Watched the new movie "The Woman in Black" starring Daniel Radcliffe on Sunday. Its horror-thriller film and is based on Susan Hill's novel of the same name. Although this was my first Daniel Radcliffe film (haven't watched the potter series), went ahead as I like the genre.

The story is about a young lawyer who travels to a remote village where he discovers the vengeful ghost of a scorned woman terrorizing the locals.

The movie wasn't engaging at all, both in terms on spookiness and the story.

Cowboys and aliens

Rating 5/5

I had been sitting on this for some time, and finally put it on.
I wish I had seen this earlier.
Did not expect a cohesive storyline(afterall, its cowboys and aliens , for cryin' out loud!!).
But, the story is surprisingly good!

You throw in the mix a man proven to portray himself as dark(daniel craig), and Indiana Jones, and it was bound to be good.
Effects - good
Acting - good.
fights - nice!!

in the year of strange movies, I wish I had caught this last year!

Watched the following animated Movies:

A Cat in Paris-Mystery/Thriller -4/5 -Basic animation, but well made & worth watching.
A Monster in Paris-3.5/5 -Comedy/Adventure.
Adventures of Tintin -3/5 -Graphics are real good, but didn't like the story line.Completely different from the series.

Others:
The Descendants-4/5
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo -4/5

Just watched Tarsem's trio (The Cell, The Fall, The Immortals). The guy makes me aaw everytime I see something directed by him.

Watched "Limitless" over the weekend. Good storyline and narrative style of movie. Exciting and fast first half, but the second half was bit of a letdown and lost the thrill.

Rating: 3.5/5

Also watched "InTime". Brilliant movie and thrilling till the end. Very innovative storyline and picturization. Really reminds that "Time is running out!"

Rating: 4.75/5

Watched 'The Artist' yesterday.

Its a Silent Masterpiece. Well deserved adulation across the globe. Its hard to imagine that a Silent Movie can keep you hooked for 2 hours.
All I can say is 'Acting' speaks louder than words.

A must watch.

My Rating - 4.5/5

Saw Ghost rider 2 on Sunday.

Rating 2.5/5

Not as good as the first one. Not even close. Loosely made movie, it's like the cast and crew in the movie lost interest and just wanted to finish it. Cage is getting bad at acting with age :Frustrati

Noticed a weird thing, In the LCD outside the theatre running promos, the movie looked brighter and clear and in theatre it was as if watching through a tinted glass!!

Excellent performance and good screenplay - a bit slow; nice story line!

Personally think it deserved an OSCAR!

Do watch it!

I totally agree. Really good acting i must say.

Watched following movies

Tron: Legacy

Pretty neat movie, its a sequel to the 1982 classic, the movie revolves around a Gaming engineer(Jeff Bridges) who is trapped in the Grid for 20 years & his Son accidentally land up in the Grid. The Engineer is awy form the normal world for 20 years with people speculating everything from death to him hiding in some part of the world.

The movie is about what goes in the grid & how he tries to rescue his father from there.

4/5

Rumble in the Bronx

This is an old one, but was absolute fun to watch Jackie Chan in his younger days. As usual one the of the best part in a Jackie Chan movie are the ending titles as they show the behind the scenes view of the stunts.

3.5/5

The Next Three Days

The movie is about a Professor (Russel Crowe) who creates a plan to rescue his wife from Jail who he thinks is innocent(all the evidence is against her). The movie starts on an interesting note, then becomes somewhat dull in between but then picks up in the later half & is then thoroughly enjoyable.

3.5/5

Secretariat

The movie is based on a True Story of a Horse named Secretariat, who went on to create a world record in 1973 Triple Crown which is not beaten till date.
Great movie for people of all ages (Its by Disney after all) & a must watch.

There was a Kamal Hasan movie "Pushpak" that was also an experimental silent film (only music). I loved that film, the acting, direction and the music everything was just too good. I dont know why its not very popular. I think it was one of the best movie ever made in India.

Gotta watch The Artist now.

I haven't seen it, but the film was a superhit when released - it was very popular. Of course since the film is around 25 years old, it was released before a lot of TBHPians started watching movies.

Flawless
anyone seen this?
Its got, even before we get to watch it, a LOT going for it.
namely, demi moore, and Michael caine!!

Is about both the characters ripping off the english diamond exchange, with "justified" cause.
its set in the 50's-60's, so not a lot of gadgetary, just plain ol' twists.

And its a fantastic watch!

5/5

Actually, it was a Spanish movie with English sub-titles. Enjoyed watching The Motorcycle Diaries, based on the true story of 8 k km-long journey on a Norton motorcycle of a 24-year old Che Guevara. Che Guevara and his bio-chemist friend ride on the latter's motorcycle starting from Buenos Aires to Miramar [remember the beach in Goa?] in Argentina, Chile, Peru and Venezuela, meet with an accident rendering their motorcycle a scrap, continue their journey by foot, truck, ship and finally aeroplane. The journey changes the mindset of these two young men leading to Cuban revolution. A must-watch movie.

My rating: 5/5:thumbs up

Usually i stay away form emotional movies but i saw two very good ones.

Machine Gun Preacher
Machine Gun Preacher (2011) - IMDb

Do watch it for the best performance of his career by gerard butler.
Its a story of a guy who transforms from a drug addict criminal to work for the betterment of kids in africa.
I was amazed to find it later that its a true story.

Rating- 4.5/5

50/50
50/50 (2011) - IMDb
Another true story about a guy who learns he has a rare cancer and the movie is all about his fight against it. Really heartwarming.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is brilliant in the portrayal of the guy and Seth Rogen does provides the comic respite from the emotional stuff.

Rating- 5/5

I agree. What a movie. A little bit slow to start, but is fantastic once the transformation starts. Super acting by GB. Ably supported Michelle who not only looks good, acts well too. Their daughter looks and acts very good too. A must watch movie overall.

OTOH saw The Muppets. I didn't like it. Too many songs and somehow the muppets could not evoke same emotions as other animated movies.
