Animal films; loved 'Eight Below'. But more than that, I fell for 'Two Brothers' (story about tiger brothers) and 'Ratatouille', the latter being an animation film.
Hachiko is on my to-watch list.
Some movies I managed to watch in the last couple of days:
1. American Hustle (2013) starring Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, etc.
Very slow paced flick and bored me quite a bit but the ending was surprising. 2/5.
2. Wolf of Wall Street (2013) - Excellent acting by Leo-D-Caprio but keep the kids and family away as it contains explicit nudity, drugs and adult language. 3/5.
3. Reasonable Doubt (2014) starring Samuel L Jackson - Grippy movie, good one time watch. 3/5.
4. Lone Survivor - (2013) - starring Mark Wahlberg - One time watch, OK movie ; 2.5/5
5. Last Love (2013) *ing Michael Caine - super slow paced 2/5.
Watched The Counselor
Wasted my time on this one, great actors & great director does not make a great movie if the storyline & script is not good. Its a waste of good talent. You get no clue about the plot for the first one hour, even later little makes sense & even in the end it does some, you wonder was all that rubbish talk necessary?
1.5/5
Watched *Crash* (
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0375679/?ref_=nv_sr_1) again.

Over a thirty-six hour period in Los Angeles, a handful of disparate people's lives intertwine as they deal with the tense race relations that belie life in the city.

Truly a masterpiece.
I'd rate 4.5/5.
Watched 300:Rise of an Empire
Its difficult to make sequels when the prior movie had set such standards
I would give 300: 4.5
300 Rise of an Empire : 3.5 or 4

Agreed.
There was nobody in this who you could get behind, you know?
Everybody did good, awesome fights, brilliant post production, but no central, towering character.
Worth a watch, though.
3/5

I can help you with run.
If you can get hold of it, try out the older Run, the one with Patrick Dempsey.
I think Is raat ki subah nahi was based on it, and it's a killer watch.
300 : Rise of an Empire
Rating: 4/5
Watched 300: Rise of an Empire.
Honest opinion : I liked it. The cast was good, the plot (leaving a few idiotic parts) made sense, and the action cuts not really that gory. Although this is no where in the class of the first movie. Yes, some of the slo-mo fight sequences could have been reduced, but it ain't that much. For a hardcore 300 fan, the movie would be worth a watch.
Watch out for Eva Green & Lena Headey - strong dialogues, and good acting by both (the latter only has a short role in this movie, but clearly has a strong role to play in the next movie of the series)
London Boulevard - nice movie, good acting, worth watching!
Being a movie buff, I'd be seen at the theatres almost every weekend. The ones that I saw over the past few months:
The wolf of Wall Street : 4.5/5. Brilliant performance by DiCaprio - enough said.
Her : 4.5/5.
Fantastic story and screenplay, loved the music score.
Captain Phillips : 4/5.
Racy entertainer, good performances.
12 years a slave : 3.5/5.
Brilliant performances.
Gravity - 3.5/5.
Visuals were awesome.
American hustle - 3/5.
The last fifteen minutes (no spoilers).
August : Osage County - It takes a star studded cast of Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Ewan McGregor and Benedict Cumberbatch among others to portray a family so dysfunctional, so dark, so chaotic and so sad - that you may start with hating a few of them, but you shall end up feeling sorry for them all.
This movie does not have an happy ending, in fact there is nothing happy about this movie set in the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma.
Again - I am yet to watch Blue Jasmine, but feel that Cate Blanchett better had put in a superlative acting effort in that one to justify her Oscar, coz Meryl Streep was supreme in this movie.
Do watch in one sitting - and do not watch if you are type who gets depressed easily!
Saw Need For Speed 3D. It took me right back to the days I used to play it non stop for hours! Well, the story is not much to write about but who needs a story when you have Shelbys, Koeniggseggs, GTOs, SSs and Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad)
I think i read somewhere that none of the action scenes in the movie used CGI! That is amazing. Many of the action scenes make you feel you are right in the driver's seat.
The movie also pays tribute to a few epic car chases in cinema. For example, in the beginning of the movie, they show the car chase scene from Bullit playing on the screen.
I'd give the movie a definite 5 stars and also call the movie: Cargasmic!!

Cate Blanchett is very convincing in Blue Jasmine. Planning to watch August tonight. Thanks for the review!
The thread is titled English movies but I am assuming this is for non-Indian.
Saw 'Suspect-X' last night. Japanese. Brilliant watch.
