Surprisingly no censoring - gore, nudity, expletives (came up in subtitles as well!). Not suitable for children.

Wonder why they went too hard on Deadpool and censored even the smallest cuss words.

Just a heads-up!

Oscars underway! Mad Max has won in 6 categories, The Revenant in one (cinematography no less!). The Big 5 are yet to be announced.

Emmanuel Lubezki wins the Oscar for the best cinematography (The Revenant) for the third consecutive time (2015 - Birdman, 2014 - Gravity). IINM that's a first in the world for a hatrick.

And finally Leonardo DiCaprio wins his first Oscar.. A very well deserved award.. clap:

Caught up with it this weekend, and I must say this is a front-runner for Best Film at Oscars.
...

Well .. Best Film does go to Spotlight!

It was further looking most probable after I saw "The Big Short" last week.
Great movie itself, but had a tone of comedic intermittently which puts its behind.

Looks like the movie was actually shot in harsh cold climate and several crew left the filming!

To add to that it was all shot in natural light .. hours of hard work and wait to get appropriate shots.
Well deserved Oscar for cinematography!

The Revenant

Leonardo was great. Although he had a fewer dialogues than tom hardy, but his expressions were good.

Story was poor, cinematography was amazing. Movie was slow.

The hateful Eight had a similar setup, it started slow but I found it more gripping.

Overall I would rate the revenant 3.5/5

2 Indian Americans also won Academy Awards (2016) for scientific and technical achievement. Rahul C Thakkar and Cottalango Leon received the Academy's Technical Achievement Awards.

The Longest Ride - An unexpectedly pleasant movie. Didn't know what to expect since the only actor I could recognise was Alan Alda, which is not saying much.

Movie swings from bull riding to art world and second world war to modern times, exploring human emotion and expression. It is quite a roller-coaster with a sweet ending, may be too sweet. I would rate it 4/5 and it can be repeat watched.

The lead actress Britt Robertson was a revelation, while the lead actor Scott Eastwood was kinda wooden. Britt practically carries the movie along with Alan Alda. Scott while has the looks and physique, simply looked reluctant. But there was something about his face, and I simply couldn't put my finger on it.

Today I was looking at something on the net and discovered what I had missed. Scott is the son of Client Eastwood. He has his dad's famous piercing eyes. But nothing else.

The Blind Side - Another movie based on true story of Michael "Big Mike" Oher. Sandra Bullock was awesome onscreen this time as loving mom and guardian, no wonder she won Oscar for this character role. Characters do justice for their role, big or small and live up to the expectations. Never let yours eyes go away from screen and many times bring smile on face thanks to adorable family relationship shown in there. I will give 7/10

Spotlight - Another brilliant story telling which snatched best movie award this year from other big names. Simple yet gripping storyline and brilliant script won't allow you to blink even once. Again based on real investigation which shocked US and rest of the world. Movie is fast and actors gave realistic performance. Must watch. I will give it 9/10.

Any reviews on the animation movie Zootopia? trailers on youtube look cool.

Watched following movies in last month or so

Deadpool

Had low expectations but loved it, this is probably the most funny Adult English comedy movie since Hot Shots Part Deux that I have watched.

5/5

The Intern

Nice Light hearted Drama with overall good performances. Wish the movie was a bit longer.

3.5/5

The Last Witch Hunter

Had less expectations but the plot is nice & keeps you engaged. Good one time watch

3.5/5

Sicario

Since watching Narcos I have developed an interest in this Genre & Sicario doesn't disappoint. Nothing spectacular but shows the real world of drugs & cartel that we live in. Brilliant performance by the lead cast (Benicio El Toro, Josh Brolin & Emily Blunt)

4/5

Watch Blow - true life story of George Jung - the american who flies in the cocaine from colombia. Depp as Jung is smooth!

The informant.

Tale of an insider collaborating with the FBI, in price fixing charges, blah blah blah....
That summary is true, but this one is out and out Matt Damon's masterpiece! It is tremendously funny, especially at the fag end.
Anybody seen it?

5/5

Story of a ruthless oil driller. Daniel Day-Lewis' acting is mega, especially the way he talks! Will give it a 5/5.

Both are :thumbs up.

Zootopia is a hoot & a half. Some of the humor is really subtle, but some parts are howl-your-guts-out laugh riots.

Give it a go if there's nothing better to do on a weekend!

Watched this over last weekend with kids. A nice movie to be watched, feel pleasant. New characters, new approach.

The movie doesn't preach any moral. But ends with a quote, 'Change comes from within', did I say it doesnot preach anything!

Ovarall a good package clap: 4/5
