Tiny Giants 3D Would rate it 4.5/5

It is a BBC Documentary but it has some awesome visuals.
If you get a chance do watch it , especially the 3D version is spectacular.

The movie revolves around a chipmunk preparing for the oncoming winter and a desert mouse.

Very eye pleasing if you have a large screen TV or a 3D projector even better.

Here is the link to the trailer

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

A break from work allowed me to catch up on some good movies of 2017.

The Post: 4/5

Brilliant cast; with an amazing story on the Vietnam war fiasco. Streep and Hanks completely carry the movie on their shoulders; inspite of a heavy cast filled with good characters. The movie is fast paced and is direct on-the-face thriller; with an interesting ending/credits scene

Wonder: 3 / 5

A goodie-goodie type of movie; with a nice cast (Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson). Surprisingly JR and OW hardly figure out in the movie; the scene is completely owned by the children in the movie; especially the lead (kid), his sister and close circle of friends. Julia's signature laughter shines a few times across the movie; but clearly she's in accordance to let the kids take the lead in this movie. Watch this if you have time on your hands; it'll be a worthy 2 hours of your time.

The post was indeed good. Amazing acting by the cast and tight direction. NY Times took a back seat though.

Watched "All The President's Men"?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074119/

If i remember correctly, it starts where the Post ends Brilliant movie.

Thanks for that - Redford and Hoffman; man that movie would definitely be a good one to watch.

But I'll wait. Something tells me there's a sequel to The Post coming up for sure

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Eye in the sky - Will rate it 3.5 / 5 stars. Worth one watch, but it's certainly not as awesome as the online reviews would have you believe (95% on Rotten Tomatoes, 7.2 on IMDB). Good performances by all though.

Sure shows how politics & bureaucracy can slow down decision making. Also reminded me of why I'm not a fan of 'decisions by committees'.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched Jurassic Park yesterday with kids and they enjoyed it. Not too much of action though.

Had booked in Urvashi on saturday which they cancelled and showed Kaala instead. They tried to blame it on Book My Show saying their message did not reach the online portal due to some server issue. But they had provided tickets to Jurassic Park to people who bought it at the counter the previous evening too. Utter disgusting behaviour from them. Have still not received my refund.

I saw this movie on TV and was pretty much happy with it. I found it thoroughly engaging. I could connect with the decision making inability since I handle such people day in day out who keep pushing decision making to peers or higher ups. Could relate so much to my work.

Helen Mirren, Alan Rickman did justification to the roles.

I would rate it as 4.5/5.

Alan Rickman says 'What you witnessed today with your coffee and Biscuits is terrible ... Never tell a Soldier that he does not know the cost of War'. Excellent memorable performance by Rickman and Helen.

Yes. The meddling politics and bureaucracy can bot only slow down the decision making but can also inflict deep pain.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Jurassic World: The fallen kingdom

In a sense, it is basically first half of the "The Lost world" (2nd part of the original Jurassic park series) expanded into a full film, with ending setting up nicely for the 2nd half of that film to be made into a full film later.

A good one time watch, with usual running, hiding and chasing events. And moral dilemma of of the very first film "whether life, even though artificially resurrected after extinction, should be given a chance to survive?", given a second turn - from the original's "Life will find a way" to "The Dinosaurs had their chance from nature, and lost it's balancing act".

The Death of Stalin : A satire based on the last days of the dictator. Steve Buscemi and Michael Palin were truly outstanding - in all fairness the entire cast did a stellar job of making this satire seem like a possible version of the truth. There is explict language so not an ideal watch with kids. A 8/10 in my book

Finally someone who felt same as me, dont get me wrong, great acting by all but then they had great actors to begin with. The storyline is very average change the actors and nobody would have noticed this movie.

Escaple Plan 2: Stay far away from this one. The first would be Oscar worthy compared to this one.

Sly is hardly in it.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Ocean's 8

Me, myself, I would rate it 3.5. The reviews aren't very great and it has a 6.3 on IMDB. Knowing all this, I was pleasantly surprised. It was actually not bad.

I think it comes second to the original - Ocean's Eleven.

The only downside I could think of was, if you liked Ocean's Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen - This is the fourth time, the plot is more or less the same. Ocean's 8 is not a prequel as I had thought, it is a spin off which takes place after the previous three movies. In this one, Sandra Bullock is the sister of the 'now' late Danny Ocean (George Clooney) who leads an all women crew on a heist.

The Rampage : 2/5

Meaningless storyline - mutation experiments leads to "oops" moments + mass destruction by mutated animals + hero to the rescue

*yawn*

Only good thing is the chemistry and jokes between Dwayne Johnson and the giant monkey; keeps the movie above water.

Forced to see both the movies at a friend's place, suffered from severe indigestion.

Why cast the aged Sly in any movies at all? All he does is mumble some dialogues. No story, poor acting, forgettable cast.

All of a sudden I lost respect for the Rock. Zero story, unnecessary stunts made me sleep halfway. But Malin Akerman was too hot (atleast for me)
