creature hates sound and demolishes anything and everything that makes a sound. Good acting by all actors.

Only issue is that we directly enter the story on the 472nd day. We never know how & from where that creature came and why the hell it hates sound. Is everyone in that town already dead or have fled? If others have fled, why was this family still there?

Interesting trivia about this movie. When this movie was released in USA, audience was not allowed to carry any food items or plastic stuff, inside the theater during movie screening, especially things that can make some sound and disturb the atmosphere.

Netflix has a series going called "Slience". Many are criticizing that this series is a complete rip-off of A Quiet Place.

The Reva was sold in the UK, where it made for an alternative in the city car segment. It didnt have to pay the congestion charges to ply in the city limits in London on account of it being non-polluting.

Correct, Reva was sold in UK as G-Wiz. Even Clarkson had a Top Gear episode on that.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Finally saw the much-hyped 'Endgame'. If i had paid the ticket prices that were being mentioned on this thread when the movie was just released, I would have jumped off the balcony! (does any theater these days have a 'balcony' anymore?)

Decent TP (time-pass), but it's obvious they were just tying up loose ends and finishing the whole thing up. Not as good as several other movies in the franchise for sure.

There are multiplexes in Manipal now?! During my college days, there were about 5(? I think) 'LD' (laser-disk) theaters dotting the place. Small, each had maybe 30-40 seats, 4-5 shows a day. They used to stick hand-written posters listing the shows at a few spots. Passing by those posters and checking out the shows and timings was one of the highlights of the day. Tickets at the counter only, could just walk in to any movie, very, very rarely were they ever full. Used to be a mix of new releases and old classics.

Till this day, feel silly about booking in advance for a movie, in Bangalore, still would like to just walk in and take in a movie on a whim.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

So, I watched the Endgame second time last week. First time I booked the day advance bookings opened (and still got 3rd row from the front). Anticipation and the build-up that the movie had, watching it the first time in a jam-packed hall, filled with teenagers and college going youngsters was an experience like going back in time (I'm 35 now). I guess fans of the Marvel franchise had all tried to watch the movie as soon as possible to avoid spoilers, and there were loud cheers at every guest appearance, every scene having a reference to past 20 movies and good amount of whistles and claps.

Last week I saw in a big movie hall, with big screen and with just about 15 people in all. There was dead silence, as if zombies were watching the movie. As a standalone movie, Endgame is just about average, the USP lies in how the movie, being a culmination of 11 years and 21 movies worth of build-up, delivers the end with aplomb.

Tying up loose ends, managing to squeeze in each and every actor worth a name that has ever appeared in any of their previous movie, setting up avenues to potentially lead to next phase of MCU movies with new characters, it is no less than a mammoth accomplishment. There could not have been a better ending to this "infinity Saga" than endgame. For this feat, it deserves all the success it is garnering worldwide.

I watched again, Thor: the dark world few days back and Avengers: Age if Ultron on Star movies yesterday. It amazed me (esp. Age of Ultron, which released in 2015, started production in 2014 and probably conceived in 2012) how they spread the canvas so large, so early for a 2019 finish. Age if Ultron is the most directly connected movie to the Infinity war and endgame .

Watched Avengers, the endgame 3D.
I thought it was ok-ish, but I don't see what all the fuss is about. If you are looking to spend three hours of your time watching a movie with some good bits, but also quite a bit of slow and tedious stuff this is the movie to go and see.

Way to much complicated endless dialogue for my likings. Some of the action is as always out of this world.

They are all gone now. No more soft porn on public screens.

You should visit Manipal once again and see how much it has changed. Maybe catch a movie at the local multiplex.

Haha, yeah! I have actually visited a couple of times, place has certainly transformed, looks like a mini city now. But got to see so many of the older classic movies in those LD theaters. Now I guess it's only new releases in the multiplexes.

I watched the trailers and sadly it felt like watching 1990's PC game. I guess it will be worth watching once it hits Netflix or Amazon Prime not on the big screen.
