Money Monster (3.8/5)

Very interesting and two of the finest actors in the business makes this movie very much watchable. The movie is just about 100 minutes, so you get hardly any time to think or look otherwise. I watched this movie just for my favorite actress of all time, Julia Roberts. Although, most of the screen time is hogged by George Clooney and the main character in the movie.

All those who are active traders in stock exchanges can very much relate to this movie. I would recommend to go and watch this movie just for the interesting plot.

The Invitation (2016). Rate 4/5

Is an indie movie. A taut psychological thriller. Things happen when a group of mutual friends are invited to a dinner. You know something is coming but the timing takes you by surprise!

The Boss (2016). 1.5/5. Give this a pass.

She's not his niece though . She is Peggy Carter's niece. I agree that the scene didn't add much to this story, but they do hook up in the comics so they might be setting that up. Hope this doesn't count as a spoiler.

After watching Olympus Has Fallen, decided to give London has fallen a try today and damn! I wasted my entire time though the action was pretty decent everything else failed.
How did they even approve such an absurd storyline?

My Rating 1/5 (AVOID!!)

Saw lara croft 1 on TV. What shameful graphics and what absurd lack of a storyline in the end?!

I mean, even our Indian film makers would hate this crappy a movie.

1/5 seriously. I'm shocked it even has 5.7 on IMDB!

Captain America is an entertainer. Lots of technical effects and gizmos and destruction and destruction all the while. The cinematography is extremely advanced and the 3D vision enhances the viewing quality and effects.

The plot is however not so slickly executed and there are frequent confusions.

An old VW Beetle caught my attention in a scene, where it appears only once.

Below (2002)

A WWII submarine can be a very spooky place, even during war times.

Fantastic background score adds to the suspense and the ambience. Stellar work by the entire cast, most notably Bruce Greenwood. Pleasantly surprised to see Darren Aronofsky as one of the writers.

Recommended.

London Has Fallen 5 out of 5

Absolute freaking Fantastic. Its edge of the seat entertainment with a scenario which seems larger than life and scary at the same time.

If you thought Olympus has fallen was good, this takes up to 10 notches.

MUST WATCH.

The story line is highly improbable and they have taken ample liberties with logic (or the lack of it). The story line seems to borrow from Frederik Forsyth's Kill List. But it is well executed with crisp action. Gerald Butler comes on top with his flair for action sequences.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched X-men apocalypse, a great super hero film; would rate it above Captain America Civil wars. The characters were well developed, story line was OK but action schemes were well done. Had some really humorous moments as well.

Will give it a sold 4.5/5. A must watch for X-men fans, also make sure to sit through for the after credits scheme.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

After the pretty decent bar set by Days of future past, X Men Appocalypse is a dampener.

Surely the weakling in the trilogy that started with First Class. Such bad treatment of a defining character (I would not name the character here as it might turn out to be a spoiler for those not watched the movie. However it is just a matter of decent guess to know which character I am talking about, since there are only a handful who can take on Apocalypse. )

Anyone watching the trailer would know there is a cameo by Wolverine which in itself was unnecessary. After days of future past ended the way it did, wolverine's appearance raises more questions than answers. Good thing though you get to see some of his beserker rage.

I would rate it only slightly better than Last stand which I believe is the weakest among all X-men team movies.

Quicksilver again comes back and delivers a couple of great scenes.

Oh and what terrible casting for Jean Grey!!! I had this feeling while watching the trailers,You cannot go more wrong than having Sophie Turner in that role.

Brainless, logic-less superhero-kinda movie, without any superheros of course. Of course, it would have hardly made any difference if Gerald Butler donned the Ironman suit or a gaghra (read:cape) and did all that he does in this movie - running around and killing bad guys and blowing up stuff.

The concept was still ok the first time in DC; over here they just blew everything out of proportion.

But wait - this ain't the worst movie of Butler in 2016! Read on.

Gods of Egypt: 0/5
THIS has to be his worst movie of 2016 (and we still have more than half of the year to go). At times you feel you are watching a video game, that's how bad it is. Based on mythical god vs god setup in the Egyptian era, it's so bad that at one point you wonder what was Butler smoking when he agreed to do this movie!
Come-on, this is the same guy who gave such fantastic performances in 300, RocknRolla and many more!

Trivia fact - the main lead in this movie, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau looks exactly similar to Aaron Eckhart; in fact throughout the movie I actually thought it was Eckhart playing this movie.

If you haven't heard that name, that's because you know him by the more famous name - Jamie Lannister.

Concussion: 3/5

Great story - true story, and very representative of the current situation at US. Will Smith does a great job and literally carries the entire movie on his shoulders. But where it fails is during the second half when the director tries to make the movie into some kind of documentary. Still if someone who's a fan of American football and isn't aware of the downside of the game on the players, this is a definite watch!

Kill Command: 2.5/5
A futuristic sc-fi movie that has a very simple (and re-used) storyline - man vs machine, on the battlefront. A group of mercenaries(?) are sent to an distant base on a training mission with a cyborg-kind of person accompaning them. Suddenly you are introduced to a set of ultra-smart machines that turn out to be the perfect killing machine who start killing of the mercs one-by-one. The cyborg is somehow connected to this all; and the story continues on that line.

Overall, this could have been great! Short setup, limited personnel, clearly made on a small budget; the story is paced properly but could have been executed much much better by just adjusting a few things here and there.

Still a decent watch if you have time to spare.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

I had a few days off after a long period of work, so binge watched some movies. Here is a lowdown on some of them.
  • Good Kill: A very well made movie which highlights the ethical issues concerning drone warfare. Hawke gives one of his best performances as Tom Egan, a former fighter pilot in Iraq, now assigned to a base near Las Vegas to bring down destruction on the Taliban. It reminds me of a quote by Frankie Boyle - "Not only will America go into your country and kill all your people, but they'll come back twenty years later and make a movie about how killing your people made their soldiers feel sad."

  • Flight: While it is a good example of how drugs and alcohol can ruin your life once and for all, it is VERY inaccurate in terms of technicalities. There hasn't been a 'Whip Whitaker' in a cockpit, and there never will be. The FAA blood-alcohol limit for airline pilots is 0.04 percent, and we are banned from consuming alcohol within eight hours of reporting for duty. Drug and alcohol tests are quite common. Those found violating are subject to immediate revocation of their licenses and potential prison time. If any of the pilots find that the other is intoxicated, that flight will never take off. And don't even get me started on what goes on in the cockpit. You may not believe me, but it's not even partly true.

  • Sicario: This one was unexpectedly good, although there were some factual inaccuracies. That said, Benico Del Toro really stole the show.

  • Game Change: I had read the book, so the movie wasn't new to me. But if you haven't seen it, please do so. It basically highlights the 2008 presidential election race with the focus on VP candidate Sarah Palin, who turned out to be an absolute disappointment. Juliana Moore is downright awesome.

  • The Hurt Locker: This one disappointed me. I had heard a lot about it, but the experience was sub par. Sure I understand that it's a movie so you have to take some liberties. But as a person who saw his own cousin deployed three times, I cannot help but laugh at it. They show an EOD specialist who clears buildings, uses 50 cal snipers and runs off base whenever he wants. Sorry, but it doesn't work like that. You do not remove your EOD suit and you do not roam around the base like that without identification. Overall, I did not like it.
