Its a beautiful movie I saw ages back. I love such simple and straight screenplays with no unnecessary melodramas. It really helps if the cast is good too.. A bit predictable storyline but enjoyable.

Interestingly, my favorite movie prior to watching this one was 12 Angry Men - and even there, the entire story, coincidentally unfolds in a room.

Thank you once again!
You are most welcome buddy. Its a hidden underrated gem which most people don't know about and that's why I recommend this movie to each and every person who likes English movies and I am yet to meet someone who didn't liked this one.
The most fascinating thing about the movie is if you hear the story in one line you won't believe it at all, but the way he narrates everything you start believing in this possibility itself and imagining that it is possible in real life.

12 Angry men is a another gem and a must watch for all. In fact, its hindi adaptation 'Ek ruka hua faisla' is a great watch too. It stars 2 of the finest actors- Pankaj kapur and Annu kapoor.

Coming back to the topic going on, effect of Bahubali is that we have only one show of Guardians of Galaxy 2 running in only one multiplex here. That too its a 3.25pm show. Ridiculous.
But, can't blame the owners, they will show what will sell and in India its still Bollywood which sells and hollywood will always remain a non priority.

@ Dark knight- you must always check IMDb before watching any movie. Never ever go for something below 6 rating and in that too always read the first 5 reviews and you get a honest idea whether to watch or skip. This method has always helped me skipping the usual trash movies.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watching trash movies helps appreciate the good ones better I will watch a Van Wilder Rise of Taj and then watch Schindler's list as well :P

As with everything Balance is key.

And i have the issue with Guardians here in Trivandrum. All the major screens are sold out with Bahubali leaving Guardians which is definitely a large screen spectacle has been relegated to the second rung of theaters.

Going this Sunday at 1430.

.
Van Wilder Rise Of The Taj movie is good, seen multiple times. Have no patience to watch Schindler's list, saw it for 20 minutes and switched the channel.

At times IMDB rating does not tell the whole story, there are so many direct to TV movies rated very low but are quite good.

Recently saw Balls To The Wall, good one.

Heh heh yeah, but schindlers list was crazy good. Slow but amazing to behold both the evils of man and the good of man. I watched it very recently and I'm glad for it might have been wasted on me if i watched in my youth...
Ratings may give an indication but different people have different tastes.
Planning to watch "Gold" tonight.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2 - 8/10

Almost as good as the first one. Almost. Maybe for a moment or two the movie feels a tad slow, but overall a great time pass. Star-Lord, Rocket & Drax are ridiculously fun to watch. Of late, the Marvel multiverse has been going from seriously funny to seriously serious. It was as if Marvel was trying to be DC. Thankfully, someone at MCU has a sense of humor that hasn't been crushed.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

If you like murder / legal thrillers, 'the life of David Gale' is worth a watch. Kevin Spacey is brilliant in this movie & the main reason to watch it (Kate Winslet is poor). Very interesting twist at the end.

Rating 3.5 / 5 stars.

Ignore the critic reviews - movie got hammered by them, but regular viewers have liked it (19% vs 81% on Rotten Tomatoes).

How witty is Kevin Spacey in this? If you are a Kevin Spacey fan, you might want to watch K-Pax.

Good fun indeed. Taserface

As a comic book fan, am just glad i get to see these movies as their creators would have visualized them. The comic book universe just keeps getting bigger and hopefully keeps getting better as well But then movie makers have an almost endless supply of storylines to depend on.

Wouldn't say witty, but several thought-provoking dialogues (helped by the fact that he's a philosophy professor in the movie). In one of the classroom scenes, the way he explains 'desires' is just fantastic. Really makes you think.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Now you see me 2

Over the top, minimal semblance of a plot, but boy oh boy is it good fun!!
The tricks are magnificently depicted and most are unrealistic, but hey.....
Ruffalo is wasted in the sequel, and the true star is woody harrelson. Though its more due to the lack of shine in the others.
A true popcorn and beverage sunday flick
3/5

Get Out:

Excellent movie according to me. Was on edge all the time. There is some creepiness all along the movie and me and my wife both felt it. A must watch for all mystery/thriller lovers.

5/5 rating.

Assassin's Creed

This was great fun. So good that it makes me want to explore the game.
It has fassbender living out the memories of his ancestor , Aguilar, to find the apple of eden and becoming what he was destined to be.
Finishes off right there and indicates sequel(S).

Great fun it was.

4/5

If you loved the movie, trust me the game will blow you away. It is one of the best games that I have played in terms of storyline and not-so-gory but engaging challenges. Absolutely mind-blowing and provides an immersive experience of history. AC 2 and 3 were really good.

Sorry for the off-topic.

It was indeed a fun movie since i watched it with very low expectations. But i wish it was completely in the medieval setting rather than this hybrid scenario. Was way more cooler
