Watched the Hobbit at pvr Imax

It was my first time in Imax and was expecting some spectacular visual treat. I was disappointed. Though in parts they were some brilliant scenes especially the ones of coins splashing and arrows but it didn't do justice to the much touted HFR 3d.

Overall a watchable movie, a gripping ending but purist who swear by the book would be disappointed.

My rating 3.5 out of 5

I didn't read Silmarillion. Don't know where I could get a copy. But the LoTR and The Hobbit are books engraved in my mind forever. Initially when I picked up the LoTR I was expecting something along the lines of Harry Potter (because I had read HP first), but I was just blown away. I have read the LoTR about three times, and considering the size of the book, it's a feat in itself.

I couldn't stand the LoTR movie where Aragorn looked more like a madman than an exiled king waiting to capture his throne back. The Eye of Sauron never felt intimidating. In contrast, when reading the book the Eye never left you alone. It grows on you, crawls under your skin, gives you cold feet - whatever horror imaginable. The movie utterly fails to bring this horror out.

The same could be said about the Harry Potter movies. The One Who Must Not Be Named appears as a joker wearing a mask, instead of the dark lord Voldemort of the books. I as an adult, was sh*t-scared of both these characters when I was immersed into the books. On the screen I feel like twitching my wand and make them both vanish!

Sorry, that was my opinion. And I should say it's a JRRT and JWR nerd alert!

If you come to Pune, you can borrow mine.

Watched ''Escape From Sobibor'' last night to get my sanity back after watching Dhoom3.

This movie is about mass escape of Jewish prisoners from a death camp.

Brilliant and gripping movie, a must watch for any WW2 movie buff.

Waseem.

Captain Phillips Great job by Tom Hanks, and based on a real story. However, as an entire package , I had my hopes jacked up quite a bit and was a wee-bit disappointed. Could be down to the substandard subtitles for the Somali parts in the copy I was watching. Worth a one time watch though. Rating : 3/5 (one extra for Tom Hanks)

Red 2 Huge amounts of OTT action and fun! Bruce Willis, Anthony Hopkins and all the supporting cast are great! I enjoyed it much more than the first Red. Rating : 3.5/5

Dark Blue Another cop drama, set against the Rodney King beatings of the early 90s. Kurt Russell as a "whatever-it-takes" cop is great, and so is his nemesis in the movie, Ving Rhames. Nice, one time watch. Rating : 3/5.

Any reviews for Fruitvale station?

Now You See Me (NYSM)

Am I the only one here who thinks NYSM is not a good movie? Looking at the trailer I had very high expectations from this movie, but now that I have seen it, I have to admit that I have been terribly let down. Bank robbery by magicians is always a nice thing to watch but these things were not shown properly in the movie. The suspense revealed at the end of the movie was not at all in sync with the movie and I did not even understand it.

I like movies which are fast paced but this movie was a bit too fast for my liking. I was not able to make sense of all the things after knowing the suspense. I cannot talk a lot about the things I dislike because I would be revealing the suspense then.

Just warched Ten Seconds To Hell. Sounds similar in the basic premise to The Hurt Locker.

The older movie though has more emotional drama since it has several characters.

Watched hobbit part 2 day before yesterday at Inox. I quite liked this one and is definitely quite fast paced and keeps you involved. Loved the escape sequence where they are in those barrels. The base part was the 3D experience and this was one of the best 3D experiences I have had till now including a movie at Imax too. Was told that the reason is that it has been shot in 48 fps format for the entire Duration which has increased the clarity and the scope for better animation experience.

Rating : 3.5/5

Watched "The hunt for the red october". Lovely movie. Till the very end keeps you at your seat's edge. Highly recommended if you like wartime/naval warfare movies.

Rating: 4.5/5.

Rush (2013) - 4 star rating - A must watch for all F1 enthusiasts in general. Taut, gripping and fast paced.

The Butler (2013) - 4 Star Rating - Another gripping drama based on true events. Facets several decades of US President in the eyes of an insider. Oprah's first major role too.

Don Jon (2013) - 3 Star Rating - Good learning experience for the young chaps and the portrayal of the unhealthy part that porn has been integrated in today's generations minds. But the movie is deeper on many levels.

Watched "escape plan". Will rate it 3.5/5 and The plot was good however Sly/Arni's age was showing...

I guess both Sly and Arni must retire now.

Did u watch this in a theater or did u dl?

Movie: American Hustle
Genre: Drama
Rating: 3/5
Comments: The movie focuses more on the hustlers than the hustle. Christian Bale is not at his best and Amy Adams can best be described as flaky. Surprise package is Jennifer Lawrence (what an actor she is turning out to be!) and she does full justice to the limited screen time that she has. On the whole the story & direction is just about ok and that bang you are expecting never happens :Frustrati

Watched 'the secret life of walter mitty'. Very well made movie. I think the character resonates with many.
