Excellent films there! I have watched all the films you mention. I'd Add 3-Iron & Ode to my father, to your list. We must have a seperate thread on International movies.:)

The Mule: 3/5

A decently paced drama about a workaholic father who strays on the wrong path while trying to earn an extra few dollars. This is a simple spin on the never ending runs between cartels and DEA and how the smallest cog in the drug wheel plays out.
Laurence Fishburne, Bradley Cooper and Michael Pena are extremely underutilized as the movie is entirely run by Eastwood from start to end.

Bhpians might enjoy the drug transport runs that Eastwood does across the span of the US, reminds of the priorities of our travelogue as Eastwood reminds numerous times on how to enjoy the journey than just doing it fast.

Vice (2018)

This is a movie about Dick Cheney, the puppet-master, the real president and the Vice President during the boy-Bush era. However what this movie is also about is, taking a giant crap on boy-Bush. Though this movie isn't all about the truth, one must applaud the courage of the film-makers to take a huge pot-shot and crap on perhaps one of the most powerful political families in America, ever. Also the audience/public in America are quite mature to accept and laugh at such a portrayal

Good things first, Christian Bale whacks it out of the park as the Vice, Dick Cheney.. the rest of the supporting cast are good as well but not nearly in his league.. Amy Adams is a horrible actress and this reinforces that.

The story and writing is STRONG, specially in scenes where Dick is showing his total experience, manipulative powers and skill over boy-Bush. The best line in the movie is when he tells Bush that being VP is mostly a symbolic job, and he'd like to gain control over the more mundane aspects of presidential duties like military, oil and energy, bureaucracy, foreign policy (the money-spinners) to make his sacrificial job acceptance "more interesting" and boy-Bush cluelessly nodding and accepting the offer.. that took the cake.

This movie re-affirms what I've always believed about governance and politics.. that it is NEVER a one-man show, it is always to appease the industrialists and billionaires and its always a puppet-regime to throw dust over the common-man's eyes.

The movie dulls-out big time the last half-hour but overall its worth a watch, specially with Bale being prime-candidate for Oscars for this.

Thanks for the review (you forgot to rate it though :) ); been waiting on this for a long time; however haven't seen it in the theatres around here in Chennai. Guess will have to wait for it to hit the streaming sites or *other* options lol:

Hope people add the source of the movies that they see. Is it on TV channels (we can expect a repeat) or any streaming sites along with the usual rating and review.

Its a typical Adam McKay movie, like The Big Short.. same cast as well. I don't particularly like his overall story-telling but the topics he chooses to expose are great to know, in a comedic fashion. More skeletons will tumble from the closet soon, the White House is a gold-mine for comedy, hope he does Billy and Hilly next. I won't say I'm blown-away by the movie.. so a 4/5 from my side, then again very few movies hit the blown-away scale. This is a Chris Bale film all the way, without him it won't have had that effect.

Wind River:

Good serious movie to watch.

4/5

Vice (2018): Christian Bale is a treat to watch in the movie. He is a dictionary on how to play a living character, and he does so with great finesse. Kudos to the makeup guys in making him look 'so believably Dick Cheney'. The Director is in his usual comedic best and even rolls the credits mid-way as a stunt (was unnecessary I felt). Vice has a big structural problem, though. The narrative doesn’t hold you, and by the time McKay arrives at the vice presidency, I was a little tired. Would rate it 2.5 out of 5.

Being horror movie buffs, my wife and i watched "Hereditary" over the weekend. High ratings by a lot of people had our hopes up for a scary ride but more than scary it was just weird with a little bit of jumps thrown in.

Good acting by the lead actress but the movie as such was passable.

2/5

Did anyone watch bumblebee? I used to be a huge transformers fan having watched the first 3 parts multiple times, but last 2 installments were sad to say the least. :Frustrati

There is nothing exciting in it. Just some drama (felt typical like bollywood at times) and a few stunts here and there. You can skip it. There is no story as such that can keep you interested in the movie.

Watched it and liked it. Way better than the trash that was served in the past few installments. Kind of an origin story of Bumblebee. Though bollywoodish sentiments were present, was still ok. And the female lead is cute :)

That's surprising - it has a rating of 92% on rottentomatoes; such high reviews are generally never wrong. I guess it has a select/different audience who likes it.

Aha. So the feedbacks even out eventually :)

The Old Man With The Gun:

A nice pleasant movie to watch. Robert Redford plays the role to perfection as the aging bank robber full of charm.

3.5/5

Polar : 3/5

A 12% rating on RottenTomatoes, with a relatively lesser known protagonist (you'll recognize him from Casino Royale) as the main lead and rest of the cast with very poor actors and a very basic script doesn't really bode for a good watch.

But I had more fun than I expected from this Netflix produced movie. In a style that kind of replicates the John Wick series, Mikkelsen does a fairly decent job of a retired hitman that still has the capability to do the job when needed. Thankfully the movie's decently paced, especially in the second half.

Note: Strictly not a family movie, this is clearly an Adults-only watch.
