It's definetly worth a watch but, isnt as spectacular as I thought it would be. But, keeping in mind that this happened in real to a family gives me the goosebumps

3.5/5

Thanks for the review mate, was eagerly waiting for it. Have heard reviews where people walked out of the screenings.

OT: Which one would be the best horror movie as in "The Scariest" one to watch.

Have to wait for the DVD release. One question that I have - is it better than "Woman in Black"? I found that movie to be really good.

This one is right up there in terms of atmosphere, place chosen and other aspects to give it a subtle yet scary feeling throughout the movie

Well, its not that scary that people will walk out of the theatre.

Saw that only once and this was in Boston for the screening of " Texas Chainsaw Massacre" people were walking out in hordes. Not sure in fear or disgust

Horror genre is divided in two. One is the loud, bloody ones and second is the subtle and scare you without too many effects

Both have their own way to scare you and in my books there is nothing like scariest movie ever. I like only good horror movies and cannot rate them as the best ever. But, certainly there can be a Top 5 and Top 10 etc

Some movies that I like are :-

TCM
Hills have Eyes
Orphan
Black Woman
Conjuring
Sinister
Japanese Movie (forgetting the name)

Other than ofcourse, the classics like

Omen
Exorcist
Friday the 13th etc...

There are a few more, unable to recall their names right now.

Thank you for the list, will make it a point to watch them. Not looking for the bloody gory ones, the Japanese movie you looking for, is it 'The Grudge'?

Watched The Conjuring on Friday night. I felt that the movie was really good, would rate it 4.5/5. Agreed that there was nothing new in terms of the story but the way the movie was made was brilliant. The actors too did a real good job, even the kids.

The Ring - if that the japanese you are referring to!
Blair Witch Project

What about it? It's downright silly and stupid.

...in your opinion :thumbs up

I am not a big fan either but the flick did span a genre of hand-held/shaky camera "reality" filmmaking. My favourite in that genre is Paranormal Activity.

Noop, I didnt even like Paranormal Activity. Except for a couple of scenes there was nothing to be afraid in this movie and you have to wait for entire 2 hours for it and rest of the time its all camera angles inside the house

Some other movies are :-

1. Another nice movie was a brother and sister on a road trip...It was a lovely movie..have a DVD at home too

2. Wrong Turn....Have a DVD

3. Another movie that was in a motel cabin where a husband wife get stuck and watched by the owner of that motel

I think you are referring to Jeepers Creepers.

Since everyone here is suggesting Horror movies here are a few of which I like and some of them I want to watch.

I like:
The Orphanage: Story of a lady who was raised in an Orphanage decides to buy the house with her husband and her adopted child. The kid starts mentioning about his five invisible friends and..... . A beautiful story/direction by a spanish director who comes from a line of likes of Del Toro. This movie really breaks the barrier of horror/spooky.

A must watch!

I want to watch:

1) Mama : Jessica Chastain as the the lead and this movie got great reviews.

2) Conjuring: I want to see soon!

This is the one. I liked this movie, well directed and acted. Indeed scares you in quite a few places.

I think it's Vacancy. The second part wasnt good enough. True that the reality camera type of movie isnt all that great but "The Tunnel" is pretty good. Few good scares in that one.

Some movies that I liked:

1) Woman in black
2) Mama
3) Jeepers Creepers 1
4) Wrong Turn 1
5) Ring
6) Friday the 13th
7) Evil Dead 1
8) Hills have eyes

and many more

My favorite horror movie is "The Shining". Watch it for Jack Nicholson - "Here's Johnny!"

On the horror movie genre, Watched the Evil Dead 2013. This is one crap of a movie ever made. Very very silly and not scary. It was blood and gore, nothing else.
Rating - 1/5

On a side note, watched the Scary Movie V. Lucky I watched the Evil Dead 2013 before this, otherwise wouldn't have been able to relate some scenes to it. On the similar lines for Paranormal Activity movies too.
Earlier editions of Scary Movies were better, atleast on the comedy front. But this 5th edition was very boring. Not sure why they filmed this at the first place.
Rating - 1/5

Eagerly waiting to watch The Conjuring. Trailers were too good.

Watched "The Conjuring". Very gripping horror movie. Keeps you interested till the end. Some of the scenes keep you on edge of seat. Nice direction and good acting.
Rating 4.5/5

I went to watch it without any expectations - in fact, I was a bit skeptical about the film since it was actively promoted by Kiran Rao. But once I saw it, my respect for Kiran Rao and my respect for Anand Gandhi has increased a-la-GTA style (RESPECT+).

Sid's Rating: 4.5/5
(Minus half a point because of excessive "elitist" category marketing of the film.)

I agree. Went to watch it without expectations and oh boy what a movie. The movie revolves around so many levels that its amazing. One of the best movies I've ever seen.

This one song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMvNfytKRBQ and its meaning has been ringing in my head from last night.
