Doctor Strange - 9/10

Unabashed MCU fan here. And with that disclaimer, I'm happy to admit that this movie is absolutely amazing.

Great entertainment, and not just because of Cumberbatch! Granted, he lends a certain Tony Stark-ish feel to the character, with his ego and brilliance.
But the movie is so much more than that. There are two scenes after the end. One mid credit, and one post. Stay for both. Can't wait for Thor Ragnarok!

Oh, and watch it in IMAX 3D if you can. The visuals demand a big screen with excellent 3D.
This was probably one of the movies that made effective usage of the whole 3D concept. The visuals are an absolute treat!

No escape - 7/10

Watched with not much of an expectation and though it had some totally avoidable scenes and characters, I thought the way the sequence of events unfolds keeps you engaged. I could be wrong but involving a family/ kids just hits you hard and adds to the sense of helplessness. Surprising role for Owen (which I thought he carried well) but Pierce was totally avoidable. All in all, enjoyed the movie.

Jack Reacher: Never go Back 8/10

Really enjoyed this movie, so did my wife. Its pretty close to the book actually. The book (the whole Jack Reacher series) are very good if you’re into that sort of stories.

I usually hate sci-fi movies, but will say that Ex Machina is worth 1 watch. It'll keep you engrossed. Nice concept.

C'mon mate! I just told you that I've seen it a hundred times and you ask me this!!

For a first timer though, its a real shocker and even more for those who wait for the credits to checkout his name. I'm telling you, it's one movie that got everything right!

By the way, I'm watching it again tonight and that's when I thought I'd check the thread.

Doctor strange

Disclaimer: MCU fan

Mysticism comes to MCU and boy does it come in style!!
Doctor strange is The Sorcerer Supreme!

A wonderful superhero movie that blends visual effects, story telling and of course comic book fun together. Marvel does it again. They try to make their movies fun and not too serious. The reason I believe they have been more successful than their rivals DC when it comes to movies.

Marvel fans please go and watch the movie. I was worried at the fact that RDJ's contract with Marvel is coming to an end. But in cumberbatch's Dr. Stephen strange they are on their way to bring up another hero with the same infectious arrogance that can make a super hero movie so watchable.

Oh BTW Thor too loves him

Thanks for this. Never knew Richard Linklater made such movies, kind of stereotyped him with his Before/After movies And there is Ethan Hawke in this movie too.

Talking of Ethan Hawke, Gattaca is a very good watch.

Bone Tomahawk
A Kurt Russell western flick or a horror movie, call it what you want. I liked the pace and the acting. Definitely not one for the family evening
A 4/5.

Creed

Finally one in the Rocky franchise that's in the spirit of the first. And they should stop here.
Another 4/5.

Oh yeah. Pretty good it was.

Caught up on a classic. Once upon a time in the west. Man the patience level is just nuts. But even through the slooooow buildup i could not get myself to fast forward. Now to catch up on a lot of missed and unseen westerns

Arrival - 5/5

What a wonderfully made movie! Absolutely loved it. One of those sci fi movies that will stay with you long after you walk out of the theatres.

Please don't watch any trailers of the movie or anything and go watch the movie, you'll love it.

The movie is based on a short story - Story of your Life by a guy called Ted Chiang. I had stumbled on this on Reddit. The movie stays true to the short story.
If you haven't read it, then I recommend you to watch the movie and later read the short story.
